Yep I agree Melina Marchetta is wonderful.

I assume if you like Melina, you've read Saving Francesca and The Piper's Son. I've been told by a fan of Melina's, that she will be writing (or in the process of writing) Jimmy's story. I can't wait!

Kathryn | 3569 comments I'm enjoying the second in the Maisie Dobbs series Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear. I discovered this series earlier this year. They are set between WWI and WWII, Maisie Dobbs is a less-than-conventional private investigator. I like books set in the 1920's/1930's and books that feature flashbacks to earlier years and this book ticks both boxes.

It's so much more than Cal's story, isn't it. (Sorry, I'm a couple of days behind in this conversation)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I'm lining the next author in my Author Marathon read. It will be Richard Russo: the 2002 recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for Empire Falls.

I'm just finding it a very disappointing read Geoff. I have a friend who also really likes Christopher Hitchens so I thought I'd give him a go but I don't think this was a good introduction. Even though he's very clever I just don't feel that he's telling me anything new about religion.

Heather | 388 comments reading books in series - I'm totally addicted but I rotate through a set of four books - three are three different series and the fourth is an odd book like monthly challenge - normally takes me two to three weeks to get through a set that seems to stop me from getting stale on a series.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3567 comments I decided I needed to re-read 1984 by George Orwell. I'm glad I did, as I read it so long ago in school that I barely remember it. About a quarter through so far, and appreciating it much more than I did back in highschool, which was, ironically, in the early eighties!

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Yesterday I read That Old Cape Magic by Richard Russo. (He won Pulitzer Prize 2002 for Empire Falls.) As I dislike writing a negative review, I won't be reviewing it.

Suffice to say, I suppose any book which comes after Middlesex might pale in comparison and this one certainly did.
