Thoughts after "The Elite": Team Maxon or Team Aspen?

I keep going back and forth between the guys depending on who the story is focusing more on. I think I'm just gonna ride it out till near the end and then make my decision!
You know what had me as Aspen couldn't be trusted was how he was filling up America's head with the negatives...Including passive aggressive comments like: "I know you couldn't imagine Maxon being such a bad guy Mer." (I could be remembering this quote wrong, I don't have the book on hand to double check) How much emotional abuse starts with basically filling up the victim's head with lies? And while he was cradling her after she saw Marlee getting caned, instead of trying to calm her down, and comfort her, he started going on about how Maxon was the spawn of the devil.Maxon, while the things he did wasn't exactly right either, he had a bigger force to reckon with that could've easily arranged a little "accident" for him.
Now on Aspen I don't feel the exact way about him anymore since reading The One, since he's proven not to be an asshole, but the first two books DID NOT do his image any good!

The story was more about America coming into herself with the person she became.
we can see his image sort of in "The Guard". I have always been team Maxon because he is such a gentleman, and even though he never hung out with women, he knew the proper way to treat them with respect. After reading the Selection Stories; the Prince/Guard, my opinion didn't change. Aspen remains frustrating. every time in the elite when he would be with America in secret, I would be freaking out. If he "loved" her he wouldn't be putting her in a danger punishable by death! Americon all the way! or is it Maxica? :)

The Selection changed her, and she wasn't going to be living the Five life anymore after anyways... And honestly if I had someone saying stuff that came off as creepy when I read the book like Aspen did... Well I wouldn't want to readily go back to it either.

I was team Maxon when I red the first book, but after the second one - i'm confused. I do still like Maxon, but my opinion about him isn't as good anymore. After what he did with Celeste, and just being a lot with Kriss and forgetting America, I don't like him as much anymore. I just feel like he could betray America anytime and he just seems to do anything he wants. So, i don't know.
Honestly, I've read through the entire series about five times XD (I know, I have raging social life), and I honestly have to say Team Aspen. Reading The Prince and The Guard really helped me make my choice. Aspen just has this passion, but at the same time, Maxon expects a partner and discovers his love for her while acting as a prince (Not like the job, the character, like saving the damsel in distress) and Aspen wants to be her prince but at the same time respects her as a partner. (view spoiler) But that's just my opinion :D

I'm Team Nobody. I mean... we all know who she's going to end up with. But I have to say I do like Aspen more. I already liked him in The Selection but in the first book I liked Maxon too – I liked them equally. The thing is I don't mind Maxon being with Kriss. He has to choose and for that he has to get to know all of the girls. But what he did with Celeste and his ‘explanation’ for his actions… that was just disgusting. That’s what made me not like him as much as I did before.
And don’t try to tell me that America cheated on him too. They are not in relationship so there’s no cheating. And as I said, I don’t mind him with Kriss at all. It’s not about him cheating on Mer (she was with Aspen too so I couldn’t possibly blame him for sth like that). It’s about the fact that he knows who exactly Celeste is and his shallow reasons for making out with her.
Man... I was so angry that I cried!

But Aspen like you said had some admirable qualities. So as of now I'm team Maxon. But Team nobody sounds appealing.
Team Maxon!! Yes. I know he made some mistakes. But everyone makes mistakes. Right? I do like Aspen but I feel like he keeps putting America in danger by kissing her behind everyone's back. I liked Aspen at the beginning but.... I don't know. Maxon just really seems more into it than Aspen.
I don't really like the switch thing with Maxon because one day their discussing their future and the next day he's off kissing Celeste. Like. What?
Despite the switch thing, Maxon is just the sweetest thing. He got America a blue bracelet from "New Asia" because it made him think of her. To me, that is just the nicest thing. And when America and Maxon were kissing in the rain in The One. I fell in love. It was the most romantic thing ever. It really did get me.
Before I finish this I just want to say this one thing. Does anybody else wanna kick the king in the face or the butt or whatever? The king is just making me wanna slam my book on the ground (even though I would never do that because this book is just to good for that). Anyone?

Uhhhh, team Maxon!! I have a feeling aspen is already with someone else, plus he was the one who broke up with her! And he might have been there for America, but now Maxon is. Did he even actually want to be a guard, or did he just want to see America. They could have gotten killed, because of what he kept risking!! Besides she is now in love with Maxon. Didn't she say in the book that Aspen just confused her?! Maxon and America should totally be together, they belong together!!
TEAM MAXON!!! I got mad at him when he started to get more attracted to Kriss even though I like her a lot! Aspen is a good character but he already said he was done with America, I mean if I was her, I would choose Maxon and The Selection would be done. And I was really mad at him for Marlee. If I was him, when I became king, I would change all the laws and gain friendships in other countries. I really hope America chooses Maxon and forgets about the please-take-me-back-after-I-crushed-your-heart Aspen! :)

Team Maxon. I'm currently reading The One, and tbh Aspen is just annoying the heck outta me. He really always has. But not really in a bad way.
I would say, team, Maxon. Even though Aspen was always there for her, in the next book he's with another girl. Maxon wanted America to be his from basically the beginning. Aspen wouldn't have broken her heart if he hadn't said anything in the tree house. Both Maxon and Apen did so much for America.
TEAM MAXON all the way! At first Aspen seemed like the perfect boy but after meeting Maxon, I fell in love! He was my first fictional character crush! Haha! I loved the entire series and wish that Mrs. Cass continued them on some how.
I don't entirely trust Aspen.....Something about him seems off...

If Aspen truly loved America he would not have made her life so complicated
Personally I feel America should have taken the time to think and should have avoided both Aspen and Maxon.Aspen was a more reliable match .Maxon however,was a bit selfish in using his position to still make out with Celeste and feel justified in doing so.
America however should have known what she was getting herself into.She literally signed herself up for heartbreak when entering the Selection.Maxon was splitting himself into 35 parts in order to find true love rather than devoting himself to one girl entirely.
Aspen was abrupt in his breakup though he just wanted the best for her knowing what she could get out of the selection in terms of safety and an opportunity of a lifetime.
Maxon was more compatible with the blissful,poised Kriss who sincerely loved him.Aspen and America would have been a much more realistic and beautiful couple.
MAXON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. He just stole my heart.
I think Maxon understands her better so I would say Maxon also
Probably this is not the right place for me because I read the whole series but I was team Maxon all the time, even when he was sending mixed signals. Generally I like the first love interest in settings like this but Aspen felt off somehow in this one.
I am all the way Team Maxon. I personally don't like Aspen. Maxon is soo much better!!

Still team Maxon- although she literally doesn't deserve him. America was so annoying in the second book-she just strung Maxon along, couldn't decide on who she loved, and if I was Aspen or Maxon, I would know my worth and choose myself over somebody who didn't know how to choose me. Thats a big red flag to me, if somebody has to decide between two people, and can't decide who they love, it just shows me that they will never truly and fully love me because they will be stuck on somebody else. You shouldn't just be somebodies' option, because if they really loved you, there wouldn't be an option- you would be their one and only.

I was Team Aspen for about the first few chapters of the first book and then I was and am totally Team Maxon all the way.
Team Maxon!!!! Even though I'm am very mad about the whole Kriss situation, I still think Maxon is the one. Aspen I feel doesn't know when she leave. I also don't really trust him or like him. If you had the choice between a guard, who broke your heart and constantly puts you in danger or a Prince that loves you will all his heart and always tries to be nice to you. Who would you pick?
