Thoughts after "The Elite": Team Maxon or Team Aspen?
i'm still team maxon. i think that there's still something there that's keeping me on his side, and i also don't fully trust Aspen right now. i think that there were too many comments made throughout the story that brought up how 'observant' Aspen was and i feel like he knows a bit too much for someone in his 'station' that there's got to be something brewing with him in The One. i just hope that maxon isn't toying with America and that there's not more to the Kriss story than we know already.
I used to be Maxon 100% (I personally don't like Aspen). But I'm hesitant to trust him due to how unexpected his little fling with Kriss began. I really love how bold America is, I hope she stays that way I want her to put the king in his place.
Maxon just broke my heart in THE ELITE :( I'm still in a fragile state up to now ugh! But I'm still on Team Maxon, way better than I-hurt-you-before-but-I-want-you-back-now Aspen.
After checking out polls and other votings, I see that Maxon is the absolute winner. Niiice :)Also, it seems that a lot of people don't like Aspen bc of how he dumped her and then came back, so he can't be the endgame for Ames bc of that. For me, I hate him bc of how he puts her in danger by constantly entering her room, leaving notes in broad daylight, etc. He's a guard, he knows every rule, he's seen how a couple has already been punished for breaking the same rule, yet he doesn't even blink and takes America on a date the very next day >:( I mean, DOES HIS BRAIN WORK AT ALL???
I am on team Maxom! He seems like he is what you look for in a guy.
Team Maxon!!!!!!I was like really mad at him in the Elite because of reasons but taken what he's been through with his father, the pressure and all I haven't changed my mind about him!As for Aspen I never was crazy about him!He won me at some points in the sequel but then again he put at risk everything with his careless actions so...yeah
I've always been on Team Maxon, even though he did make some stupid decisions in The Elite. I never once had a thought to switch to Team Aspen, no offense to Aspen fans. Sometimes I hate love triangles because they can be so frustrating, and this is one of them. On the other hand, I did enjoy the ending of the second book!
So I don't hate Aspen, never have. I will never understand why his character gets so much hate. After reading The Selection I was really torn over who I wanted America to end up with, and I'm still torn, but in a different way. I kind of can't stand any of the characters, except for maybe possibly Maxon. And that's only because America is an unreliable narrator. Which is why I've never hated Aspen because it was clear from the beginning that he was dumping her because he thought it was best for her. I will say I don’t think I want her with Aspen anymore. At this point, I think he is holding her back. The two main things that worked against him were not believing she could be a princess and not caring how he got her. There were several moments when I felt like I wanted her with Aspen, but by the end of the book I liked Maxon more. I’m basically Team Maxon. But not in the she should choose him way, but in the whatever is best for him I support. Unless America pulls it together, I would be fine with him ending up with Kriss. He at least deserves happiness.
Maxon because of what his father did to him!!! If that hadn't happened, i think i might still be on his team...but i don't know; it was pretty close before that happened.
Um...I hate the whole Team suggestion I've hated that for years, but I guess you could say I'm rooting for Maxon. Aspen was puppy love. However I am still extremely mad and betrayed by Maxon...I understand using Kriss to make America jealous and forcing her into admitting her feelings for him, but as far as I'm concerned Maxon took a swim in a sewage pipe when he dallied with Celeste. He didn't just step over a line he took a flying leap over it and in turn lost all sense of Regalness in my eyes. I guess what I'm saying is if the Rebels stole America away and America meets and falls in love with a Rebel we meet in the 3rd book I wouldnt be all that depressed about it.

Maxon pissed me off!! I mean seriously Celeste???and his explanation was no excuse- ltl bitch.
I just don't trust Maxon or Aspen at all. I think this is one love story that needs to end with America loving herself and accepting her greatness. If she ends up alone I would be happy.
Team Maxon, although I don't trust him as much now. Worse comes to worse America can either go off to Italy or join the rebellion since I believe it's obvious the rebellion is TRYING to get rid of the caste system only they are doing it in a not-Ghandi's-nonviolent-way
Team Maxon all the way. Even though he had his little fun with Celeste and also cares for Kriss, we can't forget the moments that America has taken with Aspen behind Maxon's back.
Team Maxon, sure he behaved like confused horny teen, but the heart is good and all.whatever. Though i really hope Theres More to the story in "The One" , And not just revolving around this Team This Team that, Its so damn Annoying! Also I'm not a big fan of America as of now, so Im not really keeping her well being in mind. Dont hate or even really dislike Aspen, i just find him unnecessary :/Heres your chance to make the sereis from 'like' to 'freaking awesome' Miss Cass, one whole year, plenty of time.
Team Maxon, because after readingn the Elite, I personally think Aspen is crazy. I mean, right when America was leaving he started planning their future. He was already talking about how he was going to marry her as soon as he got there. I was always Team Maxon, but I never hated Aspen~I just thought he was unnecessary. After reading the last part with him, I honestly knew he was just crazy...

Right now I'm team neither. Did America not see what happened to Marlee for doing the same thing she then started with Aspen? And all the cameras that the King implied at the end are where? Who is offering Maxon so much more? Not Kriss, not Elise, and according to the King, not America. Then Maxon who had never kissed someone before America is suddenly going at it with Celeste - and it was implied that it was not an isolated event. His explanation that he was using Celeste was a huge turnoff - such a character change from The Prince. And he really likes Kriss but isn't sure that they have chemistry and only a kiss can tell? Don't you kiss because there is chemistry? (yes, I know, Kriss doesn't kiss) Maybe he's only keeping America around until Kriss kisses him (lol). Obviously, this book frustrated me. And I am officially shipping Lucy and Aspen.

I agree that Maxon's reasoning for kissing Kriss to see if there's chemistry is a bit weird BUT, he knows he doesn't feel for Kriss what he feels for Ames, his heart is already given away (he said it himself). So he already knows it won't be the same with Kriss. I think he just wants that kiss to be smtg like a test, to see if that maybe inspires some more passionate and lustful feels. Personally I hope he doesn't get to kiss Kriss at all. My heart would bleed a little then :( The same way I hope Ames won't be getting touchy-feely with Aspen anymore. 3rd book needs to be all about Maxon & America, please, Mrs. Cass!!!
I don't understand why people is so upset about maxon- celeste or maxon-kriss. America is almost doing the same and in the end, Maxon needs to make a choice. What if America decides she wants Aspen?? Maxon needs someone and Kriss is there. About Celeste... He said she was using him so he was using her... I really believe Maxon wants to change his country and he has big plans (I hope). I don't dislike Aspen but I don't think he's the right guy for America. He and Lucy should be together :)
I'm upset because Maxon was all like "You're the only one for me. I need you," then he turns around and gropes Celeste. And the whole Kriss thing is more understandable and I get that he has to make a choice, but I wouldn't be able to do that. If I love someone I don't mess around with other people, I'm not strong enough for that I guess.
I went into The Elite strongly rooting for Maxon.And I have to say, this book was really a rollercoaster ride. I found myself angry at every. single. character. Even Maxon.
I understand that the point of The Selection is for the prince to date other girls. I do. But there were a lot of times where I felt that Maxon was just being insensitive and selfish, not considering even slightly the feelings of the other girls. Okay, so mostly I'm talking about (view spoiler). I was really lost on his character, because he seems like the old Maxon and some parts and a complete jerk at other parts.
Aspen. Ughhhh well, safe to say that the boy has guts. Or that he's a complete idiot. He was ruining Maxon in America's eyes and constantly putting her in danger with their secret meetings and sneaking around. He's selfish. And I do think that he sees America as a competition between himself and Maxon, especially now that he's a Two.
My feelings for both of the love interests were pretty negative for the majority of the book. But the small glimpses that we've had of Maxon, the ones where he shows potential of really making a change in Illea, and the ones of the moments between himself and America that are only for them, keep me rooting for Maxon and America. I think that they could truly change how Illea is run, for the better.
Okay it's obvious everyone wants Maxon, as you can see. And I know I'm going to get fired back for saying this but. IT'S TEAM ASPEN all the WAY! Now after I post this comment I bet there are going to be those few who say, Aspen is okay, or He has great qualities but..., or even NO! Team MAXON. But seriouly it's Aspen all the way. The reason why he's not liked is because the way he's painted, he's painted like this first love and that's all America new, but now it' time to move on to some fancier, hence Maxon. But if just gave Aspen a chance, you'd see he and America would be Awesome together. Now that I've said my 50 cents I'm going to hide under a rock so I can protect myself from Maxonican Fighters and if you like Aspen please find my under that rock. I could so use the back up! :D

The reason I didn't like Aspen in the first book was because we never got to see his relationship with America grow, we only heard about it. Seeing Maxon and America's relationship growing from a friendship was really great to see for me. And I do feel for Aspen because all he wanted was a better life for America, and now he's able to provide that for her but she's looking at another man. I know that his decisions have always had America's best interests at the Center, even if it didn't look like that for a while.
My big problem with Aspen came in The Elite after (view spoiler). The fact that he knowingly put not only himself and America in danger of the consequences of being caught, but also Maxon. I thought he was so selfish, to say that he's only wanted what's best for America and then to go initiating secret meetings and notes that could have gotten himself and America either killed or stripped of their castes.
It was stupid, no matter how much he thought that he was fighting for her. And that stupid stupid stupid note (view spoiler)... Really? Reallyyyyy?!
I get that he loves America, I do. He only sees himself with America, okay. But he needed to realize that that is America's decision to make. And he needs to respect whatever decision she does make in the end, if he really loves her as he says he does.
I love you for standing up for your man though haha, Aspen needs people to believe in him too :P
Im soo team Maxon. i usually hate love triangles and feel that the middle character should get over herself(America) and not be as selfish, but the triangle in this book is good. i really don't like Aspen at all. He seems to care about America but i think he really doesn't care what happens to her as long as he gets her. y'all know what i mean? ;P

I was scrolling through Tumblr and found this interview with Kiera Cass, and it brought some insight in regards to the love triangle and what she initally planned vs. what is going to happen. -----------------
Interviewer: Have you known right from the start who America was going to end up with?
Kiera Cass: When I sat down and wrote it out the first time, I did. I knew who she was supposed to be with. And as I got to the end of the first book, I realized I didn’t know America as well as I thought I did—a lot of things about her were different. So when I went back and rewrote it I realized she would pick someone different. So yes and no. Because the person that she ends up with changes. It is exactly who she would have picked, I just wasn’t paying attention.

Team Maxon! Yes, he made some troubling decisions, but what is he supposed to do. America is still having trouble figuring out what she really wants as well. I believe that he truly wants her, but he is in a lot of pressure. Especially after finding out how much control the king has over everyone around. Ugh! Aspen I think is a good guy, but not for America. He is part of her past. She is not who she was before, plus she gave him a chance to make her stay. He didn't take it. So tough luck there. Aspen will find someone.

Okay - I find it hard to believe that Kiera would write a novella from Maxon's POV and then just have Ames turn around and go back to Aspen. I don't think it would be a good idea to anger the majority of her fans who are for Ames and Maxon to be together. It just seems like so many things need to be resolved in one book, that I'm wondering if I'm placing too much importance on minor details or even sentences from The Elite.
For me, I almost cried when Maxon kissed Celeste. I was like, NOOO! And then, when he said something like, "I knew if he couldn't have me he'd want you" I was bawling. It was back and forth.Something really fishy is going on with Aspen. He "loves" her but is constantly putting her in danger of being canned.
I also think it is ironic that America got MAD at Maxon kissing Celeste when she has been kissing Aspen behind his back.
Mer, please go with Maxon! Maxrica all the way or whatever.

I felt betrayed on behalf of America. Which is the same, since I felt betrayed on behalf of Maxon for the past two books.
I have given up on understanding Aspen and his intentions.

TEAM MAXON! <3 Maxon is just so amazing and gentlemanly and patient and caring even though the atmosphere he grew up in is cold. And I understand the whole Kriss thing because America wasn't even giving him a single bread crumb and he needed to have back-up plans since this is such a big decision. And I totally get what he did with Celeste, about him needing to escape and pretend for a moment in his tension-filled life. I mean, I would've been angry about it if America was 100% loyal and not messing around with Aspen but let's face it. She's not. Her indecisiveness was really annoying, tbh.And I hate/loathe/detest Aspen because he's so selfish! The VERY DAY after they witnessed Marlee's public punishment, I would've thought he would stop making advances and think of America's sake but he did the opposite! If he truly cared about her, he would not put her in danger in the first place. And need I remind you, Aspen, you were the one who pushed America to join the Selection and broke up with her. And breaking up with a person generally means you don't have a right to that person's love life anymore. I liked you in the first part of Book 1 but from then on you just went downhill.

I'm 100% for Maxon!!!! But my god all three of them were beyond irritating in this book. Just when I think America and Maxon will finally be together.....nope...... And the sub-plot with Maxon having feelings for Kriss just angered me. None of this would be going on if America wasn't such an idiot. Don't get me wrong I love this series but her actions were the worst part of the book.
I think Kiera wants her readers to fall for the two boys like America. Make it hard to decide who she should choose. That's why at some point it may seem like Aspen is a better choice that Maxon and at some it's the other way around. But Kiera!!! you can't change my mind! I'm team MAXON all the way! haha.

hONESTLY??? I WAS SO PISSED WHILE READING THE ELITE!Ugggh. I have nothing against the author or anything. (Because, really, she is to commended for playing my emotions.) Just the story itself and just the characters itself! Uggh.
I'm team ASPEN now. ALL THE WAY. But even him, I don't like that much. Gaaaah, I wanna throw everything I see now. She should've just left the castle. Then I'll have a peaceful ending. (lol)

Umm I'm team Aspen all the way, I have to admit though that if she does pick Aspen the books would really have no point because then Illea wouldn't change whatsoever and then the King wins and whatnot and thats not how good books end so I feel like she has to pick Maxon and while I like him and all what good does he really do for her? Aspen has always been there for her, other then the whole breaking up with her thing but he said that that was so that she wouldn't have to live with him being a six because he wanted the best for her, thats why he told her to try out for the selection in the first place, because he loved her.
Then once he realized that he could support her as a two he decided to fight for her again, that and he's in love with her. Or he said some form of that, not exact wording, anyway he has always been there for her and he has given her his whole heart while Maxon is off doing things with other girls *celeste* and not able to decide between Kriss and America, I understand that America has made some dumb decisions but if you love a girl it shouldn't matter, honestly I hope she ends up with Aspen and somehow becomes the queen, I understand that that won't happen though, just my dream ending.

Personally I am team Maxon all the way. I was on his team in book 1 and stayed on his team after book 2, even though he did some pretty stupid things :P
