Oh good, all of these are in Mount TBR somewhere....

Started Peaches for Father Francis by Joanne Harris
Breathlessl... Bette Outlander or Cross Stitch as it's known here in Aus is one of my all time favourite books. So glad you liked it. Does that mean you will read ALL the others in the series now? Must admit I'm up to the sixth one, (there are 7 with the 8th being released in June this year) and Cross Stitch still remains my favourite by far. How gorgeous is Jamie?
"
Elaine, you know me - compulsive to the end! Absolutely yes, I will be reading all of the Outlander (Cross Stitch) novels. I can't wait for the second one. Yes, Jamie is a honey, he could run around me in a skirt all day if he wanted:)
I can't bear to check out the blurbs on the next installments in case Jamie ends up not cheating death!

Only read a couple of chapters and I'm already enjoying it :)"

I haven't got that far yet, Kathryn. In fact I haven't read for the last few days as I've been preoccupied, but I'm hoping to read it today. I see you only rated it two stars was it that bad?

It lost out in the ending for me. I just felt it was wrapped up in a hurried fashion, almost as if the author wasn't sure how to make everything fit so he just came with a strange resolution but which still didn't answer all the questions for me. I only wrote a short review, but it's here if you want to read it: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Sounds very disappointing and now you've got me intrigued. I want to know what happened to his sister so I hope that gets revealed. I'm up to chapter 7 so I must be getting closer :)

Ha,ha!! You make me laugh Bette. Just that image of Jamie and you...priceless!!! Yes I couldn't imagine you stopping at just the first one. I quickly devoured the first five and recently reread Cross Stitch. I plan to read the next two before June when Written in My Own Heart's Blood is released. I just hope I can remember what's happened as they're all really long books and I really don't want to have to read them all again!! :)

I'm hoping I can still remember enough of number 7 not to have to read it again because it was not an easy book to read. I recall being very angry with it because after rambling for 800 pages or more it finished with some amazing cliff hangers. And then we all had to wait about two years for the next one. You will not have to do that at least!

It might just be me, Sharon. Maybe you'll find it a very satisfying ending.

Breathlessl....."
Yes I agree Phrynne...her books are very lengthy and sometimes there is too much information in them that doesn't really enhance the story line and seems unnecessary. I think that may have been one of the reasons I stopped reading at the 6th book...not that they weren't enjoyable but I was quite weary and needed a break. It probably has been longer than I meant it to be but I did reread Cross Stitch, recently and really enjoyed that as much as I did the first time. I understand what you mean too about the "cliffhanger" and then having to wait ages to find out what happens. That happened to me with The Bronze Horseman, another favourite. I think it was 7 years or something before the second book came out!!! It was agonising!!!

I'm one chapter in. Not exactly hooked yet, although the last lines of that chapter certainly piqued my interest:
After a man working at a hospital in New York had helped a patient get back to his ward, he says, "'I need to go now. You okay to call the nurse? I have to go. You happy by the window? They'll help you get back to... Sir? Sir?' The old man was staring out the window.
'There were six death camps.'
'Six what?'
'Death camps.'
'What do you mean, "death camp"?'
'There were exactly six death camps but you could die more than once in any of them.'"
But I see the next chapter doesn't continue on with this part of the story immediately, so I'll have to wait to find out more about this...!
I was just now in the library and could not believe my luck but there was Deserving Death by Katherine Howell actually on the shelf. Guess what I am going to read next.

I'm only a chapter ahead Kathryn, although by now you may be further on. It was that bit at the end of part one that you just quoted that got me interested. I won't get a chance to read some more now until tonight.

Lol, I know it was a real toss up between sheets, towels and other clutter items v essential items like books, books, more books and chocolate! I think I got a nice balance of the two essentials ;-)

Brenda I'm surprised you can't find it at second hand bookshops but you should be able to get it at the library I'm sure. Everyone that I know who has read it speaks very highly of it so hopefully we'll feel the same. Will definitely keep you posted. :)

The two I checked in Coolangatta didn't have a copy - I've searched online and don't want to pay a lot (hence my search of secondhand stores!) so the library will have to do...

The chocolate will go nicely :)
I finished it and was 5 stars (don't know how to do the star symbol)
Review will be a couple of days away though.

Glad you liked OutlanderBette. One of my all time favourites :)
Im (not so) patiently waiting for the 8th book in the series to be released in June & they are also currently filming a 16 episode TV series based on the first book thats supposed to be released later this year. Really looking forward to that :)

Wow, 3am! You have an hour and a bit on me! I get up to walk on the treadmill (and of course read), but can't resist checking email and GR when I first get down to the computer. Vicki, what time are you up?
Bette, Marianne and Vicki: the Early Girls....
Hubby wants to know, Bette, if it's because you have to be up for international banking or something like that. Thinks I'm quite mad to get up so early, BY CHOICE!!! But it's lovely & quiet then, and nobody is using MY COMPUTER!!! to play his interactive backgammon (which he can't do on HIS MAC!)
And, of course, that begs the question: when do you go to bed?

Mitchell. We enjoyed the "Mrs. Bradley" series
but this is nothing like the show. Diana Rigg
played Mrs. Bradley as a chic, witty widow who
seems to have more squires falling over themselves
trying to make her the next Mrs. Squire than anyone. The Mrs. Bradley of the books is a shrivelled up,
yellowed skinned harpy who makes Mrs. Marple
look like a beauty queen!! She is also a pretty
secondary character in this book which has more
of a "Midsomer Murder" feel to it, what with all
the eccentric characters.

Only 40 Dhitri? Mine is 540.
