Let me know if it's good. I read The Whistler (The Whistler, #1) by John Grisham and I loved it. Then I read The Reckoning by John Grisham and I hated it

The Whistler had a lot of mystery and suspense and was more like a thriller. The Reckoning was long, meandering and had virtually no likable characters IMO.

Ann Pachett has been hit or miss for me, I hope this one hits for you.

7638 I haven't gone to the library in awhile. When I lived in town it was way easier to stop by and go nuts, but it's not in my routine anymore. Better for real bookshelves...harder on my wallet!

7638 I'm trying to do the same thing - Tanya challenged me to look and see when I got my books and try read it in the corresponding month. I didn't get to last January's book in January, so I moved it to February. But it's a fun way to choose.

7638 Today I finished another BOTM, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides - it was a pretty easy read, but not fantastic. 3 stars.

One to my next one - this is a book I bought last year...Tanya challenged me to try read my real bookshelves by choosing a book each month from the books I bought last year in the same month. Totally genius, except I lost close to half of January reading time after falling and hitting my head. SO, I will have to read January's this month too, so for that I am reading The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer , which I bought in January 2019.

7638 I read Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston in 2 days. I picked it up partly for the 12 Bee Books challenge, and also because it's Valentine's Week and I was in the mood for a romance. I knew from some reviews it could be cheesy, and when I started reading it, I was reading Alex in the voice of David on Schitt's Creek, and I think that really threw me into it in the best kind of way. (As I progressed I discovered Alexis was no-where to be found in this book!)

Between the fun romance and the delightful alternate history of the 2016 and 2020 elections, I really enjoyed it and gave it 5 Stars.

7638 So, I read this in about a day - and I was totally in the mood for it, and I think it is interesting to read in the context of Meghan and Harry "quitting" the royal family.

I understand the over the top feelings, but I think it helped that I went into it ready for cheese.

7638 And that’s totally allowed!!! You made me actually giggle.

7638 It's going to be a series...which I think gives it more of a chance to be something good and also very different. The way it is told gives it so much room for details, which will be easier to establish with more hours to devote to each of the stories.

7638 I'm dusting off this old thread...

I recently completed The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas , which was a Bee book a few years ago...

I hadn't read it before, and it really does take some time to get into, but then once I got to the last 300 pages I couldn't put it down. If you've seen the movie and not read the book - you have no idea. It was fantastic.

7638 Today was one of the first time in AGES I read a book in one sitting...

The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James was a BOTM choice for me, and It was SO good. My husband is going to download it on Audible, as he kept checking on me and laughing at the various expressions on my face as I got through this haunted mystery. I loved it.

I didn't love Wham!, but I did love George Michael as a solo artist, and when he sang with Queen. His album "Listen Without Prejudice" was on my CD player for months on end.

I have this on my list this year, and now it's even a Bee Book. :)

7638 It's true. Tanya has restrained herself in a big way here.

7638 I'm glad I knew for a fact it wasn't a band...but with the new series being adapted, we will get to hear versions of these songs soon.

Dang - I would totally get this for my Mom if she was still here.

7638 I'm nominating a book by one of my favorite (and a very prolific) authors - John Sandford. I chose the first book in his Virgil Flowers series. I thought about the first book in his Prey series, which was first published in 1989, but decided that the more recent series may be a little easier to lay hands on.

One of my favorite things about Sandford and his series is that his characters age, mature and change. Relationships, children, jobs...there is an evolution of characters that doesn't happen in other series I enjoy, such as Stuart Wood's Stone Barrington or Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum.

7638 I think I may have Bellweather Rhapsody...must look. If not, must add.
