Adonica and I are going to see the man!!!! He's doing a 6 city book tour, so we are going to take a road trip to Wichita KS! Any of you going or want to meet up there on Nov 14?

I finally came up for this one from the library - I really enjoyed it too. I loved all the book references, and the way the story unfolded. Fun, quick read!

The kids saw a commercial for Annabelle yesterday and Gabe had a nightmare, and Kasia was crying tonight. Mana's kids! I do better with scary reads than scary movies though.

Started
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil this weekend and am about 2/3 through. I really like it! I will have to watch the movie next, and get my Kevin Spacey fix until the next season of House of Cards is released.
I've also started
Child of the Northern Spring, which is Guinevere's story. I used to be very into the Arthur legends, so this is a fun read so far.

Let us know how you liked it. That book is on my TBR, and it may get a bump if you think it's good!"I finished it in a day - I loved it. At my alma matter, it's the Aviation school that gets the funding and attention - I went to grad school in 2001 and in one of the offices for grad students there was gold shag carpet and the "community" computer still had a floppy drive. So, I understand an underfunded English department. But it was really funny and there was some character growth. I like epistolary novels, so this was a winner for me.

I went to a movie tonight with my husband and some friends. Of the 80 or so previews, several boasted to be "basted on the best selling book". I hadn't heard of 3 of them. And so I don't think the could have possibly been best sellers...at least not in recent years!

So far I'm laughing out loud (which also means I know where it goes in my Hive challenge!).

I will be reading
Dear Committee Members: A novel soon - I received it in the mail today! First Giveaway I've won in AGES! :) HAPPY DANCE! This was one that really looked good to me.

Elizabeth - I hope you enjoy The Interestings!!! I really liked it, but I guess it depends on the person.

I read this in a day - I love John Green's writing and characters. I feel like he has a big idea that he wants to get out, writes the soliloquy section and figures out a story around it. He always has a really insightful piece of truth in his stories, but he also shows how teens, while pulling stupid shit are also struggling to find their way and learn how to navigate life.
As far as the "soft porn" Um, no, I don't think this qualifies. I'd have more reservations about giving his other book Looking for Alaska to an immature reader based on all the teenage bad behavior in that one.

I listened to this one on audio last year - It was a powerful book.

So, I've gotten a few random friend requests here lately. Not sure where they come from, as none have been Bees. I just wonder, why do random folks try to friend, and how do you guys respond?

Garlan - I'm ripping right thru it. Very good!

Picked up Red Rising, as Garlan rated it so highly - it's great! Very entertaining.

I've started I am Having So Much Fun Here Without You, and while I want to like it, so far it's a slog. I'm not sure if I'm slumping or if I just don't like it...

I started and finished We Were Liars yesterday. I couldn't put it down. Very good, and it was not predictable at all.

I thought this book very interesting, and the concept quite originAl.

I brought Straight Man over to my neighbor last night. I love everything I've read by Russo. I still have a few of his books that I'm sort of saving.

Empire Falls is one of my faves!

I'm reading One True Thing - which is not a happy story either. I am going to get back into Infinite Jest now that I'm not on baby watch. :). I was awfully distracted while waiting.
