It was ok, I cannot say I hated it but I did not love it either. Parts of it just felt to predictable.

Hey Dawn had you read the original novel of Fuzzy Nation? Because when I found out that this one is a remake I wasn't sure what I thought if that. I do know that I don't want it to become a trend.

message 2062: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments I'm reading Saving Grace (The Lone Stars #2) by Katie Graykowski , and have a big choice to make after I'm done. I want to read Son of No One, since I just read that whole series recently, but I don't like paying $13 for new releases, especially since I heard it's not very long and I read some really bad reviews. I'll read it at some point, but I'm thinking it'll be after the price goes down. But I also have Dark Skye (Immortals After Dark #14) by Kresley Cole , A Shiver of Light (Merry Gentry #9) by Laurell K. Hamilton , The Undead Pool (The Hollows, #12) by Kim Harrison , the first three books in some shifter series, five or six fireman romance books, and four Trina M Lee 'Alexa O'Brien' books. Maybe some other new releases, but I can't think of what they are at the moment.

message 2063: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Simmons | 4 comments ok so I just finished DivergentInsurgentAllegiant I am still not sure how I feel about the ending of this series and the turns it took. I also finished Outlander and about to start Dragonfly in Amber. I really enjoyed Outlander and look forward to the next one.

I did read Little Fuzzy a long time ago. Honestly my memory could be a little off but it almost felt like two different stories.

In the original I recall being fascinated by alien life. Plus the main character was like a grandfather. The main character in this one is a completely self serving. Fuzzy nation has more world building around corporate and individual greed balanced by imposed responsibilities/regulations.

Anyway I would have to reread Little Fuzzy before I could truly compare but it seemed like a different book. It also probably helped that I listened to it on audio so there is that as well.

As for the trend in remaking books. I admit I am not a fan of the lets dust off the old classic and make it better or different.

Judith Post | 130 comments I just finished Discord's Apple by Carrie Vaughn by Carrie Vaughn. Loved the parts about Alex and Greek myths. Took me a while to get into the main character, but when all of the story threads came together, they really worked. Now I'm reading Ilona Andrews' Magic Slays (Kate Daniels #5) by Ilona Andrews .

message 2066: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments I wasn't convinced by Discord's Apple by Carrie Vaughn I think she tried to cram too much into the story. The premise was good but ultimately I only gave it 3 stars. Glad you liked it though Judith :)

Presently I'm trying to catch up on S.E. Smith's scifi / dragon roms.
Touch of Frost (Magic, New Mexico, #1) by S.E. Smith Jo's Journey (Lords of Kassis, #3) by S.E. Smith For the Love of Tia (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #4.1) by S.E. Smith Rescuing Mattie (Lords of Kassis, #3.1) by S.E. Smith Cornering Carmen (Dragon Lords of Valdier, #5) by S.E. Smith

Angie | 419 comments Goodreads still hasn't added the new Jane Yellowrock book, a book with three short stories, two of which are new, the other only released as an audio book and the title of the whole book. It's called Black Water: A Jane Yellowrock Book. So instead of Feral Sins being what I'm currently reading, I'm going to read Black Water first. Then jump into Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright .

I never read the second book of the series, but loved the first. The books are so long. Eventually I'll probably read it.

Sandra | 4734 comments When I had a look Angie the new Black Water was listed, both kindle & ebook, however it was combined with the audible edition. Now separated & properly labeled.

Sandra, you're the bomb-diggity!! Thanks!! When I search before I posted my last comment, it was showing just the audio. I will say for anyone planning to get this, Snafu, where Jane is interning, is super short! I'm reading the title piece now, which I listened to back when I read the rest of the series, but I'd forgotten most of the plot.

I liked it because of the Greek myths plot. The comic book subplot just didn't do it for me. I had trouble getting into the m/c because I'd have rather seen more of her and her dad, less of the comic book scenes.

message 2073: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments Judith, I liked the Greek myths plot as well. I didn't dislike the book, just felt it could've been better.

No worries Angie, I like fixing the stuffed up books :DD
And of course, it was Jane!

I thought it was good. Half were stories she had released in anthologies, half were new ones. A good mix and a great way to get more in depth view of some of the secondary characters.

OMG Judith!! I adored this book!!! You could check my review (if you're better than me at finding things on this place ;-) because without spoilers I somewhat describe what each story is about. I may have put it in the Shifting Shadows thread here on WYA.

I know, but if you use up your credits often there is a pop up that will let you buy 3 more credits for $34. More money, but... lol

message 2089: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Judith wrote: "Do you enjoy audible as much as sitting down with a book to read?"

I love audio books. I tend to always have one going. They are great for when you are driving in the car, putzing around the house. I even listen when I'm at work and working on spreadsheets.

A couple of weeks ago I was canning salsa and it took all day for 2 weekends. Took a lot of reading time out, but as I had an audio going it didn't bother me. I've even gotten to the point where I listen to them at double speed, regular is just too slow and when I have to listen to that speed due to a formatting issue it drives me nuts.

message 2090: by Judith (new)

Judith Post | 130 comments I've still never tried one. Maybe because I can't multi-task worth crap. I think a story would distract me and my salsa would end up unusual:) But I'm going to have to get brave and give one a shot.

I would give them a try, but maybe see if you can get them through your library, that way you aren't out any money.

I enjoy audio books when I am unable to sit down and read. That is how I am able to read two books at a time. I listen while doing housework, shopping and traveling. I love them!

message 2098: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Judith wrote: "I know, a beginner's question, but how long does it take to listen to a book? Hours and hours?"

Each book is different. For an idea, go to audible.com and check out different books you like and you'll get a better idea.

message 2099: by Leigh (new)

Leigh | 1219 comments Depends on the book but yes. Some as little as 4 hours and some as much as 23 hours. Does your library have ebooks and audios? Each audio will tell you how long it is.

message 2100: by Judith (new)

Judith Post | 130 comments I'm going to go check this weekend. I think I'll start small--4 hours, if I can. Then I'll get braver and stretch for longer books:) Can you tell I'm the type who dips her toes in the pool, then her ankles, etc. before I ever submerge???
