I like the one Picoult book that I've read, so I might go read it someday :)

These Violent Delights (Robin) | 779 comments I've never done this before but I'm going to try it out. I'm looking for a really good werewolf romance book (could be a series, doesn't matter if it's adult or YA)

I've already read Mercy Thompson series, Nightshade series, and Prince Of Wolves series. I'm pretty sure that's all the wolf shifter books I've read

ahh yes i absolutely love that series !!! i'm looking for female characters like rose. she was honestly so enjoyable to read, most female characters in YA annoy me haha.

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas

message 564: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Have you read Stephen king?

message 565: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Andrea wrote: "Have you read Stephen king?"

I've read Carrie by Stephen King which I found somewhat boring. It was gross, but not scary :D Does that help?

message 566: by Mira (new)

Mira Irene wrote: "So, can anyone recommend me a good scary book? Like scary scary! :D"

You could try Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle . I liked it but it wasn't scary scary it was a little creepy. Okay, a lot creepy. But, to be honest, nothing actually scares me in writing or in movies so maybe you'll get scared? I don't know. If you decide to read it let me know xD Maybe we could BR the second one in the series :P

message 567: by Mira (new)

Mira Can anyone recommend a good book that is not YA? An adult book that is not erotica. I'd take anything at this point.

If your looking for a romance I really like anything by Jojo Moyes, especially Me Before You by Jojo Moyes You could also try any books by Cecelia Ahern or Sophie Kinsella. If your looking for something darker I love Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge or Stephen King? I really like Under the Dome by Stephen King and Night Shift by Stephen King (Which is a short story collection)

Sorry if you've read these, hope I helped a little! :)

message 571: by Mira (new)

Mira @Amy Thanks! Me Before You and Eeny Meeny look interesting, I'm definitely giving them a try :) Stephen King's books are usually too long. How short is that short story collection? XD

message 572: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments I'd recommend:
The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh which took me by surprise. Wasn't expecting much, but so good!
One Moment, One Morning by Sarah Rayner is really good as well
The Rosie Project (Don Tillman #1) by Graeme Simsion is also a favorite of mine, I just read this one for my bookclub, and it's so funny!
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is just a mustread :)
The Midwife of Hope River by Patricia Harman is absolutely amazing. Until this book, I was disgusted by giving birth (sorry!), but this book really changed that. It's beautiful!
Sister by Rosamund Lupton This book just meant a lot to me
The Notebook (The Notebook, #1) by Nicholas Sparks Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks Both are great reads
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer This is really good, and very special I think
My Best Friend's Girl by Dorothy Koomson The first book to make me cry
A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin Well...it's good! :P
P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern My favorite book by this author.

Hope this helps

Try And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie . Gave me chills when I was reading it that I was so scared to go to the bathroom to pee!

message 574: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments haha really? I thought it was "just" a crime novel :D But I'll try it out!

Gross/fun fact: I cried so hard reading Me Before You by Jojo Moyes that I had a nose bleed haha!

Night Shift by Stephen King : If I remember correctly it's around the 500 pages mark, there are a lot of stories though so it breaks the book up overall.

I second Irene's recommendations on The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern The Notebook (The Notebook, #1) by Nicholas Sparks and Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

Really good books! :)

Thanks Irene! :D The Rosie Project sounds great! And I'll give Nickolas Sparks a chance with Safe Haven. I've never read anything by him or watched any of the movies so this should be interesting. I heard a lot about the Alchemist, it's extremely popular in my country, I think because some of the events takes place in Egypt or something, but I never felt like I could get through it xD I should probably give it a shot though. That was really helpful. Thanks :D

Oh man I don't like to cry xD But it sounds interesting so I'll try to keep it together lol

Hmm 500 pages, huh? It's like Stephen King in small dosages xD Could be fun. Thanks Amy!! :D

Amy | 2535 comments Can anyone recommend a good fantasy or paranormal stand alone? I can't find any at the moment and fancy a short read that isn't contemporary. Any help would be awesome. :)

message 587: by Irene (last edited Aug 29, 2014 10:29AM) (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments @Amy - Okay, I'm gonna cheat a little here... Have you read this one: The Murder Complex (The Murder Complex, #1) by Lindsay Cummings It's really good! It's the first in a series, but the rest isn't out yet, so right now it's a stand alone ;) It's quite dark though! And more dystopian book though.
Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies, #1) by Isaac Marion is pretty good as well, and it's not scary at all :) It's kind of a contemporary zombie novel if that makes sense?
Countdown by Michelle Rowen is really good and a favorite of mind. It's like Hunger Games, but it's still its own story :)
I only read the graphic novel of Coraline by Neil Gaiman but it was really good, so I'm guessing the book is as well

Okay, this was harder than I thought. Most books are part of a series haha :D

If series are okay, I'll recommend this one: Oksa Pollock the Last Hope by Anne Plichota It's middle grade fantasy and so, so good and charming and I just love it so much!! :D I recommend it to everyone I ever talk to haha.

Now, I'd like some recommendations on YA books that takes place in France! :D

Tati Irene, if you don't mind reading adult content books, and want something more focused on a celebration, Tempting the Best Man (Gamble Brothers, #1) by J. Lynn is centered around a wedding.
