That's fine Brenda, I'm the same. I don't like to read reviews on a book that I'm just about to start.

message 12461: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Finished re-reading Citadel by Kate Mosse; easily just as good the second time around.

Started The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath; a book I've ben putting off for just ages. I thought it would be horridly depressing and while you can see the character becoming mentally undone, it's not depressing.

Dana | 144 comments I have recently finished The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, oh my goodness what a wonderfully cute read! Written in such a charming manner.

" September read often, and liked it best when words did not pretend to be simple, but put on their full armour and rode out with colours flying."

"September had to admit that sailing at night by one's lonesome was so awfully pleasant she could hardly bear it."

A firm favourite.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Ugh, blahblahFairyland Ship of Own Whatever, I couldn't stand that book. Alice in Wonderland except 99.99% more pretentious.

Speaking of books I couldn't stand, I just "finished" (up through page 280~) Sand Omnibus! And good lord did I hate it. Really sad too cos I loved the Silo books.

Sally906 | 87 comments I've just picked up Moon at Nine by Deborah Ellis being released by Allen and Unwin this month - Deborah Ellis deals with issues that face children and teens around the globe in developing countries - she's looked at children being used as drug runners, being sold into prostitution, life in war zones etc. I have not read a book of hers I dislike. This one takes us to Iran and a young teen girl who discovers she is gay and the ensuing fall out. Is based on a true story apparently.

Dana, I added The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making to my TBR after reading a gorgeous 5★ review of it written by one of my favourite authors, Patrick Rothfuss. He is great in that he often writes rave reviews of other people's books :-) And now your post makes me want to bump it even higher up my TBR :-)

Hi Sally I am so excited you want to read it, I hope you love it as much as I did. I have the next two books in the series ready to go (The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There and The Girl Who Soared Over Fairyland and Cut the Moon in Two) but am waiting until my February challenge is complete before starting them. Make sure you keep me updated when you start it.

I agree Patrick Rothfuss does write the best reviews, I read this one after completing the book and loved it. Have you read the comments he left in regards to people giving his yet unpublished book Doors of Stone 5 ★ ratings? Hilarious.

That's great isn't it? He's a wonderful writer and I hope he does get that third book finished sometime soon, although I'd rather he took his time and wrote a 5 ★ than rushed out a 3.5 ★ one!
