Introduce Yourself- part 2

For me, The Dark Tower series, and the accompanying Marvel graphic novels, sum up my obsession for the man. It's fantastic to find like minded people here, with a real passion for King. We are Ka-Tet and for this I say Thankee-Sai

I can remember finding Carrie in the library stacks back in the 70's. I was in high school. I have been hooked every since and have read all the books, many more than once.
The Dark Tower series is my favorite and since so many other books are connected to it (Salems' Lot, The Stand, Insomnia..) I have a lot of favorite King books.

Jana, I would recommend Pet Sematary or Misery for your next read! Two of my favorites! The Dark Tower series is also high on my favorites list!

I believe Misery is close to the perfect book and I came to that belief after having listened to it on audio book (I have also read it, seen the movie and a play!). Every word, sentence, scene fits perfectly. I second Regina's recommendation for Misery.

Welcome to the group & I second Pet Sematary the best pure horror book King has written & am yet to read Misery but I hear it is good. The book I always recommend to people new to King is The Dead Zone it is the best king book in my opinion as it fits the taste of different kinds of readers & not only horror fans.It is also not overly long which is known to put off some new readers.

Wow.. welcome to all the new members. This group is growing so quickly. It amazes me how many international members we have!

Hi, Hamza! I'm a huge fan of Stephen King, too. My first King novel was IT. I recently finished reading Joyland and it was excellent.
Welcome to the group!:)
Welcome to the group!:)
It's King's scariest book. Terrified me when I read it at age 18.

I'm reading this book right now. My copy is 1135 pages or so but I do really like it. Heavy to hold on to, though . . . Don't let the length intimidate you. I think you will like it quite well.

.but grumpy spinsters with a heart of gold are classic!! I love the description and anytime those characters are in movies/tv. Glad you joined and are a fan of King!

In.

Kell, this is the first thing I saw this morning when I got on the computer. Started my day off with a smile. Thanks =)

My name is Adrian. I have been a huge horror fan for a long time. I started with horror movies, but now find that when I read a book, the things my mind can come up with while reading books is so much more horrific than anything I can see on a movie screen.
I just finished Horn by Joe Hill and loved it. So I'm very excited to start NOS4A2 which I have already purchased. Glad to be apart of a group that is into the same books and genres that I am.
Thanks all. Have a great one!

I started reading Stephen King many years ago and have recently started re-reading some of his earlier books. I am currently reading Needful Things and recently finished Salem's Lot.I find upon re-reading his books, that I'm discovering more depth in them than I did earlier; i.e, his spot-on criticisms of small towns and the evil and backbiting that goes on behind locked doors.

I'm kind of a beginner with Stephen King's literary metaverse, but in spite I've read few of his work I find it captivating.
I'm currently in my way to read the Dark Tower saga. I found a reading order in amazon, so and about to read Salem's lot, then The Stand and Eyes of the Dragon to begin with the DT saga itself.
And also looking forward to participate in the reading group. I already got a copy of NOS4A2 for August and Joyland for September.
Hope we have some fun in this group.

Hi, Scott. Glad to be on this message board with people who like the same kinds of books. I saw Nos4a@ at the library but couldn't quite decide to borrow it. How would you compare Joe Hill to his father? I started Heart Shaped Box but couldn't finish it; it just didn't grab me at the time. Maybe I should it another chance.

I absolutely enjoyed Nos4a2 better than Heart Shaped Box. I put HSB down a couple of times. Nos has a wider scope and the characters are much more developed. It's a little tongue in cheek sometimes...he's definitely having fun. He's by no means his father...but given time and experience...who knows what he'll be able to do. In many ways Joe is creating horror...while SK is crafting a story that canbe horrific.

I can't wait to read this for the group read. I think it will be fun to discuss.

I'm a HUGE fan of Stephen king! My favorite book is without hesitaiton Needful Things :) I have red it so many times I had to buy a new edition cuz the pages were falling out of the book and my tape job wasn't holding it anymore.
Looking forward to learn more about the author and maybe books I haven't explored yet :)
