7638 It's a small town school and they don't have activities in her age group. :(

7638 @Amy. No worries, I'm in love with it!!! I don't want to do anything but sit and read. Leah reminds me of my daughter.

The Dark Tower series is an amazing work. I prefer some books over others, but it is just such an immense work that it deserves a top spot.

7638 I really did like 11/22/63 as well, but it didn't fall into my favorites. That being said, I'm pretty sure I gave it 5 stars.

My least favorites in recent years... Cell by Stephen King and Dreamcatcher by Stephen King .

7638 I so hear you Elizabeth. We had Kasia tested for Celiacs because there is some history of it in Mike's family, and I just had to make sure that there wasn't something physiological going on with her, but everything seems clear. She's been fighting infections and between that and her anxiety she's lost about 6 lbs - which was more than 10% of her body weight, so it is significant. She's a slender girl to begin with, and now her ribs are pretty apparent. Just doing my best to make sure she's all right. She's had a better attitude about school the past week or so, and is really looking forward to her overnight with Summer on Friday.

7638 There are a few Constant Readers among us and a few folks who've expressed interest in doing some buddy reads and discussions on The Stand by Stephen King . Here's a thread where we can geek out about Stephen King's amazing work!

For those who have never read anything by King but are interested, one of the best books for those who don't love the horror genre, try The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King , or Bag of Bones by Stephen King .

I've read nearly everything he's published, and don't love some of the earliest works like I love what he's put out in the past 15 years or so. My favorite King include:

1. The Stand by Stephen King
2. The Dark Tower Series Collection The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard and Glass, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, The Dark Tower by Stephen King
3. Bag of Bones by Stephen King
4. Duma Key by Stephen King
5. It by Stephen King
6. Under the Dome by Stephen King
7. The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King
8. Lisey's Story by Stephen King
9. The Green Mile by Stephen King
10. Insomnia by Stephen King

The order is close...but those are some of my favorites.

Loved that one - I adore SK. <3

7638 I'm starting Beach Music by Pat Conroy tonight. I received it in the holiday exchange and Amy also recommended it last year. I figured its a good blizzard weekend read.

7638 I finished In Cold Blood last night which I really enjoyed. (other than "this"). I'm going to have to get Breakfast at Tiffanys. I'm interested in what his actual fiction reads like.

Snow day today - I worked half and Mike is finishing the day so I got to start my weekend early. My fantasy of reading in my library during a winter storm is going to come true!

Have you read Dreamers of the Day? She features largely in that book.

7638 I'm reading In Cold Blood and whipping through it. I saw both Capote and Infamous, so it's not as though I don't know most of the storyline. BUT the English teacher in me is getting majorly irritated with "this"! Good lord if one of my students turned in a paper with all those quotation marks I'd have had a fit.

7638 If I drink too much wine while I read I SLEEP in my comfy chair!!!!

Kasia's appointment with her therapist on the 2nd was NOT her last after all. Kasia wants to continue, and expressed a lot of anxiety about school and just a really negative thought cycle, so we're going to keep it up through the school year for sure. We've invited her favorite friend from school to spend the night on the 18th, so fingers crossed that goes well.

I'm having a blast with my new Nook HD - I'm using some apps (a journal app and notepad app) to work through my Hive plotting. So much fun!
7638 I really loved this one. Charlie reminds me of Oskar in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer , which I also loved. I'm very interested in seeing this movie, as I love Emma Watson. Looking at the trailer, it looks quite different from how I pictured the book and various characters, but since the author is the one who adapted it and wrote the screenplay, I think it'll at least still have the same soul. Hope so anyway...

7638 I can't believe we're almost done with another year! What a crazy ride 2012 was! I really, really am hoping for a much calmer 2013. I'm sure next summer is going to be busy working on the yard. It's kind of a relief to get to move in right before snow because we can't worry about working on the landscaping for months.

Kasia has her last appointment with her therapist on the 2nd. She's doing really well, but she always gets anxious before school starts after a few days off, so the 2nd is her last day of Christmas break so I'm hoping Dana can help us through that bump.

I ordered a new book journal and some other stuff on Amazon last night, and am looking forward to the Hive Challenge this year. Fingers crossed I can do better this year. I didn't come close to meeting even my modified reading goal this year. I'm going to still try shoot for 100 in 2013.

7638 Happy New Year Bees! I love you all too!

I'm about 75% done with The Stand by Stephen King . This is a re-read for me, and I'm really loving it this time around, but am surprised at how young all the characters are. Funny how a decade changes my perspective on the age of these characters. I may be starting to feel old.

I also started Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver , and it feels a lot like When She Woke by Hillary Jordan so far.

7638 I wish the news would stop. I don't think there is a why. The guy was obviously mentally ill. Those poor kids, families, teachers, staff and first responders. Now they all have to try and move on with this life shattering event and their home has been taken over by media. Horrid.

7638 Thecoupon looked good but was of course too good to be true. But! My husband decided I needed it anywayy so I'm playing with it now. I need to find a better goodreads method tho. Right now I'm typing blond as the keyboard covers the comment box. That would be typing blind. But it won't let me in to fix it. So where are the best deals for mme to load this up?
