Dusty I'm going to read Innok's Curse by R.G. Porter

message 105: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) He is definately not a big reader. I have recently got him hooked on audiobooks for his comute to work, but he doesn't branch out of his genre much.

Oh, Kathy Dark Gold is one of my favorites in that series.

JenniferJ | 0 comments Green week: finished 9/8/12
Rating 3 out of 5 ♥'s
Read: Scored by Lauren McLaughlin

Found:....Green At the top of one of the dunes was a green-clad ranger. (page 138)

also can claim
Found:....Celebrity (pg 111) we're living in "George" Orwell's nightmare
Found:....Shoreline (pg 138) The ocean sped by them on the right,
Found:....Bag (pg.187) grabbed her coat and backpack, and left.

Review:

I had a tough time with Scored. The subject matter was not so unbelievable and was actually pretty eerily where it looks like our future could be headed. Do I like it or believe it to be fair? No not at all but it's just the way things are and will be. I mean we're already "scored" in so many aspets of our lives.

But the actual problem I had with the book itself was I didn't like any of the characters and it just got a bit irritating having Imani and Diego debate who was right and wrong all the time. It just was to...political reading? I couldn't think of a better word for what I mean but it just became quite boring. Too much bickering and not enough action so to speak.

Imani was just one of the uppitiest (is that even a word?) people I have ever read and I could not stand her. She ditched a friend for falling in love and supposedly causing her score to drop, she was rude to her parents almost like she was above them (when I say rude I don't mean the usual teenager antics I mean like she came across all holier than though in my opinion), and she was so quick to conspire (backstab) against a classmate just to get a scholarship when she realized there was no way to raise her score. I'm like okay I get it. I can see why she did these things but was it really worth it? I can only speak for myself but I value my friends, family, and self respect more than having a high score or having to backstab to get what I want. She did somewhat redeem herself in the end but far to late to gain any respect in my eyes.

Joshua cries for help and his cries are heard by Aiden

“I am Carpathian. I am not yet vampire."
Im pleased I didnt read this series back to back as the writing, and story in the first two was very similar, but this one was quiet different, looking forward to the next one.

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) I should be done with mine tonight. I found a bunch of the harder items in it too :)

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Dawn! I only just saw your comment about Dark Gold! I enjoyed it, the first two were like reading the same book again! So this was a nice change. Its been a while since I read the other two, so this has whet my appetite again for the Carpathians!

Review

I absolutely loved this book about a wife and mum who took a month out from her ordinary life with all its responsibilities to experience new things, find the read Janie and be irresponsible for a while. Does the new life draw her away from her responsibilities for good or does she go back home? Does her life change for the better? Sorry but I will not tell, you will have to read it yourself to find out.
This was a break from the paranormal books I seem to have been reading a lot of lately and I really identified with Janie. The humour is good and did actually make me smile and laugh, something most books described as 'comedy' don't manage with me.
It is much more a character driven novel than a plot driven one and this works well because all the character's are so different from each other but all are easy to identify with.

I recommend this book for anybody who is ready for a light read.

A definite 5/5 stars.

I really like her books, but that is a big problem. They are very repetitive. Each has a slight twist but very similar plot... and the same words in the sex scenes over and over.

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Green Week:
I read Until I Die (Revenants, #2) by Amy Plum
finished 9/9/12
♥♥♥♥
Color, Green: Location #2279 Heading towards the one with the green facade
People, Celebrity: Location # 300 he would have looked exactly like Kurt Cobain
Places, famous landmarks: Location 2853 to take him to the Louvre even though it was a weekend
Things, glitter: Location #3743 her eyes losing their sparkle

This one is hard to review without spoilers so it'll be more my thoughts on it. In this on Kate & Vincent are trying to figure out how they're going to make their relationship work despite Vincent being a revenant. The Numa are silent and all of the Paris Revenants are wondering what they're up to. The ending is an Oh No she didn't go there cliffhanger. Kate fights some Numa in this one and actually held her on. It was cool to see her open up some whoop a$$. The plot wasn't as clear in this one and there was no solution to Kate & Vincent's problems but the last half of this book more than made up for it. Ms. Plum has created a unique revenat world. We also meet two new characters Violette & Arthur revenants from Southern France.

message 130: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) Samson's Lovely Mortal (Scanguards Vampires, #1) by Tina Folsom would this cover work for landmark

message 131: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) I think we should be saving the hard ones for when they are called so we only have to find them once, you did landmark last week but you now have to find another.

message 132: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Probably I've read that and it does take place in San Fransico so it is the Golden Gate Bridge. If you want double check it with Dawn but I'm pretty positive it'll work. That's a super good book BTW!

message 133: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) This was one of my kindle freebies, I am glad it is a good book, I have found items for each of the other sections in it as well so should get the full four items again, 3 weeks in a row.

message 134: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Yes, the Golden Gate Bridge would be a famous landmark.

Just a thought on your stategy Adele, but feel free to play however you want. I personally would save easy ones until last. When you get down to that last week when you need to find 4 specific items in one book, you want them to be easy, not hard, or you may only end up with 2 or 3 in a book not all 4.

message 135: by Adele (new)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) okay, I see what you mean, that's your experience paying off, thanks.

I will definitely read Samson's lovely mortal at some point but thanks to Kathy who has given me a lot of help this evening, I am going to change my choice to The Memory Keeper's Daughter as I need to read this anyway for my book club and a few other challenges. This has Fort Pitt tunnel in it as the famous landmark.

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) Finaly got here!! I will read When Pigs Fly by Bob Sanchez .

JenniferJ | 0 comments Famous Landmark Week: (finished 9/16/12)
Rating: 3 out of 5 ♥'s
Read:
A Kiss In Time by Alex Flinn
A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn

Found:....Famous Landmark (pg 45) It's a castle. Not a modern-looking one like Buckingham Palace,

also can claim
Found:....Red (Cover)
Found:....Warrior (pg 64) "Have you defiled the princess?" one guard demands, getting close with his sword.
Found:....Stairs (pg.182) she has to sleep in the study down stairs, on the air mattress.

Review: Alex Flinn does an amazing job here with the retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Another book I have read of late that was hard to put down. The characters were young and impressionable and alot of fun. It was humorous reading of Talia's adventures when she forced Jack to bring her to America with him and discovering all the things that had been created while her kingdom slept...the funniest being the cell phone.

Jack was a pretty shallow person for me in the beginning but once he and Talia were back home at his parents house I could feel his attraction growing especially in times when he would have to swoop in and save her from the dangerous things she didn't understand in our time period like ummm Jello Shots!

If you love story tales I suggest giving A Kiss In Time a try for sure!
