Veronica Wellington (vwellingtonbooks) | 5 comments Hello everyone,
I'm Veronica, and like all of you, a fan of mysteries and thrillers. I also have a love for all things spooky and strange, and enjoy exploring "haunted" locations. I've shared some of the spooky experiences I've encountered on other websites. I am finally starting to write my first novel, and have been participating in writing groups to make sure it will be a good one. I very much look forward to getting to know you, and learn more about what everyone likes and dislikes about the books we all love.

Jamie Hutchison | 4 comments Just say hello to the group. I live in Gosport England. Wrote a book a couple of years ago as part of a bucket list. No second book was planned but in all honesty I sort of missed my fictional friends (Should I be worried or this is normal behaviour for writers) so I completed a second earlier this year. Books are doing okay with lots of good reveiws but my God a bad reveiw can hurt. When I did get a negative review my wife got me over it by pointing out some terrible and hurtful reveiws on top authors. Some people do appear to go for as much damage to an author as possible. Hey ho if it is not your cup of tea just say so why do people get personal. Anyway I will get off my soapbox. About me. To many years to mention in the Royal Navy which I loved including the Falklands conflict. After military service started working with young people who were homeless from which last week I retired (a little early) to do some travelling whilst I hopefully have a few miles left on the clock. Future plans, will probably do a third book now I have manouvred my main character in the direction I want him to go. When I say I am retired not sure if I will start working again, will leave that decision when I get back from my travels. I am married to a wonderful woman and have two lovely daughters and six gorgeous grandchildren. Look forward to joining in some of the discussions in the group. Oh my favourite authors Jeffrey Archer ( Kane and Abel is brilliant) Robert Ludlum and Tom Clancy.
Jamie

L.A. Kent | 434 comments Jamie hi and welcome. Is there any truth in the rumour of the tunnel from Gosport out to the forts?

message 7812: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Hutchison | 4 comments Hi L.A
Not to my knowledge but Gosport is full of military secrets and history so I would not be surprised if it was attempted at some stage. One of the forts was up for sale a few months ago. I live near the old ammunition depot which still has many of the buildings and berths dating back to the 1700s. Thanks for welcoming me to the group. Lovely day here on the south coast today.

Hi Jamie, it must be quite interesting living so close to where so much military action happened (probably still would if necessary!). No doubt if there is a tunnel, an enterprising time-team type of the future with a new super whizzy see through the ground radar gizmo will find it! Weather here was damp earlier but the sun is now out to play!!

Erica Stinson (goodreadscomerica_r_stinson) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I just stumbled upon this group and decided to join. I have three books under my belt, the first two being a romantic suspense series of two books. Third book was a suspense thriller and my current project is a psychological thriller due out sometime this fall. I gave Camp NaNoWriMo a try recently and really really liked it since I had begun to slack off a bit. It really put my butt in gear all July long and I met quite a few nice people that I shared a cabin with. I will read just about anything, but I really like Tess Gerritsen, Gillian Flynn, Paula Hawkins. I also read fantasy books, as I am a huge fan of David Eddings and the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I plan to tackle the Game of Thrones books as soon as I can find some time lol. I used to own a custom cake business and I like to cook a lot when I am not writing. I am also an avid video gamer for more than 35 years, so that lets the steam off sometimes. That's about it. Really looking forward to being a part of the group and finding some like-minded readers here.

I absolutely enjoy crime and thriller books, have started to go back to the library and also use my kindle more! I love the ability to just escape into a book.

message 7843: by Jan (new)

Jan Wilkes Hello, my name is Jan. I live in a suburb of Dallas, TX, and enjoy many different types of books. My particular favorite, though, is thrillers and mysteries. Some of my favorite authors in this genre are CJ Box, Johnathan Kellerman, Stephen White, Karin Slaughter, Sue Grafton, and Linwood Barclay. I'm married to a non-reader. He is dyslexic and finds it very draining just to read an article in a magazine, but if I'm reading something I think he will enjoy, I will read it aloud to him. I usually read at least one book per week, most of the time more than that.
Glad to meet everyone and look forward to book recommendations and reviews!
