Loved this story of a man who thinks he's all that, an likes to drink, find out he's half fairy and a legendary warrior to his tribe. Witch he winds up saving an falls in love with the queen. Did not want to put down, but had to at times.

My Review:

So many funny moments in this one despite the dire circumstances. There's a new group of strange supes that register as human in town. They're part of a gladiator style fight to the death tournament. They've almost killed Derek and no one can beat them at the games. Kate and company decide they need to put a stop to them before they overthrow the pack. This book also sheds some light on Kate's mysterious blood and lineage. Also I'm starting to love Andrea more in each book.

After the first book Barrons starts to mould Mac into what she needs to be. Gone is the cute pink loving girl. Once all of this starts happening you really begin to appreciate the dynamics of Mac & Barrons relationship.

Mac was better , but there still wasn't much of a relationship other than him using her and her being too naive to do anything but go along with it. I think my biggest let down was that I thought it was PNR, there are naked bodies on the cover for goodnes sakes. But there was no romance or even sexual tension. I think maybe a kiss or two but no romance. :( (hide spoiler)]

NON-HUMAN - pg 2- Gem didn't mind Kiuyians in general, but they could get up to serious trouble with there shape changing abilities.
METROPOLITAN AREA -pg 64- The town whizzed by, sleek glass-and-steel blocks cupped by some domes and spires.
WING -pg 217- he can't leave this rock by wing unless he wants to be shot out of the air.
RED -pg 5- You have the red hair.

I really liked this book an the way it was wrote. I want to read some more of her books. Gem owns a bar/inn who hires a drifter to help out, but finds out her inn is under investigation for drugs. An the drifter is actualy a undercover Narc who she is falling for but hates him because he lied to her. They make up and get married right at the end.

Each book keeps ratching it up a notch. By the third book Mac is totally different her and Barrons have fallen into a routine with one another. And while it seems he's manipulating her he's really turning her into a survivor. If he didn't do some of the things he did to her she would of ended up like her sister.

In all honesty, only because the TCF scavenger hunt had a maybach and donald trump refrence, both of which were in book two.

I did read Beyond the Highland Mist by her this month and really enjoyed it.
