What are you reading, Part II? (2013--New Year, New Books!)

How about the play by play series by Jaci Burton?

I just finished reading Soulless: The Manga, Vol. 1 and am starting the actual novel today.

Is that one way? That stinks.
I don't know if I'd try audio. I enjoy the reading.
Yeah, I used to have an 1 hr, ten minute ride to work, and 1 hr plus ride home. So almost 3 hours in the car.
Some books are really good on audiobook, especially with an excellent narrator who can make all the voices sound different.

Mine is a two hours there and a two hours back commute and listening to audiobooks just makes it fly by.
I never thought I would enjoy listening to book because I have a strong visual memory and really need to see the words in front of me. That said, I cannot read first person POV but listening to it is a solution and now I get to "read" all those great UF books I was missing out on.

You guys have a really bad commute. My longest was 40 minutes but I used to visit my parents every weekend, which was 2 hrs one way.
Now mine is 30 minutes and no weekend drives.
Like you Lauren, my visual memory is stronger.
I don't have the commute anymore. It wasn't easy, but I got used to it. It was just normal for me.
I'm not too fond of 1st person POV when it comes to romance, but it works very well for UF and mystery/suspense.

I just finished two steampunkish books in a row: The Iron Wyrm Affair and By the Blood of Heroes. I'll probably start First Grave on the Right on audio tonight as well as some other books.

Oh, definitely, Lauren. She has me cracking up.
I am reading the Sentinels, Sky. My sister raved about it, which always gets me curious. It's a great series. I need to get caught up though.

I just finished Grave Mercy, which is a historical fantasy about a female assassin in service to the Saint/god Death. There is a nice romance embedded in the story. Sort of reminds me of Anne Stuart's historicals.
I'm reading Ironskin, which is like a Jane Eyre retelling with a beauty and the beast feel, and some fae thrown in. It's good.

The Sentinel Wars is a great series - very underrated, IMO. My favorite is book #4.
Now reading

I had a crazy weekend! Good news is I did finish First Grave on the Right on audio, and I really enjoyed it. I have the serious hots for Reyes, but I also like Garrett. Charley is a fun heroine and the idea was very cool. I will be continuing the series.
I also started Scoundrel and Bennett is definitely a DHASG caliber hero.

I think a lot of folks are feeling the same way, Alisa! I have to wait until after April 1st to get my copy.

April 1st!!??!! That's horrible.
Yup! In a way I don't mind because I don't have time to go into hermit mode to read the book this week.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the book and didn't give away any spoilers, Alisa. It's going to be hard to avoid them from now on until some of us get a chance to read it.

Now listening to

I like to be 100% spoiler free for the BDBs and a few others, especially my favorites, Alisa. I think I will enjoy LaL. Thanks!
Lauren, I am going to try to get the next Charley Davidson book on audio in the near future from the library.

The next book in the series is Great!! They get better as the series progresses.

@Eleighna - I've heard that from many book buddies. I liked Cat and Bones in this one but something was missing. Hopefully it will be there in the next book.
Lauren, the humor is pretty corny and pun-heavy at times, but I can understand why Charley uses humor that way. Her life could be pretty dark otherwise.
I just finished two ARCs, Whisper's Edge: A Cricket Creek Novel, which is small town romance, and Something Wicked, which is romantic suspense. Both are good reads.
Isn't Lisa Jackson heavy on the suspense and very light on romance? I seem to remember reading something of hers and thinking that.

I think I have or had something of her in my TBR mountain and felt intimidated by the size. lol I wonder if I still have it.

I do have to warn it's part of a series. I haven't read the other books and I was okay, although there is definitely a backstory going on.

Lund's previous 3 books are PNR
