35559 Awesome! Thanks Mods!

I've been waiting to read this for quite a bit

That's a relief! I have about 5 buddy reads going on now. Too much
35559 I've Chapters 1-6, so I'm up to Part 2.

It was a little hard for me to get into it in the start. I kept thinking that the characters from the Grisha Verse would be in it. I can't remember then that well though.
(view spoiler)

I think I'll stick to reading 100 pages per day

Awesome! I think I'll be reading the third, not audiobook. I'm not too sure how quick I can read it
35559 Is anyone ready for the 3rd book? I'm happy to wait a bit or something to do the buddy read.

Four years is quite a long time. I'm sure I would have forgotten things if I hadn't read and watched the books multiple times.

I think you have to have read the same edition of the book. I can't see your book so I can't help! I'm struggling to put the paperback version I read in the past to be the same as the audiobook version I listened to. So, I'll have duplicates of all the H.P. books when I'm done. Bit annoying.

But, if you've got the same edition, all you'll need to do is edit, and 'add a date'. Might not help you though Vicky!

Nice work Heather!

I've update the classes post, so you can choose a book to match what's remaining, if you can find one!

35559 I added it in Nicole.

We can't really see if she does or does not have a necklace on, Teri. I'd play it safe that we shouldn't use it in the banishing charm.

Spells would be good
35559 I hope you like it Brooke!

I forgot to mention that I finished the book... then forgot to write my thoughts here.
I did like the book. The culture we get introduced to was eye opening for me. I hadn't heard of many of the traditions and beliefs so I'm glad I learnt something.
(view spoiler)
35559 I'm going to have to take my time too, Jan! Slow and steady sounds good. And am glad you're better now

Apoorv - I'll try and read a few chapters until Jan is able to read with us

This is my first book that has an old person as the main character - I haven't read or heard of the books you've both mentioned. I might give them a read if I like this book!
35559 I'll definitely re-watch the film before the buddy read for the next book! I actually like the movie's portrayal of Calcifer probably more than the book.

It's been bothering me that I can't remember the end, either
35559 The version of the book I got from my library had a few sections on Diana's thoughts and reflections on the book.

Mild spoiler alert if you haven't seen the film...

Q: Did you like the film?

A: "I thought it was wonderful.... When we eventually met, I found that he understands my books in a way that no else has ever done.
He did of course introduce his favourite obsessions into the film. He has to have flying machines! He crammed the story full of flying machines and war scenes on the very thin basis that the King in my book was planning a war! Miyazaki and I were both children in World War II and we seem to have gone opposite ways in our reactions to it. I tend to leave the actual war our (we all know how horrible wars are), whereas Miyazaki (who feel just the same) has his cake and eats it, representing both the nastiness of a war and the exciting scenic effects of a big bombing raid."
35559 Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "The movie is quite different than the book. I personally disliked the movie because it was so different. YMMV."

That's a bit shocking for me to read! I love all of Hayao Miyazaki's films!

She probably didn't know how else to be useful. She knew nothing about magic and potions and probably couldn't help with that.

35559 Brooklyn - That's fine! U is tricky to find.
Thanks Brooklyn! I tried to find a book to read with sword in the title but had no luck.

Nicole - Whoop!
As long as we need. I have 3-4 buddy reads going on right now and will most likely take my time to read Six of Crows. I think we're going with a slow place, which is good for us

35559 Chapter 1 - 2

So far I'm liking. I stopped as I'm getting drowsy. We're still getting to know the characters at this point so I can't say much about them.
