Sometimes, I don't mind it. With writing, if your creative compass is off, you edit, that is, if your reasoning skills are operating at full capacity, & then, there's the promoting. The easiest because it is less brain work.

Reading to groups in book shops that is edgy seat-of-your-pants, sometimes, being a performer.

So much to do, got to have a lot of gears.

Conor | 7 comments Hi, I'm Conor and I started reading King's work around 15 years of age, and never looked back! I've read about 11 books, give or take a few, and each one is just spectacular. It's my goal to read and own a copy of them all, and some day get my very first King read, 'Salem's Lot, signed by the great man himself!

Stephanie HI, My name is Stephanie and I have been a fan of Stephen King's work since I was very young and got a hold of my mom's copy of Pet Cemetery. I have read most of his older books and I am still working on the newer ones. Just finished reading "Under the Dome" last month. I'm ready to jump into "Doctor Sleep" as soon I receive my copy! It's nice to meet everyone.

Hi!
I love this page! He's my all time favorite writer. If you like his stories and horror, thriller or fantasy or syfy books then you will like this group "For The Love Of Horror" that I made. Please come over and join the group! We offer authors the chance of submitting their own books to be read along with many other things. So I hope to see you all there!

Andrew✌️ (andrew619) | 335 comments Hello! My name is Andrew and I am here in this group since a few days. King's novels have always fascinated me, but till now i must admit that I read only a little part. I hope that in the future the things will change.

message 312: by David (new)

David James Hey, I'm Dave. I have been a King reader from the moment I found the joy of reading novels. Earlier this year I assembled a checklist and I'm currently attempting to collect every first edition (except for the extremely rare stuff), even if my wallet disagrees.
I am currently on the final Dark Tower novel, but I would say my favorite King books are: The Stand, The Long Walk & 'Salem's Lot.

Dave, Welcome. Glad to have you here. Because you and I and so many others are fans of The Long Walk I googled it and Wickipedia says that King claims that it's the first novel he ever wrote, started it 8 years before Kerrie when he was at the University of Maine. I wonder if he knows how demoralizing it is for other writers to know that.

message 314: by Tereece (new)

Tereece Gonzalez (Tgomojo) | 1 comments Hi I am new to this group. I do participate in 2 SK groups on Facebook. The first SK book I read was IT. I have been a fan for 25 Years. :)

Dan (dan2345) | 170 comments Hi I'm Dan. I'm pretty sure I introduced myself in the thread that got deleted. Well here are the King books I have read so far...
'Salem's Lot by Stephen King The Shining (The Shining, #1) by Stephen King Pet Sematary by Gregory Evans The Dark Half by Stephen King Night Shift by Stephen King 11/22/63 by Stephen King

message 316: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (sweetness4106) | 3 comments My name is Jessica. I've been reading Stephen King since i was a teenager in the late 90's. My goal is to read every one of his books and have read a great majority. Still need to tackle the Dark Tower series. Excited to join a group who is as devoted to Stephen King as I am and to be able to discuss his book since I'm practically the only one I know who loves to read. lol.

message 317: by Nick (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Welcome, Jessica. There's a long discussion devoted to this, but just for starters, what are your favorite King books?

message 318: by Faris (new)

Faris Morgan (gavinfaris) Hello! Been on goodreads about a year. LOVE THIS PLACE. I also love King's books. Read all the Dark Tower books twice as well as a bunch of others. What can I say, he's my favourite writer. Thinking of reading The Shining soon.

message 319: by Adora (new)

Adora Dearheart Hi, I'm Sue. I love reading in general but my favourite authors are Stephen King, Terry Pratchett, Peter Straub and Dean Koontz. I couldn't possibly pick a favourite King book, they all have their own merits but the ones I was probably saddest to finish, after waiting desperately for the last one, are the Dark Towers.

So, Faris, I'm pretty much alone, I'm afraid, in thinking that Wizard and Glass is one of King's best. If you've made it through the dark tower twice; so I have to ask you, am I nuts, misguided, or close to right?

message 321: by Faris (new)

Faris Morgan (gavinfaris) You're gonna hate me for this but I think Wizard and Glass is my least favourite book. Still an awesome book! But my least favourite. I know it explains a little about Roland's history, which is great, but I don't think there needed to be an entire book on that one story, when they already have an epic one running. That's just my opinion though! All the books rock! :P

I guess there's a lesson here for writers and maybe you've summed it up best, if you've got a good story going, devoting a lot of time to a backstory that is way off the point is a mistake. Unfortunately, I just made that mistake... so live and learn I guess.

message 323: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Boatenreiter (cboatenreiter) Hi, I'm Crystal. Been reading Stephen King for almost 20 years, since I snuck a copy of The Stand off of the hallway bookshelf at 10....not sure I'll ever get over that trauma! I'm a Dark Tower fanatic, I blew through the whole series in just a few months...I couldn't stop. Happy to be part of the group :)

message 324: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 341 comments Hi Crystal! Great to have you hear - I'm a massive DT fan too, I think you'll fit right in!

Stacie C (thenextbook) Hey Guys! I'm Stacie, new to goodreads but I've been a Stephen King fan for almost 20 years. Glad to be in a group that loves his work like I do!

message 326: by Frank (new)

Frank Jacquindo Hello everyone...I'm new to goodreads but not to Stephen King. I've been a "Constant Reader" since finding a copy of "The Stand" in a local book store many years ago. (Remember book stores?) Over the years I've had the good fourtune to see Mr. King at several events and I'm a collector of signed editions of some of his work.

message 327: by Malina (new)

Malina | 304 comments Welcome Frank!
The Stand is my all time favorite King book.
Wow you are lucky to have met him and have signed books, I'm jealous!

message 328: by Ashia (new)

Ashia Like Aша (gargcore) | 3 comments Hola! I'm Ashia, and I am a fairly new member of goodread. I'm still very young, but I have grown up around Stephen King my whole life. The first adult fiction I ever read was King's 'Desperation', and it has been my favorite ever since.

Jack Davis (jackwilldavis) Hi all,

Only been on Goodreads for a few months but already addicted! Been a huge fan of Stephen King since I was younger, recently read 11/22/63 which proves he's still got it!

I think Doctor Sleep is on the reading list this Christmas!

message 333: by Stacie (new)

Stacie C (thenextbook) Hey Jack, I've been a huge Stephen King fan years now and 11/22/63 was great. If you liked This Shining then you should definitely read Doctor Sleep. It was an amazing follow up!

Stacie

message 334: by Jesse (new)

Jesse Stahl | 47 comments I already introduced myself, but I will again. I'm Jesse. I am 20, I have been a constant reader since 6th grade when I read Carrie. I own physical hardbacks and ebook versions of all King's books. I also enjoy Anne Rice a lot. I joined this site because I met Angie at the Stephen King event in Boulder for Doctor Sleep. My favorote book would be a tie between Dolores Claibourne and The Shining.

message 335: by Justin (new)

Justin (rockstarintraining) | 1 comments I just joined the group and quickly tried to form a Dark Tower buddy read for next year without stopping to say hello.

I'm Justin. Married. Three young, crazy kids so I squeeze in reading time late at night. I like a lot of King's early stuff, but I have been less enthusiastic about some of his newer books

Love The Shining, The Stand, and Pet Semetary I started The Dark Tower series a while ago and plan to start over soon.

I've been on Goodreads for while, but just discovered groups. I was excited to see this one and look forward to reading along with everyone

message 339: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Dzierzak Hi all! I just joined GoodReads on the recommendation of a friend, and was introduced to Stephen King's novels by my dad. I think my first of his that I read was The Gunslinger. Still have yet to finish the Dark Tower Series, but I've read others and have thoroughly enjoyed them.

I'm currently a veterinary student, so I rarely have time for leisurely reading, but I'm in the middle of 'Salem's Lot at the present and look forward to finishing it over our winter break!

message 340: by Luisa (new)

Luisa Calbucci Renaux (lucalbucci) | 1 comments Hi there, :)
I'm Luisa and I just joined GoodReads today. I'm currently re-reading "Pet Sematary" after having read "Doctor Sleep" and I thought it was only natural to join a "Stephen King Fans" group. I think King's first book I ever read was "The Shining", after watching Kubrick's adaptation on TV. Anyway, I'm 23 years old and I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I also have the goal of reading all of his works. I think I am probably only halfway there haha. I do enjoy different authors and genres (I love The Game of Thrones series). Some of my other favorite SK Books are The Eyes of the Dragon, Under the Dome, 11/22/63, Salem's Lot, and The Stand.

Brian B. (brianb73) | 1 comments Hi Constant Readers, I'm Brian from CT. Just joined the site tonight and I'm checking things out.
I started with Pet Semetary when I was a kid and have read pretty much everything since - and own most of the hardcovers. My favorite series is The Dark Tower and I'll go back an re-read the series occasionally. I just re-read The Shining so I could then read Dr Sleep.

Ashley Rodriguez (shadowspheonix) | 1 comments Greetings! I'm new to the group. My name is AC Willis and I am an indie author. I have been reading Stephen King since I was 8 years old and I owe most of my passion and knowledge about writing to him.
