An entertaining tale and an enjoyable read. This is my second Boyne novel and while they are well executed, engaging stories, there's just something missing for me. It hits all the right notes, but I'm not exactly moved by it.

"The book cover and title (and some rave reviews) were what appealled to me. It started so well... on a very dramatic note for the main character (Parisian librarian who lost husband and young daughter in a car crash...). The story line was promising " Read more of this review »

“Sometimes if you just let things happen, rather than trying to force them, they come easier.”
Evie Gaughan, The Mysterious Bakery On Rue De Paris

“He was like a different person, without that cloak of grief that he wore. Was he trying to keep the painful memories in or keep happiness out?”
Evie Gaughan, The Story Collector

“In my chest, a strange voice awakens and a song plays inside me a longing that is not mine. They say that ancestors, dead before their time, with young blood still in their veins, with great passion in their blood, with the sun still burning in their blood come, come to continue to live within us their unfinished lives. O, who knows, soul of mine, in which chest you will sing… ‘Silence’ by Lucian Blaga”
