July 2024 Word of the Month: Celebrating 200 Years of RSPCA / DISASTER (Management Plan)
July 2024 Word of the Month: Celebrating 200 Years of RSPCA / DISASTER (Management Plan)Since 1824, the RSPCA has worked to prevent cruelty, promote kindness towards, and reduce the suffering of animals. Their vision is of a caring world in which all animals are respected and treated with compassion.
Let your pet become familiar with its carrier.
Let your pet become familiar with its carrier.
Planning ahead is critical and greatly increases the likelihood of evacuating your pets to safety during an emergency.
Unfortunately, pet owners often have no choice but to leave their pets behind during such a situation because they have not considered them in their evacuation plans.
Prepare for hazards such as heatwaves, fireworks & storms, house & bushfires, floods & droughts.
The RSPCA provides assistance in planning as well as with the aftermath of such emergencies.
Don't leave your pet locked up in the car during the summer heat.

RSPCA Tips on How to Prepare for an Emergency:
-Ensure your pets are microchipped and registered with your local council.
-Ensure your pets wear collars and tags at all times.
-Tags should include the animal’s name, owner’s name and up-to-date phone numbers.
-Have carry boxes, leads and halters readily accessible.
-Familiarise your pets with these boxes and leads in advance.
-Include a secondary contact number on your pet’s ID tag or microchip record.
-Prepare an emergency pet supply kit.
-Have arrangements in place for transporting your animals in emergencies.
What is in a pet emergency kit?
