What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)

I used to love Arthur Upfield! His books are difficult to get now, I believ..."
You've now whetted my appetite for a Boney book, Marianne. I'll be checking out all of those sources :)

It loos good Sharon. I've just added it to my TBR. Thanks.

In seriousness it seems interesting so far. All the ladies at work raved about it.

Hope you enjoy it Christina :)

Interested to read what you think of it, Liam

I think I'd listen to him read the phone book...lol.
I really enjoyed the book, but I'm not really sure what I *think* about it all yet - will have to let it marinate in my mind for a few days.
I've just started Chopin Manuscript (I think it's only available in audio). Someone recently mentioned that Oprah had a list of best ever audiobooks books, so I googled and found one, and this was on it and looked interesting. I don't think I have read any books by any of the authors.
Currently I am trying to read/listen to a different type of book each time and expand my horizons a bit.
Just finished Thankless in Death which was every bit as good as I expected. Now I am starting Chosen To Die

Great you enjoyed it Phrynne. I'm waiting awhile, as when I finish it, I'll be all caught up:( I don't want to read it until the next one is nearly here;)

You are very restrained. I just reassure myself that the next one will be here in approximately six months. She usually seems to manage two a year in between all her other stuff!

Review coming soon."
Will look forward to your review Michael. I just added it to my TBR and reserved it at the library. Sounds like a good read.

And if I don't, anyone wanting to buy this brand new and New Release paperback book for 1/2 price, can PM me. ( Is this type 'selling' allowed here, Brenda???
So I've started Left Neglected by Lisa Genova.
Like her previous Still Alice, this novel is excellent.

Thanks. I was just going to TBR that one but I probably won't now. :)

Thanks, Jo. I was thinking about adding Love Anthony to my TBR. Probably won't now:)

Anyhow I finished The Big Sleep and really enjoyed it, gave it 4 stars. Now I'm starting Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.

Of course you enjoyed it

I am about half way through Chosen To Die by Lisa Jackson and I am disappointed. I expected her to be better than this. She waffles! Far far too much back story on every single character. I am actually skimming this book and I had hoped for something really good!

Great review Michael :)

You're welcome Michael. Think I might have to add it to my list as I do like the sound of it. :)
Speed read to the end of Chosen To Die and gave it one star.
A complete change of pace now (I need it) and I am starting The Book of Lost Things

This novel has been shelved as chick-lit: in error I feel- this is extremely good fiction.

From GR suggestion of authors similar to Lionel Shriver: Heller does not really write like Shriver but the novel is good so I'm happy GR brought it to my attention.

That's one reason I don't like classifications.
I would call it mainstream fiction.

You should be right with Darkly Dreaming Dexter. I've read the entire series and there are some good ones but some misses as well :(

Thanks Michael, it's very difficult not comparing to the tv series because so far it is different

I probably would have abandoned this at about Pg 50, if I hadn't read his brilliant Await Your Reply. But I've persevered and I'm finally invested in the story.

Don't you love it when your perseverance pays off?!
I'm reading The Casual Vacancy at the moment. I've heard mixed reviews so was interested to see what it was like. It's not bad so far, however I can't say I'm caught up in the story yet, but I'm not even 100 pages in yet...
I finished The Book of Lost Things which was really good! Scary and a bit gross in places but good.
Just started Hide and Seek. I have "discovered" Inspector Rebus and will probably read all of the series now.

Final thoughts, it was okay - well written, if predictable as all hell.

Vinnies, Salvos, Lifeline, I often pick them up there, also old Peter Corris books, both of which sell well on Fishpond after I've read them and are thin enough to post out as Large Letter....
