checking in -
I had a busy weekend that unfortunately did not include any reading...so I'm still working on my second book for the month
All the Lonely People. Then I think I will read
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun. I should be able to read more this week than last...

Amusingly, Ashley, I picked that same book up from the library this week! I hadn't volunteered yet, though, as I think I need to read my other two colored cards first before committing. If no one else claims the card, we could decide in a week or two which of us reads it. I'd be very happy to save it for next month, though, and hope we get dealt a red card that fits it then.

My first two books will be
Age of Vice and
All the Lonely People as both are due back at the library this week. Age of Vice is not grabbing me as much as I hoped, so it may be a bit of a slow going. I haven't started All the Lonely People yet. After that, I'll likely focus on at least one of my color card books.

P.S. I just went to the tin eye website you recommended at the beginning - Finlay Donovan jumps the gun came back at 59.7% green, so I'm putting it on the spreadsheet. If you guys disagree and have any reservations about it, I'll take it off.

I have two books already checked out from the library that may work. The first I'm more sure of and we could use for a WD4 card as it is a repeat of Blue 8 (character Emma)
.
The second might work for Green 8, if the cover is green enough.
.
I'm putting Unlikely Animals on the spreadsheet, as I believe that one should be blue enough, but am waiting on Finlay Donovan as that one seems a bit more questionable to me.

I've finished
Heart of the Sun Warrior and
Stay with Me since I checked in last (I enjoyed both). I'm currently reading
Olive, Again and
The Many Daughters of Afong Moy - both are on the spreadsheet for the mini challenge.
I have
Once There Were Wolves waiting for me on the hold shelf at the library. It will work for two different open prompts on the mini challenge as it is on the mysterious list and on the animals list. I will claim one of those if they are still open when I'm ready to start reading this book.

The mini-challenge spreadsheet is filling in nicely!
I have finished
All the Devils Are Here and am almost done with
Heart of the Sun Warrior (I've added couple of other places it could go in the mini challenge on the spreadsheet. It also has dragons in it, although I'm not sure if I can say "featured" as they've only shown up half way through the book for a few chapters and I'm not sure how much of a role they'll play in the last third of the book...but it might work for that category too, depending on interpretation of their meaning).
I've added
The Many Daughters of Afong Moy to the spreadsheet as it includes the letters F*O*U*R in the title and
Bastille vs. the Evil Librarians for orange letters in the title.
I also have
The Golden Enclaves checked out from the library and it will work for black letters on the cover, but I haven't put it on the spreadsheet yet as I want to make a little more progress on my other books before committing to this one too. If someone wanted the F*O*U*R category of the orange letter category, I could easily give one of those up to read this book instead, though.

I spent some time looking at the list of new prompts last night and found things I want to read for many of the prompts, and I ended up checking out this one for the orange cover prompt. It's been on my TBR for a while and it's on the shorter side, so shouldn't take too long to finish. I put it on the new spreadsheet. Once I finish the four I'm working on, I'll see what else I can squeeze in before the end of the month.

Ooooh, this looks like fun! Although, also a bit hard too. I've got a few books started:
Heart of the Sun Warrior - bird on cover
All the Devils Are Here - teal letters on cover? I think the title is in teal - do you all agree?
Olive, Again - white letters on cover? there's also yellow letters, but I don't thin it needs to be every letter.
I've only just started all three of these books, so maybe there will be a harder category each will fit in - as I read more, I'll update it to a harder open category if there is one. I'll also take a look at all the books I have checked out from the library and see if any of them fit any of the categories.

I finished
Olive Kitteridge! This was my first book by Elizabeth Strout and I'm looking forward to reading more by her. I recommend it.

I'm just checking in. I'm working on
Olive Kitteridge (half way done) and
A Quiet Life (one third done). i am enjoying both. This week should be a better reading week for me as compared to this last week, so I expect to finish both of those and start
Age of Vice and
Heart of the Sun Warrior. I hope everyone else's weeks are starting well too.

@Lisa: I started The Book of the Unnamed Midwife and I am really enjoying it so far! I'm only a few chapters in,..."I've requested it from the library.
I finished my first book for uno today.
We All Want Impossible Things. I thought it was only mediocre; the goodreads reviews suggest most people like it more than I did. I'm still deciding what I might read next...maybe
Olive Kitteridge.

I've been waiting for the challenge to read it because for some dumb reason I'm worried I run out of books to read during the challen..."If you can listen to the audio of that one, it is excellent! Full cast recording. :)

That looks like a good list...I'm particularly curious to hear if you like
The Book of the Unnamed Midwife. Also, I've read
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, so that one can be a reverse too if we need it. I liked it! Although it was
Daisy Jones & The Six that prompted me to read most of
Taylor Jenkins Reid's backlist.

Less than a day before we start! Have you all decided what you'll read first? I have several books checked out from the library that I won't be able to renew, so those books will likely dictate my initial reading. The two I'm going to start with are the shortest of the bunch:
A Quiet Life and
We All Want Impossible Things. I put what I know about them into the spreadsheet - when I finish them I'll fill in the date read. I also have
Age of Vice which it looks like Ashley is planning to read too!

I went to the library to pick up my hold for Olive Kitteridge today and was pleasantly surprised to find it has a yellow cover! The cover I'm more familiar with has a green leaf on it, so this was unexpected. It is the first book in a series, so I should be able to use it for one of the Wild Draw 4 cards (repeat of Yellow 1) if we need it.
This is the edition I checked out:

P.S. I can do Yellow 3 card for February. I have
Heart of the Sun Warrior waiting for me at the library. It should work as cover is yellow and title starts with the letter H.

Hello,
I'm Lisa. This is my second year playing UNO. I think my favorite part of the game is finding books to read for the cards. So I'm excited that February's hand has been released.
My favorite genre is probably fantasy, but I also like contemporary and historical fiction. I also read a fair amount of YA.
I'm looking forward to starting next month!

I finished
Kitchens of the Great Midwest this morning. I'll be starting
Maybe in Another Life tonight. That will likely be my last book for UNO this quarter. My parents are visiting the last four days of April, so I'll have less time for reading those days. I may be able to sneak another book in, particularly if it's short and I'm not able to sleep well while they're here, but I'm guessing Maybe in Another Life will be my last one.
I've really enjoyed my first UNO experience! Thank you all for making it fun!! I look forward to joining again next year.
