Kenneth McKinley | 277 comments Morning fellow Constant Readers. I'm Ken and I cut my teeth in the horror genre while in junior high with King's Pet Sematary. I've been hooked ever since. My favorite of his are Pet Sematary, It, Cujo, The Dead Zone, The Shining, Christine, Tommyknockers and more. Ive recently read Doctor Sleep and loved catching up with Danny Torrance.

Emil | 25 comments Greetings to everyone. My name's Bill. I'm 24. I first got acquainted with Stephen King while in collage one afternoon, when I spotted a local bookshop from the window of my apartment down the block, deciding to go and pick a read. It was Blaze. I quit collage that same semester but I never quit reading his books ever after. Writing has become even a stronger impulse for me, thanks to King.

Justice (HavenTierra) Good morning. I'm justin from NJ, and i'm a huge King fan / horror fan. I was never much into reading until my early 20's when i went back to school and eventually picked up some King novels (I always loved the movies since i was a kid). Right off the bat, i fell in love with The Dead Zone, Black House, Salems Lot, Misery, the Mist. Books that til this day are very very special to me and even changed my life lol. Eventually I started trying other authors and found some goodies but King is just the best and i'm grateful for his work

Jon | 20 comments Hello I'm Jon from UK. Goodreads member for six months or so. Stephen King has been my favourite author since I read IT for a school essay in 1991. I next read Needful Thinks, Nightmares & Dreamscapes and Insomnia and I was hooked. I think I've read about 35 of his 56 novels and collections. I recently finished Doctor Sleep and Joyland and also Wolves of the Calla (I take long breaks (months or years) between DT novels!) but Song of Susannah is up next (ten years after publication).

I'm currently reading The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers.

As a recommendation to anyone who reads this 'introduction', I recommend the novella "1922" from "Full Dark No Stars". Killer story.....

I'm with you Justice. I've read lots of writers, Sometimes it's a struggle. But King's work is always so simple, clean, clear, almost comforting in that way. When you pick up each book you know you're going to make some wonderful friends, and share some great adventures.

Nickronomicon | 23 comments Hi everyone! Big King fan, reborn. When I was younger (probably too young really)I read everything he wrote until the Insomnia/Desperation/Regulators era, then kind of fell off. My love for his books was reignited when I read 11/22/63 last year. My favorite is a toss-up between Pet Semetary and It.

message 410: by H (new)

H Hunt | 98 comments King.... A Master..... Incomparable.... He's taken me on the greatest adventures of my life... And I will always say that when I read its the only time I fly.....
"Fiction is the truth inside the lie, and the truth of this fiction is simple enough: The Magic Exists" Stephen King=+=

Hi Holly, welcome. Be sure and read Joyland if you haven't. Also take a look at the books by King's son, Joe Hill. NOS4A2 is really great. Ocean at the End of The Lane is kind of a YA/adult book, that I like anyway. If you're looking for literary style try Love In The Time Of Cholera, (which I'm reading now and loving) or even The Tiger's Wife.

Sue Palone | 2 comments Joined Goodreads awhile back but only just started adding books, etc. New to the reading groups but this sounds like fun!

I have been reading Stephen King's books right from the start with Carrie - wow I just dated myself! I still remember picking it up and thinking, Oh this sounds different, guess I will try it. Been addicted to his books ever since.

Hi Andrew. It is one of my all time favs. I still haven't read the Dark Tower series. I hope it's as good as the Stand. I've read that King described it to be his magnum opus. I can believe that.

Hey Steff, welcome. What do you like about Buick 8... have to confess it wasn't one of my favorites.

message 446: by Evert (new)

Evert Hi guys, I'm Evert van Urk. I'm Dutch and I'm teaching English as a foreign language. I've written some stories in the past and am aiming to write more. Consequently, I need to read more too, something that isn't as easy for me it seems. It's not in my system yet to pick up a book whenever I'd turn on the TV or do something else in my spare time. I'd like to change that and that's why I joined this group. Whenever I do read I like to read books written by Stephen King.

Favorites so far: It, Dark Tower 1+2 (I'm at 6 now) I liked the Mist and the Mangler as well.

Least favorites so far: Cujo, Dark Tower 4

Anyway, I hope to get to know some of you better and I'll be around to discuss some books, especially the monthly books since that is helping me to read more. I also hope to learn from you guys in the discussions.

Evert Hi Jamie.
Will you be joining the group read this month?

message 449: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth McKinley | 277 comments I'm with you Nick. From a Buick 8 is from that period of late 1990s to early 2000s where I really didn't care for a lot of King's writing. Too much rambling and not enough teeth. But, that's the great thing about Stephen King. He has something for everyone. One man's drivel is another man's favorite read. Many people thumb their nose at Tommyknockers. I love that book. Even King at his worst is better than vampires that sparkle in my book.
