A long train journey today means I am well into Burial Rites. It is good - definitely worth reading.

Brave Heart: Lessons Learnt from Life
Review here http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

was "Haxby's Circus" by Katharine Susannah
Prichard. Third time I have read it and "third
time lucky" because the last time I can remember
being disappointed in it and Gina. This time, in
a different state of mind maybe, I just liked it
and felt Gina rose above all the negativity and
was really a woman ahead of her time. It is set
in a travelling circus (Prichard travelled with
Wirth's to get background for the story) and Gina
is the star attraction until an awful accident
leaves her fighting for her life in a small
country hospital. The setting is the early part
of the twentieth century and the descriptions
of the depressing conditions and the often
hostile country crowds that were endured
on the road are very telling.

I hate when they do that. I've actually had the same book twice, thinking it was a new release, not realizing until I started it that it was the same book, different name! I bet I'm not the only person as well!

I've done that too. America often changes titles from their UK ones.

(I think Richard Russo might next on my Author Marathon reads.)
Finished Violent Exposure - a really good book . Isn't it nice to read crime novels set in Sydney?
Now I am starting Never Go Back. I love the last few months of the year when every famous author brings out their latest book aimed at the Xmas market.

Sounds really worth reading, Bette - TBRed. Curious to see how you rate and review it :)

Just finished Emperor of Thorns, the final in the Broken Empire trilogy from Mark Lawrence. Review is here.
Bit disappointing, unfortunately. :(

And look at how many more you can read in the same series!!! He even has a new one coming out soon. He is quite a remarkable writer and a very entertaining speaker.
