35559 Yep which was why I posted too. Later on, it became a principle not to read. Just google Cassandra Clare and plagiarism.

You know how much of a HP geek I am.

35559 City of Bones! Ugh!! I think that was the first ever book I DNF'd and that was way before GR when I just HAD to read the full book. I've never picked up another book of the author again.

35559 Good Morning, Team!! It's FRIDAY today! TGIF!!

I finished up a couple of books today -

Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts & Lion of Ireland by Morgan Llywelyn

LoI was as awesome as Leslie said. Thanks for the rec, Leslie. I'm so glad I read. (And it only took a month with my laziness)

I've started Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling in audio by Jim Dale and Midnight Tides (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #5) by Steven Erikson . I was so glad I started MT - I very much enjoyed going back to that world. I can't wait to read more of Erikson's work.

Me too! I was thinking I should visit that library more but they don't have comfy sofas like the other branches. They have these white chairs (that are really good) but I don't like sitting on them for a long time. Dilemna!

35559 Harry Potter Boxed Set (Harry Potter, #1-6) by J.K. Rowling HP

I wanted to post this yesterday but I had way too many stuff to do on GR.

Back in 2000, when I was in 6th grade, I was still reading Enid Blyton when one of my class boys started teasing me for STILL reading EB. At that time, my school library was the only library around for me and it had a very good collection (only for school students, no adults). After this, I went to the librarian (who was new) and asked him for recommendation. He introduced me to Agatha Christie, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys AND also Harry Potter. At that time, it was already popular and I was leery of trying it. It was a matter of principle, you see.

A year and a half passed. The librarian and I became best friends. I visited the library EVERY day and sometimes even on holidays when it was open. I had finished all Christie, Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys books in the library and I was pestering helping him order more books when he again asked me to try Harry Potter (more to get rid of me, I think). But the books were never available when I tried. After 1 month of trying, I made him reserve the first book for me. That book blew me away and I got the next pretty quickly too. It was hard after that waiting for each book. It's still my most favorite series ever.

Last year, I tried the audio and I could only listen to Stephen Fry's version. Couldn't listen to Jim Dale at all. When I started the audio yesterday, I can only listen to Jim Dale. I'm weird. I'm only about chapter 4 in though.

35559 Good Morning, Team!! The August Challenge has started officially for everybody! Has everybody started reading their books?

I had an impromptu library visit today because I wanted to read more Sandra Brown books. The library branch I went today had this cool initiative: The Mystery Brown Bag

We're not supposed to peek into the bag but I (of course) peeked in two bags to determine they were not mysteries (not into them right now). But I did not peek into the one I finally checked out. The book I got was Obsessed by Susan Andersen . I haven't read any Andresen so I'm hoping this would be a good intro to her.

I finished Envy by Sandra Brown today and that kicks off the August Challenge for us. I think I might go on a Sandra Brown Binge (after the NR binge I suppose)

35559 If there was a LT, then it might've been a deal breaker. I'm getting really tired of them (and YA seems to have abundant of them)

I used to think I was stingy before I saw you (and another of my friend) rate. Now I know I'm an "average" rate.

35559 Rebecca, I forgot to ask the most important question - does it have a Love Triangle?

And if you say you've given it 4 stars, it's good enough for me. I usually see you give 2 or 3 stars.

35559 @Rebecca: You're the first person who has unreservedly endorse the series. It's going on my TBR pile :)

35559 Good Morning, Team!! Good to see everyone reading.

I've been in Manga mode myself (and the books don't count for this challenge) but I'm planning to go back to my planned reads from tomorrow. And I got my Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews . YAY!! I missed Kate & Curran!!
35559 I'm just onto Chapter 4 - The weekend was a busy one for me. I'll start posting in a while. And I'm not reading any of yours until I'm done.

35559 Leslie wrote: "Vi - I've never read Anne Stuart. What kind of books are they?"

Basically her setup is always like this (from the grand total of 3 books I've read): A morally ambiguous, dark, asshole-ish hero; completely innocent heroine. I didn't like her Black Ice but Ruthless was good. Best I can describe is a dark, obsessive love. Her writing is such that you can accept the whole package. I read her when I am in the mood for dark, angsty stuff. You could try Ruthless or Nightfall and see if it's your cup of tea (though, I think you'll like it)
