Please Introduce Yourself, Let's All Get To Know Each Other
@Malina: me too. At least two, but distinct enough, usually of different genres. Life is too short to be monogamous with one book.
I can start two books at a time, but one eventually takes over the other. It happens a lot when I don't know what I want to read next because I read in various genres.
I'm Susan and live in Southern Maryland on theChesapeake Bay. Reading has always been one of my passions. I had show dogs for years and did a lot of traveling always a book, usually a mystery, in hand. Excited about joining this group
Dipanjan wrote: "Welcome to the group Susan. We promise to turn your "passion" into "obsession"."Mixed with a little crazy?
@ DoodlePanda - Just a little dash of it .. for the flavour.@ Susan & Kristy - There is a breed called Dipanjan.
Sheepdogs are adorable, Susan. They seem like hardy, cool weather dogs. @ Dips: I also like Dipanjans, but they can be feisty. Gotta watch out for the teeth.

Heh. Ironic :)
I noticed the posts on reading several books at once. I usually have my kindle down stairs and a book in the bedroom just in case my battery goes dead. I do sometimes get a bit confused.

Minnesota Chris
Hi, I am from the UK and read lots of different genres and many thrilling books!! I have enjoyed a few thrillers and thought your club would be a good place to find out about other good quality, well written thrillers. Thanks for the welcome Sean. I also love being outside and doing yoga

Whoa!! Hey, Susan, then you must go to the author thread and read the SJ Bolton Q&A from about a month or so ago! How many books of hers have you read? Do you have a fav? I have just read the one so far, but plan to get thru all of them.
MN Chris
@ Christine: yes, I usually finish the book that I put down unless I pick up another one that's better. It goes in circles sometimes. How's everything in MN?Hi, Tracy! Welcome to the group.
Janet Sandhu wrote: "Hello Tracy! You'll meet some great people here!"Did you ever get the little diva's picture posted for us?
Hey all! Thanks for the warm welcomes!Wow, this is an active thread! Not sure I can keep up here!
I scanned quickly and saw my name a couple of times...
Christine wrote: I saw a neat James Herriot quote on your home page. Do you have cats? A good many of us do. I have 7!
Wow Christine you have me beat! I only have 5 cats! Yes, I'm a cat lover! But, I love all animals. I also have 3 dogs, but have had up to 18 at one time! Mostly strays and rescues. All my pet are rescues.
Christine wrote: but what are other reasons for having so many going on at the same time?
Pretty much the same thing that Lace said. But, I used to never read more than one at a time. Now that I belong to 2 book clubs, I find I just can't read fast enough doing it one at a time. I would always have my own book going, then add the book club books, and I got impatient to start them and before I knew it I was reading like 2-3 at a time. BUT, they pretty much have to be different genres or I get them confused. Also, I think it's like Lace said, when I get to a slow spot in one, I switch to the other. Plus, I read whatever I'm in the mood for. I kind of look at it like you would changing channels on the tv. Most times, though, one book will just grab me and I read until I finish it! There are just so many books I want to read and my TBR keeps getting higher, and well, I'm not getting any younger, lol. I'm like Lace, I like reading my Kindle at night because it's lighted, but I carry it all over too. Even the beach :)
Marie, I'm a big Harlan Coben and Barclay fan too!
Can someone tell me how to use the quote feature? lol
Hi Gina! To reply to what someone has posted you can hit the reply button at the bottom of their post. Or do a quick copy and paste into the comment box.
Yes, this group is very active!

Very cool! It worked! Thank you, Kristy!
You can get italics by hitting "<" then hitting "i" then hitting ">". You type your comment and after it type"<" then "/" then "i" then ">".hi
Glad it worked, Gina. And I promise no one will care if you make mistakes while trying to figure it all out. Ask questions if you need to, we are all a friendly bunch.
Mike, are you serious? I type all that AFTER I type my comment? Really?? I probably can't remember all that, lol!
Gina, if you go back and click the reply button on your own comment, it will show up in the box and you'll see the html code right after you typed....Very Cool! It worked! Thank you, Kristy. That is why it showed up in italics.

Thanks Mike!
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "Not sure I was clear. Click the html tab above the window and there are explanations. ^"Ok, I see the explanations, but still don't know how to make what I type non-italics

Same here!
I don't think I would be able to follow the story of an audio book if I was doing anything else at the same time... So I might as well read it myself :)
I prefer it quiet when I read too, but I'm starting to get more used to reading with noise around me.
