Jane (star_gazing_janey) | 41 comments Reading Why Romeo Hates Juliet by Anna Mara which I'm trying my best not to DNF, but its hard. Today started Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finished Darkness Becomes Her (Gods & Monsters, #1) by Kelly Keaton , was a pretty good book, ended up rating it 3 strs.
tried reading Eye In The Sky by Philip K. Dick but I couldn't get into it - which is a shame cause the blurb sounded awesome.
now reading Nefilim by Åsa Schwarz which so far is pretty interesting - I like how its about protestors against pollution. I haven't really read a book about this before. also I love the cover, how awesome does it look!!

Alrighty, finished Styxx (Dark-Hunter, #23) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . Like I said before, it was a hard book for me to read. But I liked it. A lot! Better than Acheron, in my opinion. And a wonderful romance. Kenyon's best.

After a short break (to recover from Styxx) I'll start my next BDB book Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward .

Well that's good you liked it more than Acheron. So it's not an Acheron Version 2.0?

I loved Lover Revealed.

message 405: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. It is Acheron 2.0. In a major way. But better. In my opinion.

Lover Revealed is a lot better than I thought it would be. I like Butch but wasn't a big fan.

message 406: by [deleted user] (new)

Done with Lover Revealed. Now for Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward . V is my favorite brother so I've been looking forward to this one. And dreading it... I've been warned.

I'll be curious to see if you stay intrigued with the series. Some seem to think the series jumps the shark with book 7 (Lover Enshrined).

message 409: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 09, 2013 07:23PM) (new)

Finished Lover Unbound and loved it! I was worried because I knew about the controversy but I really liked it. I'm continuing. Phury is my least favorite brother - sometimes I just want someone to smack some sense into him. Especially in this last book!

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finished Nefilim by Åsa Schwarz sadly enough didnt turn out to be fantastic, it had a weird paranormal twist which i think the book would of been better off without, though i suppose it did add an unusual twist to the story.
now reading Scent of Magic (Healer #2) by Maria V. Snyder which im VERY much looking forward to starting!!!

I'm glad you liked LUn. I love Phury, but you're not alone in him being your least favorite. Poor Phury can't get enough love. :)

Finished Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward . Read Father Mine: Zsadist and Bella's Story. And now I'm reading Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward . Rehv was the character I was most looking forward to reading. And I'm loving it. My favorite of the series so far.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
Oh my Rehv. (sighs)

So did you like Lover Enshrined?

message 419: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked the book. But for me Ward dropped the ball in the romance. Which is a shame because there were parts I really liked. And I loved the end.

Yeah, I definitely think we needed more Phury and Cormia interactions. Still love them as a couple though!

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finished Scent of Magic (Healer #2) by Maria V. Snyder and it was wonderful!! Snyder is such a talented writer, i absolutely love this series!
tried reading The Eternal War (TimeRiders, #4) by Alex Scarrow but i couldnt really get into it - i accidentally picked up number 4 in the series though at the library, so maybe thats why.
not sure what to read next....

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
Hi Shelly. Opinions are mixed about the BDB books. You should probably browse the reviews and see what varying folks think about it. The first book isn't the best, so if you like it enough to continue, that's great. Don't give up though if you don't love Dark Lover.

message 424: by Bella-Jane (new)

Bella-Jane (belle-jane) | 7 comments I loved the BDB books, My Favorite story is Rhage. I haven't read her last one because of the path she has gone but over all most of the stories are good,

message 425: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm really enjoying the BDB books. I wasn't too impressed with the first one. I have read a ton of paranormal romance vampire books and it seemed like nothing new. And the names were silly. The second one was great. Another Rhage fan. Most fans love the third one best. I didn't. It was my least favorite. But the fourth and fifth were great. In my opinion.

The series starts off as a paranormal romance with urban fantasy elements, then turns into an urban fantasy series with paranormal romance elements. There's still romance. But it isn't the whole book. And the previous books lead into each other. There's no way a reader could skip around like in other series.

Its turning into one of my favorite series. Though, Kenyon's Dark Hunters are still my #1. These are a close second.

message 426: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading The Pirate Lord (Lord Trilogy, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries . It's an okay read. But I think I'm missing my vampires. Why doesn't anyone write a book about a vampire pirate... ? Can't be the only one who thinks that sounds like a good idea. Lol.

I know the feeling, Traci. My two favorite sub-genres are historical and paranormal. I can't stay away from either too long.

message 428: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Luhrs (cynthialuhrsauthor) I loved the BDB books but it took me a while to get past the names as well. Also love Kenyon. Just finished Styxx and really liked how it ended.

I think a vampire pirate is a great idea!

message 431: by Shelly Jenkins (new)

Shelly Jenkins | 10 comments Vampire Pirate....that is BRILLIANT!!!!!!! I want to read about a vampire pirate! :( There has to be a vampire pirate somewhere.

message 432: by Shelly Jenkins (new)

Shelly Jenkins | 10 comments I found a vampire pirate book! It's the Vampirate series. But it doesn't look like a romance novel. The first is Demons of the Ocean by Justin Somper.

Oh found a romance: Ravenous by Abigail Barnette. I might have to dip a toe in the vampire pirate pool.

Just read Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, #4; Were-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Love Zarek!
Starting Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth for the September Challenge.

message 436: by [deleted user] (new)

I do like the Dark Hunters better. But its more my taste than any other reason. I grew up reading Anne Rice and love gothic books. And most of Kenyon's books center around New Orleans. Also I'm a huge Greek mythology fan. And this plays a big part in her series as well.

I'll have to check those vampire pirate books out. Kenyon has a pirate Dark Hunter I'd love for her to write a book for. Lol.

Kansas | 5 comments I just read Heat, by r.l. smith (or r. lee smith). Wow, this is really quite a book. A dual story, from the perspective of the good guy/girl, and the very bad guy/possibly victimized but maybe also very bad girl. Science fiction, some creature action but pretty humanized, extremely violent. Beautifully written. It really sucks you in. It was a very compelling read.

Warning - there is some heavy stuff in here, esp in the bad man/bad woman-victim story. It's pretty serious sadomasochism/power, not at all ritualized, the author plays it out in real time.

I suspect I would have loved it a lot more if I'd read any of the other books in the series! But I do like the way she writes her action scenes.

Yeah, it relies very heavily on especially the prior book.

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) tried reading Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts though I couldn't get into it. than I read Bring on the Night (WVMP Radio, #3) by Jeri Smith-Ready which was alright, bit cliché but readable.
almost finished Survivor (Alone, #2) by James Phelan which is pretty good, last book blew my mind! I have high expectations of this book!!
