What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)
Currently reading, though only a few pages in yet, The Beekeeper's Ball. It's a follow on from The Apple Orchard which I read a while back.

I have quite liked some of Tara Taylor Quinn's books, but I'm now wondering if I'll regret picking up so many of them, even if they were very cheap. On the other hand, my current bedside read is by Jackie Merritt whose books I usually enjoy
Dale wrote: "I've read most of them and enjoyed them all, but my favourite to date isLast Chance Cafe"I liked that one as well - but my favourite has to be my first Belly Dancing for Beginners
But as many of has said - haven't read one I don't like yet :)

Yes, I've read Ariel and often will pick it up to flick to a poem. I take care not to read Plath if I'm feeling even a bit blue.

I've just read The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide a beautiful little book about a young Japanese couple and a cat who comes to visit them. Not much happens but it's just so beautifully written. The writer is a poet and it shows in the imagery and vividness of his descriptions of this small domestic story. 4.5★ review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Also read recently That's Paris: An Anthology of Life, Love and Sarcasm in the City of Light by Vicki Lesage an anthology of short stories and essays contributed by a number of authors who have either visited Paris or moved there. Enjoyable and entertaining.4★

I just tried A Beautiful Friendship and holy freaking cow was that thing bad. DNF. I also started First Peoples in a New World: Colonizing Ice Age America today. That one is pretty good.
Currently reading Burnt Paper Sky. Love the cover on this and enjoying the book so far. Had lunch out today which meant I didn't get to read at lunchtime, like I do at home. For every advantage there is a disadvantage. LOL

Hahahalolol :D
It does sound unique. It's a teen prequel to an adult series I've been wanting to read. But the story was really awkward. It was kind of wandering between children and teens books, but clearly written by an adult. The story actually was pretty cool. The way it was written was painful. I confess I only made 60 pages and then threw it in DNF. She had just discovered the treecat sneaking out of her greenhouse with some mind altering (to treecats) celery. All of that cuteness and I still put it down.
Carolyn wrote: "What was so bad about A Beautiful Friendship Sarah? A book about telepathic treecats able to bond with humans on a frontier planet sounds intriguing. ..."OH dear - why do I think you said that with heavy sarcasm Carolyn :)
Actually - it sounds pretty damn good to me- telapathic cats are right up my ally!!
I think I'll try On Basilisk Station, which also has treecats. I think it's the first of the adult series. I like teen books, too. This one just didn't work for me. I really want to know what was going to happen to that treecat and his celery. Just not bad enough to actually read it :)

Some if our favourite cats are telepathic and bond with humans. I think they are too big to live in trees though. Leonie could tell us if they do:)

Oh no, not at all Sally! No sarcasm intended - I did actually mean that the story sounded intriguing. Had me interested!
The cats on the book cover don't look nearly as handsome as Leonie's :)
I'm quite enjoying the new Elly Griffiths book that I borrowed from the library The Zig Zag Girl. Set in 1950, so no DNA or mobile phones or internet...

Starting on Sheep Look Up for the SFF monthly sci-fi read - good lord, the only copy I could find in the system was from Berri (tiny town), and it is 23 days older than I am :P having been printed on January 3rd 1991. As such it is absolutely knackered, thinking if I enjoy it I'll buy a couple of newer copies for the collection.
