✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 134 comments 4. Book of the Month or “Buddy Read”: Read books that are a NBRC BOM or “buddy read” AND participate in the posting Discussion Questions. (Please check with Mod running the discussion about the day’s DQs for which you want to volunteer.) NOTE EDIT BELOW! Yes, you may ask to have a “buddy read” set-up for a particular book. It must be posted in the regular NBRC group, under the alphabetical authors’ listings, and includes the regular NBRC members not involved in the Tower Teams Reading Challenge. You may all read the same book, or pick and choose which ones you want to read, or from those already designated.

1 A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness (Robin)

5. Spell-It-Out: Read books whose title, author’s (first or last), or series name would spell “N.B.R.C. T.O.W.E.R. T.E.A.M.S. R.E.A.D.I.N.G. C.H.A.L.L.E.N.G.E.” You may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, and, the), if that helps. Special Note: You can ONLY use a letter as many times as it occurs. For example, you may have two people read a book with a title, author or series name that starts with “T,” but you may NOT have three people doing so. Yes, you only have to do seven books. Unless you choose to do it twice, or even thrice, in which case you still MAY NOT repeat the letters, unless they are repeated in the spelling.

6. From May’s R-a-T Mini Challenges: Read books with a predominantly green color; or have a flower on the cover; or are set in a favorite holiday destination; or have a moon on the cover; or have a iconic landmark or monument on the cover; or would spell out “A.N.Y. R.O.S.E.” (same rules apply as for #5). Yes, you may count one book that has a flower, one that has a landmark, and one that helps spell “any rose” to reach a combined total of seven (7) books.

1 - The Wedding Duel (Dueling Pistols, #1) by Katy Madison (Susan) [green]
2 - Clapton by Eric Clapton (Cathie) ['E' (Eric)]
3 - Moonlight on the Millpond (Tucker Mills Triology, #1) by Lori Wick (Phyllis) [green]
4 - Protecting What's His (Line of Duty, #1) by Tessa Bailey (Susan) [green]
5 - The Time Hunters (Time Hunters, #1) by Carl Ashmore (Claire) [green]
6 - The Seeds of a Daisy by Alison Caiola (Cathie) [green]
7 - The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce (Cathie) [green]

7. Seven: Read books with seven letters in the title. Read books that have seven words in the title. You may include the series name, or not, and you may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, and, the), whichever is to your benefit. Or read books that are the seventh book in a series. Or are written by an author with seven letters in their first, last, or combined names - and initials, if that helps. Or you may read books, that total seven words with the title, series name, and author combined. (Example: Summer Knight, The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher.) Or if the title has the word “seven” in the title. Or read a book that was originally published in the seventh month (July). Or you may spell out “S.E.V.E.N. U.P.” using the same spell-it-out criteria mentioned above.

1. The Memory Jar (Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors, #1) by Tricia Goyer (Phyllis) [seven brides for seven bachelors series]
2. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke (Cathie) [Susanna has 7 letters or total words]
3. Point of Retreat (Slammed, #2) by Colleen Hoover (Robin) [Colleen has 7 letters]
4. Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione (ShoSho)[title, series, author 7 words]
5. Real (Real, Raw & Ripped, #1) by Katy Evans (Susan) [title, series, author 7 words]
6. Dark Dates (Cassandra Bick Chronicles, #1) by Tracey Sinclair (Claire) [title, series, author 7 words]
7. The Judging Eye (Aspect-Emperor, #1) by R. Scott Bakker (Kme_17)[title, series, author 7 words]

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) I am totally confused too Claire. Over in the other thread I posted how I am working on the challenge as I have books lined up for them specifically but noticed you have my books fitting in #s 6 & 7 when they should all be under #5. I do have some coming up that will fit under 6 & 7 and will let you know on my challenge post when I get them read : )

Updated Post 857

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 134 comments That's ok, I found it confusing to start with too :)

Phyllis, the challenge is to read 7 books in each category, as a team (49 books in total). If you're finding it confusing, feel free to just read as normal and I'll figure out where your books fit in, if that helps.

Robin, I know you've listed them under one category as to where they'll fit, which is seriously helpful (!), but I'm also putting anything else they may possibly fit under, just in case we end up with 8 books fitting one category, if a book someone else has read only fits into say #5 and nothing else (I think one of mine does that), I may have to rearrange one of yours so it's helpful to know everywhere they may possibly fit.

Does that make sense? And is that ok? :)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) LOL OOOPPPPSS!!! I did this one wrong then LOL I planned out books to read for specific tasks :) I will nix those and just read since I'm still confused and hopefully my books can be slotted in. Sorry.

message 20: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 134 comments That's fine, don't worry :) Are you happy with that?

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Yeah I guess since I am still confused. I had it planned out to read 7 books for #5, 7 books for #1, 7 books for #6 and 7 books for #7. But I don't think that is what I was supposed to do. So I am just going to read and not worry about the 7% challenge.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 4 comments It looks like no one is doing the BOM/buddy read category. There weren't any I was interested in reading. So, what category do we want to repeat to take it's place?

message 23: by ShoSho (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 7 comments I think the seven category is the easiest but we can wait and see what do we have a little bit closer to the end.

message 24: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 134 comments I think either 7 or spell it out will be easiest but I'll see how it's looking when I update later on :) We can always decide in a few weeks :)

I am doing the A Discovery of Witches buddy read which starts tomorrow. If you all want me to, I can do 6 more as there are several I am in interested in.

Go for it, if you're happy to :)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) I will do #4. I went through and looked at all the BOMs & BRs and there are about 20 of them that I have on my TBR LOL One of the books I started this week :)

Therefore I will read 7 books for #4 :) I will post links to the ones I do when I finish them.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) That's the info regarding my buddy read of that book.

I will be writing/making 3 sets (June 12th,14th and 16th) of daily questions which,if I understood this correctly, will earn the team a cupcake.

Ok the BR for A Discovery of Witches finished today!!! I posted links to all my DQs I wrote and answers to all the DQs for the sections :) here in this thread Post 32 Discovery of Witches BR links I think that is all the verification you need proving my participation in the BR to claim this book for #4 :)

No, so far none of my other reads have been BRs or BOMs so you can place them where you would like to.

I will now concentrate on the other 6 BRs/BOMs we need to finish out #4. I will post links to the my discussion/questions/comments in regards to those here in this thread and let you know that they are a BR/BOM.
