R6: Team #1 ~ First and the Furious

I've finished my vampire book and I (hopefully) will post the review tomorrow.
There's another change. Sorry about that. I read a few page of the JD Robb book and realized I wasn't in the mood for it. So my series catch up book is now The Red Heart of Jade: A Dirk & Steele Novel
My demon pick is Summoning the Night

I made a list of about 10 books to go through because of course, no demon books were on my reading next list. I'll choose something tomorrow.

Book: Dance with the Devil by Megan Derr
Shelf: Demons
Rating: ★★★★
Date Read: 21-10-12
Review:
I dunno what makes this book special for me. It was a book that I didn't want to stop reading. It was funny and I loved the m/m relationship. I liked how instead of chapters, the book was designed as case files which could be from the past or present. The recurring supporting characters were interesting too and there were separate stories based on them.

I really liked the first book, so I'm looking forward to reading it.
I'm about half-way through The Red Heart of Jade -- I'm pretty sure I will complete it today. Of course, that will also depend on how much time I spend on writing something for the vampire book.

Book: One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Shelf: Series Catch Up
Rating: ★★★
Date Read: 22-10-12
Review:
I really liked this one. More action, more romance, more humor-all of it. What I didn't like was Cat thinking she was too smart and could pull one over Ian. I mean why do women have to act stupid and ruin all their hard work? And this from female writers too! I just don't get it. Isn't it men who are supposed to not like asking directions? You have a master vampire like Bones who is going against his sire, standing right next to you and you imagine that you know more about vampire ethics/traditions more than he would? Genius move!

G19 : Vampire - Phantom Shadows by Dianne Duvall - ★★★★★ - 20 Oct 12
***** SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST BOOK *****
The third book in this series features Sebastien Newcombe, the Immortal Guardian who spent the last two hundred years believing he was a vampire. He raised an army to go against Roland Warbrook, another Immortal Guardian, and was defeated.
Though he was defeated, Seth and David, the two oldest Immortal Guardians, decided to spare him and give him a chance to prove himself. There are too few Guardians left, plus Seth has seen Bastien's thoughts and knew the circumstances that led to the younger immortal thinking he was a vampire and why Bastien killed an Immortal Guardian.
Regardless of the support of the two respected leaders, the other Immortal Guardians in North Carolina don't like him. Bastien is certain none of the other immortals would mourn his loss and several wouldn't mind being the one to hasten his end. Bastien doesn't care what they think, nor is he inclined to explain his past to the others. Even after two years among the Immortal Guardians, he doesn't consider himself one of them.
There are only three things that Sebastien cares about among the Guardians and their network: the vampires who supported him and voluntarily agreed to be studied in the hopes that the network's doctors can find a cure to the madness the vampire virus causes in human after they are turned; Ami, the mysterious young woman Seth and David rescued, who he befriended during his stay at Seth's castle; and Dr. Melanie Lipton, a member of the network's medical staff and the one who works directly with the vampires in their care, the one who's desire to find a cure matches his own.
Dr. Lipton is one of the very few people who sees the good in Bastien, who believes in him. His ability to see and treat vampires as people, to care about their welfare sets him apart from the others. This is a more telling hint of the person he truly is than the attitude he presents to the rest of the world. Despite his faults and the mess his life has been, Melanie can't help falling in love with him.
I really enjoyed this book. I did love Bastien, though he was stubborn and didn't make things easy. There is gradual acceptance of him among the Immortal Guardians, aided by Melanie's determination to defend him and support him.
I'm looking forward to see where a couple story lines go: Zach, what's going on with Ami, whether or not Melanie is any closer to finding a cure, and what the next threat will be.

Yaaay,go Christina! hehe"
Thanks!

Review: Duncan Edge is asked by his long time mentor to take care of Serena Brighman safe. But Serena is apposed to all his plans and forces Duncan to kidnap her for her own protection. Add to that a killer who is killing off wizards from Duncan's wizard council and you got trouble. Duncan goes on a search to find out who is killing his friends, and then starts getting suspicious about his long time friend Trey. Along the way Serena tries and tries to get away from him so she doesn't grow to care for him as more than just a body guard. And Duncan is trying to avoid her as much as possible because of a curse that was put on his family. It says that whenever an Edge starts caring for someone, that someone dies there soon after. But as much as they try to get out of loving each other they know that it isn't possible because they love each other to much. What will Duncan do about the curse? Will the killer's identity ever be revealed?
