What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)

Yep I agree Melina Marchetta is wonderful.
I assume if you like Melina, you've read Saving Francesca and The Piper's Son. I've been told by a fan of Melina's, that she will be writing (or in the process of writing) Jimmy's story. I can't wait!

I read The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling at school. (In England)I remember liking it very much.

I'm enjoying the second in the Maisie Dobbs series Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear. I discovered this series earlier this year. They are set between WWI and WWII, Maisie Dobbs is a less-than-conventional private investigator. I like books set in the 1920's/1930's and books that feature flashbacks to earlier years and this book ticks both boxes.

It's so much more than Cal's story, isn't it. (Sorry, I'm a couple of days behind in this conversation)
I'm lining the next author in my Author Marathon read. It will be Richard Russo: the 2002 recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for Empire Falls.
I'm reading The Tenderness of Wolves which I'm enjoying and struggling with God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything. I think it's this book that's not great!!!
Just finished And the Mountains Echoed which was good (not quite as good as the previous two) and have just started The Fault in Our Stars which is engaging and easy to read.
Last night I finished Storm Frontby Richard CastleDefinitely a different style to the other seven books, I'm wondering if they have changed author - does anyone agree?
Just remembered I hadn't put my review of Casting About up. Oops Wondered why that book was still sitting on my desk. Better late than never. Review is here http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I'm just finding it a very disappointing read Geoff. I have a friend who also really likes Christopher Hitchens so I thought I'd give him a go but I don't think this was a good introduction. Even though he's very clever I just don't feel that he's telling me anything new about religion.

Sorry Bette I missed your comment.
Yes it is. The storytelling is wonderful and I got more out of this then expected.
about a quarter of the way through
and really, this book is sooo annoying! I'm meant to be tidying the house but there's this magnet in the pages......

I just finished The Son-in-Law by Charity NormanI LOVED this book from start to finish. I highly recommend it :)
Shane wrote: "Thanks Sharon, Added it to my list"Your Welcome Shane. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
reading books in series - I'm totally addicted but I rotate through a set of four books - three are three different series and the fourth is an odd book like monthly challenge - normally takes me two to three weeks to get through a set that seems to stop me from getting stale on a series.

I decided I needed to re-read 1984 by George Orwell. I'm glad I did, as I read it so long ago in school that I barely remember it. About a quarter through so far, and appreciating it much more than I did back in highschool, which was, ironically, in the early eighties!

Yesterday I read That Old Cape Magic by Richard Russo. (He won Pulitzer Prize 2002 for Empire Falls.) As I dislike writing a negative review, I won't be reviewing it. Suffice to say, I suppose any book which comes after Middlesex might pale in comparison and this one certainly did.

I've been working through some of Philippa Gregory's historical books during the Tudor period, something I really have no knowledge of and am enjoying the ones I have read. Currently reading
Now starting: A Fraction Of The Whole by Steve ToltzI've heard only very, very good things about this book. It's finally time to pull it away from the mountain called my 'own-unread'.
