Cath (cathastrophic) | 2 comments Hello!

I'm Cat, Event planner in beautiful Montreal :)

I'm a HUGE fan of Stephen king! My favorite book is without hesitaiton Needful Things :) I have red it so many times I had to buy a new edition cuz the pages were falling out of the book and my tape job wasn't holding it anymore.

Looking forward to learn more about the author and maybe books I haven't explored yet :)

Aaron | 2 comments Hello, my name is Aaron and I've been a King fan for about 3-4 years now. I started with 'The Shining' and I always tell people who haven't read any SK to start with that one. I have about a billion books to read and most of them are books written by good ol' Stevie.

message 56: by Simon Curtin (new)

Simon Curtin Hello all, I'm Si. My first King book was 'It', which was given to me by a friend when I was 15. I've been hooked ever since!

For me, The Dark Tower series, and the accompanying Marvel graphic novels, sum up my obsession for the man. It's fantastic to find like minded people here, with a real passion for King. We are Ka-Tet and for this I say Thankee-Sai

Jessica Chantelle (shanti15) | 0 comments Hey everyone. My name is Jess. I'm excited to join the group. It seems fun. I love everything I've read by Stephen King so far including Carrie, It, Under the Dome, Skeleton Crew, and Misery. Cant wait to read them all!

Regina (reginadurben) | 10 comments My name is Regina. I am new to goodreads and to this group! My favorite author is Stephen King. I also enjoy Gillian Flynn, Neil Gaiman, Joe Hill, and Sarah Gruen. I am glad I found this group! Stephen King has been my favorite author for years but I don't have many people to discuss his books with! So excited a friend referred me to this site!!

message 59: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Lape | 10 comments Hi! I am Lynn. I just discovered Goodreads and immediately looked for a Stephen King group since King is my all-time favorite author.

I can remember finding Carrie in the library stacks back in the 70's. I was in high school. I have been hooked every since and have read all the books, many more than once.

The Dark Tower series is my favorite and since so many other books are connected to it (Salems' Lot, The Stand, Insomnia..) I have a lot of favorite King books.

Jana, I would recommend Pet Sematary or Misery for your next read! Two of my favorites! The Dark Tower series is also high on my favorites list!

I believe Misery is close to the perfect book and I came to that belief after having listened to it on audio book (I have also read it, seen the movie and a play!). Every word, sentence, scene fits perfectly. I second Regina's recommendation for Misery.

Aditya Jana wrote: "My name is Jana, and I am new to Stephen King and have only read Salem's Lot and The Stand AND LOVE them both!!!!!! I just started The Shining! Really love the writing and would love recommendation..."

Welcome to the group & I second Pet Sematary the best pure horror book King has written & am yet to read Misery but I hear it is good. The book I always recommend to people new to King is The Dead Zone it is the best king book in my opinion as it fits the taste of different kinds of readers & not only horror fans.It is also not overly long which is known to put off some new readers.

message 64: by Taylor11 (new)

Taylor11 | 2 comments My name is Taylor. I just joined. My fave SK book is The Talisman. I just finished Under the Dome last week. Joyland the week before that. I think I've read at least 90% of his books including the Dark Tower series. The Stand, Needful Things, Desperation and the Regulators are also some of my faves.

Welcome to the group!:)

message 78: by Hamza (new)

Hamza | 4 comments I have IT in Hardcopy but can't bring myself to read it , its atleast 900 pages...

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

It's King's scariest book. Terrified me when I read it at age 18.

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

Hamza wrote: "I have IT in Hardcopy but can't bring myself to read it , its atleast 900 pages..."

I'm reading this book right now. My copy is 1135 pages or so but I do really like it. Heavy to hold on to, though . . . Don't let the length intimidate you. I think you will like it quite well.

message 81: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (bookswithbrookes) | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm Jennifer from Texas. I'm trying to become more active on Goodreads, it's an amazing site and naturally I had to join groups dedicated to my favorite writer. I've been reading Stephen King since I was 9 and would borrow my older sister's books and that's how I became hooked on King. I've read everything he's published with the exception of Joyland, that's next on my list. My favorites are the Dark Tower series.

message 82: by Ilsa (new)

Ilsa | 2 comments My name is ilsa, and I have been a fan of King since the beginning of it all! I read, because I no longer watch TV and reading gives me an escape into whatever worlds there are out there. I have certain fave authors, but King is my all-time fave, and the Dark Tower is the best. I have almost all of the books he has ever written so I will try to join in the discussion whenever I have a few minites!

Mindy Reads (mindymcmillan) My name is Mindy. I just joined the group, but have not read all Stephen Kings books. I've read quite a few, but it's been a while and I'm struggling to remember the details. I just remember not being able to put them down. I recently reread The Shining and Desperation and I still am obsessed. I'm looking forward to rereading and reading all his books and finding some other books by different authors that I also might enjoy!

message 87: by Lee (new)

Lee Frost | 1 comments Hello all, I've been an avid King reader for the past two years now. I'm a 31 year old father of 3 and live in the midlands. The Shining was the novel that kickstarted it all, never imagined a writer could invoke the sort of emotions that King achieves. My collection is about 70% complete and my current favourite is 11/22/63. I've just discovered how good Joe Hill is also. Feel free to add me as I'm severely lacking in the friends dept!

message 93: by Adrian (new)

Adrian Hawkins Hi all,
My name is Adrian. I have been a huge horror fan for a long time. I started with horror movies, but now find that when I read a book, the things my mind can come up with while reading books is so much more horrific than anything I can see on a movie screen.

I just finished Horn by Joe Hill and loved it. So I'm very excited to start NOS4A2 which I have already purchased. Glad to be apart of a group that is into the same books and genres that I am.

Thanks all. Have a great one!

message 94: by Carol (new)

Carol Greenspan | 6 comments Hi, I'm a newbie here - my name is Carol & I live in Queens, N.Y.
I started reading Stephen King many years ago and have recently started re-reading some of his earlier books. I am currently reading Needful Things and recently finished Salem's Lot.I find upon re-reading his books, that I'm discovering more depth in them than I did earlier; i.e, his spot-on criticisms of small towns and the evil and backbiting that goes on behind locked doors.

message 95: by Scott (new)

Scott | 88 comments Welcome Carol and Adrian. Carol, I reread Salem's Lot last year and I completely agree. Adrian, Horns is on my TBR list...but finished Nos4a2...and I loved it. Heart Shaped Box is creepy as well...if you haven't read it.

message 96: by Jonnathan (new)

Jonnathan (j0j026) Hi, I'm Jonnathan Villalobos from Maracaibo, Venezuela.

I'm kind of a beginner with Stephen King's literary metaverse, but in spite I've read few of his work I find it captivating.

I'm currently in my way to read the Dark Tower saga. I found a reading order in amazon, so and about to read Salem's lot, then The Stand and Eyes of the Dragon to begin with the DT saga itself.

And also looking forward to participate in the reading group. I already got a copy of NOS4A2 for August and Joyland for September.

Hope we have some fun in this group.

Hi, Scott. Glad to be on this message board with people who like the same kinds of books. I saw Nos4a@ at the library but couldn't quite decide to borrow it. How would you compare Joe Hill to his father? I started Heart Shaped Box but couldn't finish it; it just didn't grab me at the time. Maybe I should it another chance.

message 98: by Scott (new)

Scott | 88 comments Carol,
I absolutely enjoyed Nos4a2 better than Heart Shaped Box. I put HSB down a couple of times. Nos has a wider scope and the characters are much more developed. It's a little tongue in cheek sometimes...he's definitely having fun. He's by no means his father...but given time and experience...who knows what he'll be able to do. In many ways Joe is creating horror...while SK is crafting a story that canbe horrific.
