88432 Beartown was such a good book - 5 star for me too.

I just finished Eighth Grave After Dark - I continue to enjoy this series.

LOL - thanks for fixing that - I probably should make a rule for myself not to touch the spreadsheet when I've been up all night....

88432 I can read The Inheritance Games for Green 1.

88432 No worries Trio. I'll double check it the next time I go through and verify books.

I'm working on Seventh Grave and No Body currently, then will be able to do the next two books in the series which are color cards. Hopefully I'll get all three done this week, but it is a work week, so it will depend on how busy it is....

88432 What besides the new month of reading excites you about March, Andy? Maybe the weather getting a bit warmer/the days getting longer?

Does anyone have a book they're especially looking forward to this month? For me it is The Frozen River - I hope it lives up to the hype I have been seeing.

88432 Last day! I know there are a couple of books still being read, but I wanted to get this out early so that everyone has time to help me get things in order before our end of the month deadline.

@Trio - can you put Necromancer's Dance on your UNO shelf?

@Ashley - your last book needs a read date and to be moved to your UNO shelf.

@Harley - I just need a read date for your last book.

Thank you everyone!

88432 I've finished my last book for February. I enjoyed What the River Knows and plan to read the sequel, but I didn't like it quite as much as I hoped to....maybe I've read a bit too much YA/NA this month...

Everything seems to be coming together for us to finish this month! I'll be double checking to make sure everyone has all their books on their UNO shelves with start and finish dates. Trio, when you have a moment, can you put The Necromancer's Dance on your UNO shelf?

I do think that cozy mysteries often involve food. With cozy in the description, you'd think everyone would love them. But I've found I can only do one or two at a time before I've had too much. I did like Legends and Lattes, but not as much as the rest of the world seemed to...

88432 Perfect - thank you Cris!

88432 If no one else is able to Trio, I'll figure out a book for that hand. Car trouble is no fun - I hope it all gets worked out tomorrow.

88432 I've finished Razorblade Tears. I liked it quite a bit - although it is quite violent in several places.

I will definitely finish What the River Knows this month and am looking for 1-2 more easier books that I might squeeze in yet this month since it looks like things are going to be close....

88432 Everything looks good to me Trio! Thank you again.

88432 I finished my last color cover book - The Bodyguard. An adult rom com this time - I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was my first by this author. I will read more by her.

Trio - when you have a chance - there are two books on your UNO list that have start dates, but not finish dates. The spreadsheet has your finish date, so I know they work for the challenge, but I believe we need it to also appear on the UNO list. The books are The Divorcees and Skater Boy. Thank you!

88432 I just finished My Murder. It was good and different. I did a hybrid listen/read and think the narrator was a good choice for this book.

I start work again tonight -it will probably be busy again, but I plan to finish the three books I have on the spreadsheet before the end of the month. Plus I have Elantris due back at the library soon, but I might not finish that one until March...

88432 I don't really know the answer to that question as I wasn't here at the start of UNO, but I know the rules have evolved a little every year or so.

So I looked back at the archived UNO 2015 game (the first year I think it was played) and back then both 4 and 5 cards used the letter F. And both the 6 and 7 cards used the letter S. The next year the rules changed so that the 5 card was the letter I and the 7 card was the letter V.

In both years the 8 card was the letter E. So my guess is that is was already taken when they changed the rules so that each card had a unique letter.

88432 I've finished both Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet and Fifth Grave Past the Light. The series is kind of getting exciting and the books are fast reads, so I might continue on with another one or two in the series this month (AFN = Darynda, so it works for that category in the mini).

But my very next read will be Where the Forest Meets the Stars.

88432 Hi Andy, I think it does work for Skip "K". There is a specific rule to address this - I can't find it to confirm right now, but what I remember from past years is that whatever name the library would file it under for last name is what is considered the last name for the purposes of UNO. When I look it up at my library, it is filed under Kowal.

I see from you've put on the spreadsheet that it can work in multiple categories (including V/7!), so I'm sure we'll fit it in somewhere even if I'm wrong about it working for the Skip card.
Feb 14, 2024 07:12PM

88432 You're right Trio - you can use any book you complete from the start of the mini (earlier today) until the end of February/start of March on both the regular spreadsheet and the mini spreadsheet.

If you can't make it fit both, it can be used for either.

But as we're a little behind on reading books, hopefully we can make everything count once on both (maybe with a little rearranging).

88432 I've finished Ruthless Vows and loved it. I definitely recommend it and Divine Rivals (first book in duology) if you like fantasy. It is YA - main characters are 18 years old I believe - but it doesn't feel overly YA.

Next I'm squeezing in Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet because it has a directional word in the title. I got it on audio, so it should go fast. I had started this series many years ago and this book was as far as I had gotten; I restarted the series recently so I could remember what's going on and hopefully finish it (there are 13 books total). I do like the series, but I'm a little surprised as the main character is always cracking jokes (the kind that make you groan) and that type of humor doesn't always appeal to me. But it does seem to be well liked overall with Goodreads ratings consistently at least four stars, so I'm not alone.

I'm jealous of you Andy - I wish I could read the third Mistborn again for the first time!
