Oh yeah, me too, Jo. Some people's shelving really surprises me sometimes. And it can put me off a good book i.e. I generally shy away from chick-lit books. But maybe I'm missing books that are incorrectly shelved???

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I have Lionel Shriver's novels A Perfectly Good Family, Double Fault, and to re-read Big Brother reserved at the library. Whoo-hoo, in a Shriver kind of mood... :)

Glad you're enjoying her Bette. I find her a bit hit and miss. Two of her books I absolutely loved and then there were a few that were less than ordinary I thought. Do have Big Brother at home so I might get round to that soonish. :)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Yesterday, I whipped through Zoë Heller's debut novel Everything You Know; more a novella than a novel. 4★

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Last night, I started The Sorrows of an American by Siri Hustvedt.

This is the first book I've read by a Norwegian author and I am enjoying it so far (except for the teeny weeny print). May take me longer than my usual.

message 6263: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Via Skype, Hayley and I have finished The Enchanted Wood and have started The Adventures of Binkle and Flip.

I still have the copy I read as a child; kind of nice to be reading from that book some 35 years later.

One of the books I'm reading is The Inevitability of Stars The Inevitability of Stars by Kathryn R. Lyster by Kathryn R. Lyster Kathryn R. Lyster it's a really different experience reading a book that's partially set in your own local area, where you've travelled the streets and been to some of the venues / shops etc named in the book.

I agree about it being a different experience reading a book set in an area you know so well. I am currently reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. It is mainly set in my hometown of Kansas City in the States. It is so cool to be able to easily visualize all the places she talks about. Especially when I am currently living half a world away:-)

Sadly, Brenda, it's not just the 'old' eyes. You hit 48 and everything seems to start a sliding descent into encroaching old age. I garden for a day and my back aches the next, my skin regime has somehow multiplied tenfold, the list goes on. It ain't pretty:(

I read an article where a woman said she turned 50 and woke up one morning to find her bum had moved and was now residing on her chest! I am so not looking forward to that happening:):)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) The Vale Girl finished. Not the sort of thing I'd usually read, but I enjoyed it enough. Well written, and the relationship between the teenage girl and her mother reminded me a lot of the relationship between me and my mum. Albeit, without the prostitution and alcoholism.
