What are you reading, Part II? (2013--New Year, New Books!)
Finally got the new Maya Banks KGI book from the library!
I'm a sucker for dangerous military heroes.
I didn't love books 4 and 5 in this series, but have read the first three several times, so I'm hoping this one pulls me back in.

I have that one and plan to start it tomorrow. This one has been getting good ratings so we can hope it is good.
I just finished reading the 11th novel in the Midnight Breed series Edge of Dawn. It was excellent. I was planning on giving up on the series but I'm glad I picked it up. Adrian really jumpstarts the series with this one especially since its about Kellan and Mira who were children in the last few novels.
Kryptonite wrote: "How'd you get an advanced copy? This book is on my wait list. I really enjoyed book 1 of this series."I signed up with NetGalley and you can request an advanced copy up but its up to the discretion of the publisher. You have to be a reviewer. If you are very active in Goodreads, it helps. I'm pretty new to the system though so I can't say for sure. I've just lucked out so far.

I want to hear what you thought about the book. I haven't read the KGI series yet. I'm still on the waiting list at my local library. Can't wait to try it.

I just finished
and it was ok. I thought w/Wraith's horrible past that his book would be great. (I love the tortured male who finally gets his hea) But.....not so much. The first two books in the series were a lot better IMO.
I just finished
. Wow, I think you all must read this. Definitely an unique UF with the POV is told from first person (the heroine), but she also told her sisters story as well. I like it when the author try to matched the sisters (4 of them) will hunky werewolves, lol! Also finish
. J.D.Robb never disappoint :)

Really. I didn't think that would be possible. Can't wait! Thanks.

I was also disappointed in the last one - started to worry that Banks had begun to lose steam but I've heard great things about this one.
Sarah MacLean is joining us for a Getting to Know Session tomorrow, Feb. 4, so please drop by and say hi and help us welcome her to the DHASG!

I just finished a book where the hero is the son of a high demon lord, and the heroine is an ice elemental. It was a good read. I'd recommend it. Journey Of The Princess Of Ice
Earlier, I read The Toymaker, which was a sweet Regency historical.
Next, I'll be reading My Mate's Embrace, about Russian werewolves. Is that up my alley or what?

Currently reading Eternal RiderI loved the demonica series, which I read a couple of years ago. Enjoying getting back into Ione's world of demons and riders ;)
Currently listening to
- it is a pity that the narrator is so wooden because they characters and story are very appealing.

Lady Danielle aka The Book Huntress wrote: "That is too bad, Lauren. A bad narrator can practically ruin a book reading experience."Yeah, I know what you mean. Unfortunately, the books are first person, which means listening is my only avenue.

The newest books in the series (
) have a different narrator - Sophie Eastlake. The narrator for the first five is Cynthia Holloway. My problem with her is the lack on inflection - all the voices, male and female, sound alike. She also reads to fast (never thought that would be a problem for me).

Thanks! I kept looking at audible and it isn't there yet. Don't know if I want to spend that much money, when I have lots of credits there.

I just finished reading Dream Eyes and enjoyed it though it lacked the usual character development.
I also spent last weekend on a reading marathon re-reading the whole Ghostwalker series by Christine Feehan. It makes more sense when one reads it in order ;)
Jean, I did a GhostWalker reread last year. I want to do it again. Love those books!
Alisa, the Connor Gray series is great. I hope you're enjoying Unshapely Things.
I am reading Dragon's Heart, and it's goood! The hero has some serious charisma.
Also started You and I, Me and You, which promises to be interesting!

I also keep hoping that Violet isn't as cold hearted or ambitious at she's portrayed but playing a very deep game to thwart Whitney. Also had to laugh when Kane couldn't handle the word Contraction....hahaha...I can't believe I missed that the first time I read it.
Don't tempt me, Jean! I probably need to focus on some other series right now. Maybe before the next book comes out. Yes, Kane was hilarious!
Oh man, I can't imagine a world without the GhostWalkers. I am obsessed. Trying not to think about the fact that there won't be a new one this year...

I did too. I loved that series. The new spin off series starts with Run the Risk
Finished listening to
- loved the narration, the plot and the characters. Can't wait to learn more about Charley and Reyes. Now listening to
and will start reading
I loved City of Bones. I need to give that audiobook for First Grave on the Right another try when I can focus on it more. I was trying to do intense paperwork at the time, and that's one you need to listen to very well.

I have a 4 hour commute twice a week, so I get a lot of listening done.
I started the new year with the first book in the prequel to the Bedwyn series by Mary Balogh, One Night for Love. What a great start of the year it has been. I'm down to the last few chapters of the last book of the series and it's been wonderful! I'm thankful to have discovered such a wonderful author this year!
I have been all over the map on the books I have read since the beginning of 2013. Started the Black Dagger Brotherhood series;Midnight Breed series; the Mackenzie series by jennifer ashley, House Rules/chicagoland series; Lisa Kleypas Wallflower series; and a few others. Always looking for a good series to read. Any suggestions?
