And wouldn't it be nice? We'd all need kingsize beds though... ;)

Sally906 | 87 comments I didn't have a lot of reading time this weekend - when I did I read Tumbledown Manor by Helen Brown. I am really enjoying it :)

Sally Howes | 223 comments I recently finished the Australian classic, Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay, and found it to be an elegant, intriguing, quite chilling if also rather frustrating book - 4★s.

Here is my review:

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) It's interesting so far. Wasn't expecting the fantasy bent to it.

I'd buy a king size bed if there was any chance of getting a starcat to sleep on it :)

I can relate to that. Our late cat was an abused kitty who adopted us. Took us ages to feed her up and fix her sores and for her to actually let us stroke her, but we knew we had made it when we woke up one morning with each of us perched on the edge of the bed and Louvre was stretched out horizontally and comfortably between us. After that she always slept with us on the bed and swiped the dog with her claws as he moved around the bed room floor at night to find a new bit to settle on. We would wake up and hear a hiss and a yelp then the dog would settle and the cat would resume purring. They were actually good friends the two animals he just wasn't allowed near the bed when she was on it!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I am not quite halfway into the library's copy of The Bone Clocks The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell and loving it. It's quite a brick at 595 pages, but David Mitchell's writing is so easy to read and he keeps introducing characters from previous novels. I'll be buying my own copy for sure.

I am currently enjoying a delightful piece of horror from Joe Hill called NOS4A2 if you are reading one edition and NOS4R2 if you are reading another edition. Fortunately they both link back to the same Goodreads page. From something that is said in the text the one with R in the title is the correct one. I guess the other is a publishing error.

That's odd Phrynne - as you say, they are all combined together - the A and the R - but both have the different cover pics as well. Perhaps the title was changed a little, hence both of them, and them being combined?

Ramajana (slushie) | 3 comments I'm a bit late to the party but I'm currently reading The Golden Compass and loving it so far to be honest! Anyone who's read it liked it or hated it? The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman

I enjoyed it and went on to read the whole series. I think I was a bit over it by the end though and my review says I was disappointed by the conclusion (of the third book). I don't really remember why:)

I quite enjoyed The Golden Compass, the second book less so, and did not enjoy the final book at all. I can remember quite clearly why, but don't want to spoil it for anyone.

I just now bought Josh Turner's new biography on fatherhood and what it is to be a man accepting to him. I wish he would narrate it. His voice is like melted dark honey.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I finished The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton.

Started Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernières; one of those novels where you know from the first page: 'this is reading nirvana.'
