Finishing off The Heaven I Swallowed by Rachel Hennessy. I had actually put it aside for a couple of months as other books grabbed my attention.

I'm reading Rabbit Hole by Garrett Smith at the moment, and really enjoying it:)

message 6110: by Sally (new)

Sally Howes | 223 comments I'm listening to Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver as an audiobook at the moment. Only the third audiobook I've ever listened to in my life but I'm loving it! I think Audible.com is going to be getting a lot of business from me in the future.

I'm also reading Outlander, loaned to me by my cousin, along with the rest of the Outlander series. It started slowly, which my cousin warned me about, but is definitely improving now.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3567 comments Currently reading City of Bones - have been wondering if it would live up to the hype. So far, it's OK, but nothing particularly new as far as YA goes. I'll post a review when I'm finished.

Had to laugh, Catherine. That happens with a friend and me too. Yet other times we are right in sync with our taste. I suspect a lot depends on circumstances at the time, what else we have been reading and a whole host of other variables.

Sally's comment makes me wonder how many people "read" via audiobooks.

I just finished Burial Rites. Want to do a quick review, but too sick to contemplate it. Really liked it and was nervous I wouldn't because sometimes the hyped books end up being let downs. But this one worked for me.

message 6122: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3567 comments I really enjoy audiobooks (as long as they're voiced well), particularly on long drives, or when I'm exercising.

I've only listened to 3 I think, and I didn't enjoy the experience. I can certainly read faster than the average narrator, plus the voices (at least on the ones I listened to) left a lot to be desired!

Patricia (pjaye) Sally's comment makes me wonder how many people "read" via audiobooks ..."
Me!
Although I have just started.
My biggest problem with reading is the time factor, I work full time and although I always intend to sit and read, it rarely ever happens.
Got the iphone a year ago and about 3-4 months ago, I thought I'd give audiobooks a try.
Since then I've listened to 8 books and I'm a bit surprised myself how much I'm enjoying it. Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom and "read" my book at the same time. No guilt about sitting and 'doing nothing' and my household chores get done at the same time.
It's also opened me up to different types of books and some wonderful stories I would otherwise have missed out on.
Got to say I'm a convert.
Today I started listening to The Ocean at the End of the Lane while I was doing the laundry. It's narrated by the author and I really like his voice.

What about giving yourself a break from reading for a couple of weeks. You'll come back more energized. Have a little self imposed reading embargo:)
