Petra - Have you read:

Bag of BonesDuma Key Under the DomeLisey's Story11/22/63? Those are all some great ones. There have been some NOT so great ones thrown in though. I read everything he writes, I'm a classic example of Constant Reader. :)

7638 One month later and things are going well. It's still got some things we need to get better organized, but now most of the mess looks like the normal mess of people who live in a house without servants to pick up behind them!

I'm going to do my best here and see if this link works. I made an album on Walmart of the house for anyone who would like to see pictures.

I'm home early today with a sick Gabe - we're supposed to fly to Arizona for a family wedding on Thursday, so hopefully he heals up FAST. And doesn't share his germs...

7638 AMEN!!!! I remember when my son was in first grade and his teacher was bringing up the ADHD thing, I was PISSED and asked a different teacher friend what a 6 year old boy was supposed to look like since I lost the manual that was supposed to come with mine.

I ended up getting both of mine to counsellors this year. Gabe's ADHD needed addressing as his teacher was not willing to make any accomodations without the formal diagnosis and medical plan. Whee. Then my daughter's anxiety related to the move was just epic and inconsolable. It's nice to get a different perspective from someone who is neutral and truly NOT judging.

Stress that comes from in-laws butting in is something I'm way too familiar with. I wish I had words of wisdom for that. I drank a glass (or two) of wine and tried to breathe. Fingers crossed the SIL gets a "real" child and the 3's hit her full force this time around. And her little introvert will likely have a horrid time in junior high and high school where your social girl will have the world by the tail. So there.

7638 I finished Dreamers of the Day and did give it a 5 star rating, though I didn't enjoy it as much as The Sparrow and Children of God. Still a very well-written book that tries to take on the roots of the present conflicts in the middle east by looking at a trip that Lawrence of Arabia took with Winston Churchill and other big thinkers of the day shortly after WWI. Very interesting concepts.

I've recently picked up The Stand which has ranked on my list of best books of all time, but I don't think I've read it in at least 12 years, so I decided to re-read and see if I still love it. So far YEP. King at his best!

7638 Ugh. I did that. :(. My kiddos are two years apart, and my friend's mom said that its the odd years that are awful, the even ones are great. And 4 is still my favorite age ( mine are 7 and almost 10 now ). So, you're almost to four!!!!! :)

7638 I started Dreamers of the Day by Mary Doria Russell yesterday and I'm over half through. I have a HUGE author crush on Mary Doria Russell. I love her work. After this one I think the last book I have by her is A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell .

7638 I loved the Star Wars movies, and tried with the books but just didn't get into them. Gabe reads them, and then wants to explain the relationships between characters in minutia. :P

I just finished You Are the Love of My Life by Susan Richards Shreve which I'd read an interesting review on, but then turned out to be fairly mediocre. I'm not sure what I'm up for next.
7638 It's kind of like Forrest Gump's running...but I think a bit more realistic.
7638 I gave it 4 stars - I agree it's beautifully written. I've had experiences too where I've really wanted just to shut off my brain and NOT remember. It made me think about what a healthier way to deal with memories may be. I don't think I'm up for a 600+ mile walk though...

That is one of my favorite books of all time - AMAZING. I hope you'll love it too!

7638 I have been trying and failing to read by and large. I picked up The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott by Kelly O'Connor McNees and got about halfway through, then gave it up. I then picked up Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin which I really loved, but ended up putting down at not quite halfway through (though I do expect I'll pick it up again soonish) I then started and finished a couple other books - Tiny Beautiful Things Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar by Cheryl Strayed and Severe Clear by Stuart Woods . These were both able to hold my somewhat fractured attention span. :) LOVED TIny Beautiful Things - I want to be like Cheryl Strayed. Her voice, her compassion, her wisdom - are all HUGE beautiful things.
7638 I was lucky enough to snag this at the library - depending on what our weekend ends up being, I hope to get some good reading time in!

7638 Still getting there. The library is good enough to read in, but I still have boxes full of office stuff to figure out. We hung a bunch of art today, set up a computer desk, and had friends over for supper. I can't focus on books very well right now. Pretty unfocused. I have a TON of laundry. Trying to plug away. We have day 4 of a 4 day weekend tomorrow, and that's helped a ton.

7638 Closing went well and I am loving being home!!!! The house is as good or better than I imagined. The kids are doing their school bus routine and Kasias crying spells are getting less. She still wants to be near me a lot but is doing well sleeping in her room downstairs when we are upstairs. We hardly see Gabe. He's so enjoying having his own things and own space again. My library and mikes hobby room haven't been set up yet, but we have a 4 day weekends and prediction for a blizzard to hopefully give us the time for that.

7638 I lied. I didn't post any...I'll try create an album I can share to you guys one day soon. Tonight is my LAST night at my in-laws. We close tomorrow at 4:00. The septic got finished yesterday AFTER I pulled some strings with a friend who owns a construction company. I really shamelessly accepted a HUGE favor. Which I know ended up costing him some money, but he offered and I accepted.

Kasia is FINALLY doing better. :) What a blessing to have my happy daughter back!!!!
