Nick, if you're new and I haven't yet given you your "Welcome to the Family" URL, here it is: Lord of the Dance - Warlords HD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQGQP...

I'm John, I work in London and live in Northants, I'm a journalist (nothing high-brow - just celebrity interviews and lifestyle features!) and I've just released my third novel. All three are thrillers of different sorts.
So much of my time in and out of work is spent writing that I swear by the end of the week, I have actually run out of words to use!
I don't read half as much as I should - if I'm writing my own book, I can't read another author's at the same time for fear of subconsciously copying their style, or realising I'm not half as good as I'd like to be!

Anyway, hi I'm Amy. I live in Texas where it is much to hot to go outside. So I stay inside and write. Reading should happen in there but I feel I'm always behind on books and end up carving out a day every week or two and do nothing but read.
I enjoy reading thrillers, most of them are m/m. So I like the Psycop series a lot and Whyborne & Griffin though sometimes when I'm reading I want to push them into more danger! hahaha

Welcome, Amy!

You are right about that, Kirsten!

I'm on the other side of Texas in Dallas.

My name is Jim and I live in Pennsylvania. I discovered this group through friends on Goodreads. I love to read. Especially mysteries, thrillers, suspense, etc. Some of my favorite authors are:
David Baldacci
Michael Connelly
Daniel Silva
John Sandford
Lee Child
James Lee Burke
I think my love of reading began when I was a young boy and started reading the Hardy Boys. I would read them over and over. I used to give my father allowance money to buy a new Hardy Boys book during his lunch. That was a long time ago but my love of reading remains strong.

I am Disha. I am from Bangladesh. I read all types of thrillers but recently I have become more interested in psychological thrillers. Looking forward to have a good time with the members here.

Hi Jim Welcome to Goodreads, I was like you with Nancy Drew books, couldn't get enough.

Yes John we have readers and writers in our group. A lot of our writer members have done book of the month selections and Q&A sessions along with other thriller writers who are not a part of this group. I think we have one of the best groups on GR and I have been a part of a few and this is one of the most active and member friendly groups.

How does one do a book of the month selection?

Eldon--Right now we are doing a BOTM/Group Read with one of our member authors Dave Edlund called Deadly Savage. Below is the link to add your suggestion for the Group Read.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Yes, Eldon we would vote on it, but mostly for the month we want to do it. Most suggestions are usually accepted and we just try to find a time to fit them into the schedule. Sean, who started this group is usually in charge of finalizing those details since we have other authors outside of the group that he includes with these and Q&A Sessions.
It is not expected or required for you to offer your book for free. Some of our author have done that. Some have offered a few books for free, some have given discount codes, some have done giveaways. I know when we have done Q&A's with authors like Karin Slaughter, the publisher has designated a set of free copies and the best questions have won the book. So it all depends on how you want to handle it and what works best for you.
Even you Lorrea will be surprised which authors are members here.
Eldon, send me a PM. I will add you to a list of authors we are looking at.
I am always waiting to here back from many top authors as well as member authors, we have both.
Lorrea, Karin Slaughter, Linda Castillo, Angela Marsons, Mel Sherratt, Brian Freeman, Linwood Barclay, Andrew Gross, Tom Wood, Simon Kernick, Tom Bale, Clare Mackintosh, Jennifer Hillier, Sharon Bolton(was now left). Dave Edlund, as mentioned.
To name a few.... we have many more.
Also many authors none members are friends and have promised to do Q & A, but difficult to pin them down for dates.
Lorrea has done a great of promoting our Read a long and Q & A's.
Although sadly it can vary so much on members taking part, as this month is also very quite, with saddens me as Dave Edlund has been one of our longest standing loyal members who does take part in our threads.
August we are having a break for the month.
Waiting to hear from two of my favourite authors for a one day special Q & A's, Victor Methos and Mark Dawson.
Too name a few

Thanks Amber!!

I am giving you guys and gals fair warning right now: I am not in a very good mood. My bladder woke me up at 3:30 in the morning and some jackass walking through the alley behind my apartment building set FIRE to an an abandoned kid's mattress! Not having my glasses on at the time and the lighting being so damned poor my own mother, were she still alive, would have looked black, didn't help me in being able to see who the (bleep) it was.
After about ten trips into and out of my bathroom with a bucket of water and assistance from the rainstorm, I put the fire out on my own because I was afraid that IF I waited for the fire department to arrive the fire would spread to my exterior wall.
Then I get BACK to sleep at 5 AM. My alarm goes off at 6:15 so so far today I've had maybe 2 to 2-1/2 frakking hours of sleep.
My med cab driver calls while I'm on my way to my bedroom to start getting dressed for my 8:45 AM PT appointment, but he calls almost an HOUR ahead of schedule! Can't find my medical ID card or my reservation code for the trip home and my damned phone almost dies because of a low battery while waiting for assistance getting my homeward leg of the med cab ride.
And this is all the bad news.
The good news is I got to go to Cahokia because the other passenger in the med cab lives in Cahokia and I wasn't really in a hurry to get home, pack my library supplies and walk to the library.
My YouTube playlist hasn't helped my mood improve yet because I accidentally grabbed my STAR WARS headphones with "Kid Safe" volume so I can't really hear it very well, even at max allowed volume.
Current item on playlist: Carman - Slam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwdZ_... Carman and his dancers look like their costume came straight out of a movie like A Clockwork Orange!

I Live On the Eastern Coast of North Carolina--In Between The Beautiful Outer Banks Beaches to Virginia Beach VA. I Got the Best Of Both worlds. My Lovely wife Susanne (you have probably met her if you know me) & 2 daughters. I Enjoy leisure time too when like flying my remote controlled helicopters, taking long rides, playing violent video games, & rapping with my friends. Yup !! I rap, I was quite good at it when I was younger ( on the radio rap battles) still enjoy it too.

welcome to the new members.
Other authors that I can recommend, are David Baldacci, as mentioned, John Sandford I have never read but have abour 7-8 to read.
I have in my ever growing books, ..."
Sean – Never read John Sandford? What a treat you’re missing!
Years ago I brought home a used Sandford and I enjoyed some of the passages so much that I’d read them to my wife. After 3 or 4 times, she said “Stop reading those to me, I want to read it myself!”
We now have 36 John Stanford hardcovers! We also have 30 James Patterson hardcovers – but we stopped buying them when he started putting out 4 books a year, (“also written by”) books – who knows whether Patterson contributed any part of the book?
My wife also liked Clive Cussler, until he started doing the same as Patterson!
We truly enjoy Tess Gerritsen AND Michael Connelly! (19 Gerritsen and 23 Connelly hardcovers.)
But my favorite is Ken Follett! (So many different genres!)
Somewhere on GR I have a photo of or Bookshelves - but I don't know where?) Approx. 10 feet long and 11 feet high. (We had them made to fit a wall, when we first moved here 33 years ago.
BTW: 'Here' is Southern California, in the High Desert

Just finished Missing, Presumed by Susie Steiner. Having a think about how to rate and review it. At the moment, can say I enjoyed it as an "intelligent" thriller, not break-neck pace but fine characters.
