Sophie "A House Without Windows" by. Nadia Hashimi

I am completely glued to this book and have nearly finished only after 4 days! Nadia Hashimi's writing style has me hooked! This book is very intriguing and I never know what's about to happen! I've also learnt a lot about women living as mothers/wives/daughters in Afghanistan. I would highly recommend this book!

Bridget's Quiet Corner (chaptersandscreens) Finally able to get to The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare

As much as I love her books and characters, I find myself needing audio books to get through them because they can sometimes be a bit slow paced and drawn out. I don't know what it is about her books that keep me reading even though the above mentioned happens...I guess it is the characters that keep me coming back. :)

Judy | 37 comments I am listening to a fantasy series, by Naomi Novik about the Napoleonic Wars between France and Britian wherein dragons are used for arial combat. The series is the Temeraire books, and I am currently on Book 5, Victory of Eagles. Ms. Novik provides lots of twists, turns, and action. Simon Vance narrates this series and does a very good jobs with character differentiation.

I am also reading, The Idea of You, by Amanda Prowse. This is a complex yet loving read about the loss suffered by miscarriage. Excellent read.

message 2999: by Harriet (new)

Harriet Levin | 11 comments Can't resist adding my own new novel, so I apologize in advance, but since this is a group of readers, it does seem like the perfect place to post it: How Fast Can You Run is the story of a South Sudanese refugee I met as part of a One Book, One Philadelphia writing project. The book takes place in S. Sudan, Kenya, Philadelphia and Australia and is at turns inspiring and heartbreaking. It just won a IPPY Bronze medal and is a 2017 Charter for Compassion Global Read. In short, it is the story of a boy searching for his mother. They get separated when he is five-years-old and he spends the next 22 years searching for her. I guess you could say it's a combination of Lion and What is the What! Anyway here's the book on Amazon. I'd be so appreciative if you read it and help spread the word, especially because of the current crisis in S. Sudan: https://www.amazon.com/How-Fast-Can-Y...
