I honestly would never have found Twilight if it hadn't been for the Neverending Quiz on goodreads. I had to read it to answer the questions. I had forgotten The Fur Person, read it long ago and it was so good.

Amanda umm i'm not sure how you would not find Twilight... but then again i did vote for Percy Jackson... it's not that i wouldn't have found it, i just wouldn't have thought to actually read it, and i LOVED it.

I am much more isolated than the average person due to having Multiple Chemical Sensitivity also called Environmental Illness. Twilight is not in the second hand book stores yet. I would probably have found it in a few more years except for the Quiz which is so fun.

Thanks Jessica! I actually was going to swap with a friend here thru our library which is very small but then I was off line for months. Right now I actually have a big stack of books to read. Hubby picks some up at work for me thru the paperback swap there. Sometimes I have to put them in the window to outgas for a few weeks especially if someone wearing perfume or someone who smoked read them. I have a library book in the window right now too! Maybe next week I can read it.
Thanks again, Alice who is a Canary "in the coal mine"

Yes, our libraries use these very toxic sprays which most people like but they give me asthma and if I don't get up and leave promptly I can get migraine too.

Clarice Hi guys! I originally started the book list yesterday and I am so happy that quite a few people have voted!!! (I started other lists and they are only slowly gaining voters - So, I am over the moon that we have over ten people already. Seems this list has somehow hit the spot. :-)

It is intended to be a bit of a stocktake (for me anyway). Look at your bookshelf and take stock of all the books you might not have discovered had it not been for the existence of this fabulous community, its reading groups, members' reviews, discussions and the book quiz (to name but a few).

Alice, thank you for voting and providing an insight into how challenging day - to - day activities can be with your condition. (I had no idea before reading your comments.) I know electronic books aren't everybody's cup of tea (certainly not mine and the kindle as yet is a luxury I cannot justify), but have you tried any of the free e-book services - Project Gutenberg / Daily Lit etc...

Hi Christine and thanks for starting this listopia. I have very blurry vision and it gets worse if I look at the computer screen for too long. I much prefer regular books and I underline, etc as I actually study many of them. I did manage to read Edward Cullen's viewpoint online due to my obsession with Twilight. It was hard and took many nights of going back and forth. My copies of Twilight are marked up except for Breaking Dawn due to working on the quiz all the time.

Kindle will never go over with me. My hubby and I love second hand book stores and know where they all are!

message 8: by Clarice (new)

Clarice I know what you mean about the good old hardcopy and there is nothing nicer than going into a second hand bookshop! ;-)

message 9: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl Certainly I wouldn't have been aware of the existence of the entire genres of paranormal romance, gay male Harlequins, and steampunk, without Goodreads. But as I do not read these genres, I don't feel I should add them to the list. I'll try to think of a few books I've read, or intend to read, due to GR.

message 10: by Daria (new)

Daria GoodReads is awesome!

message 11: by Jade (new)

Jade There are so many books I would not have considered to even give a try without Goodreads. Before I joined I was using Amazon and trying to guess what would be good to read and if I would like it. With Goodreads I do not have that problem. The Listopias are excellent to start with, and then when you start getting friends with similar taste and following reviews, etc. I have enjoyed reading more in the last few months than ever. In short, I love Goodreads :)

message 12: by Breanne (new)

Breanne Tiger saga all the way :)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Do you have a macro, Breanne?

message 14: by Breanne (new)

Breanne No....why?

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Because I see you say "Tiger saga all the way" a lot; I was just wondering.

message 16: by Amanda (new)

Amanda I would accredit 85% of my read and to read list thanks to GoodReads :-) I love this site, if it ever closes...I dont know what I would do!

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you for the Wolf Chronicles goodreads! :D

message 18: by J.W. (new)

J.W. Ellis Awesome List

message 19: by Sally (new)

Sally Funny that Daniel S. Fletcher only discovered his own book through GoodReads. It annoys me that authors use this website to shamelessly promote their own books.

message 20: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl Sally wrote: "Funny that Daniel S. Fletcher only discovered his own book through GoodReads. It annoys me that authors use this website to shamelessly promote their own books."

Good catch. Since that is a clear case of not telling the truth, the book doesn't fit the list parameters. I deleted that book, plus about 10 others where the author consisted of the only vote for his or her book. I only went through 2 pages though.

ღ Carol jinx~☆~☔ʚϊɞ That would be a big list! LOL

message 22: by Mary (new)

ClaraBelle For the most part, I love this list! Thanks for recommending it to me, @Autumn Reads Books.
