35559 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling Movie

I saw the movie on Thursday and this is one of my least favorite movie. The book starts off with Harry trying to do his homework muttering Lumos and it sort of went downhill from there. The Marge incident was funny but the movie lacked any emotional punch. Everything was sort of dealt with superficially. The fights between Hermione & Harry, Ron are not at all portrayed well and this was one of the strong points in the book. The movie turned into a straight adventure kinda thing. *Sigh* It sort of ruined that night for me because I just couldn't watch the movie without getting all annoyed and irritated.

35559 Quick post about Plain Kate by Erin Bow - I so expected to love it. I mean, it had my name written all over it and I even waited for weeks for it come off hold. But sadly, I didn't love it. It was just.. ok for me :(

35559 Ah, the Silver Lining was my first so I'm partial to it. I loved Jenny but not as much as Low Down. I think we should do a marathon and rate the books, LK. :P

35559 Lisa Kay, I think Silver Lining by Maggie Osborne is the best of hers. The others are good but as much as this.
35559 No, Nancy - there are some differences..

35559 It's still on my e-reader when I just want to peek-read into after my recent re-read. Low Down is such an awesome character!

35559 Yay, Leslie! I'm so, so glad you liked it! I had the same reaction as you - it was hard letting go of the book.

35559 Wow that is a lot. I did think of signing up for the Western but I'm already so much behind on my reading that I don't want to commit to another.

No worries, LK! The Shadows of Night by itself should be enough to complicate everything.

Ugh. Doesn't surprise me in the least that Lucius Malfoy would do that.

Sorry, Vi. I wanted to get to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling this week, but I'm under an avalanche of "buddy reads" where I'm doi..."

Aw, too bad, LK. Anyway, you go through audiobooks faster than me so I'll wait.

Hope your dentist trip was fine, Gwen.

35559 Rebecca, continue with Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews . Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews is really the weakest in the series.

Karen: go, read Kate Daniels. The buddy read should be fun with Sonia too :)

35559 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling

Isn't anyone else reading this? I'm at chapter 17 - They've just gone into Shrieking Shack. Tonight's supposed to be movie night but I'm thinking of shifting it to tomorrow.

PoA is one of my favorite books in the series - two of my favorite characters - Lupin & Sirius are introduced in the book. They're the two most sympathizable characters for all they've gone through and will go through. Snape is at his most loathsome self and at his most human in this book. How about everyone else?

35559 Ashley, that book made me blubber too - so did Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta . Both made Melina Marchetta auto-buy for me.
35559 I can do it.

35559 I haven't done an update in so long.

I finished up Blue Smoke by Nora Roberts - I think I need a break from NR; her MO is jumping out at me affecting my enjoyment.

and also: The Mountains Of Mourning by Lois McMaster Bujold - it doesn't work for the challenge as it's a novella but it was a really good addition in the series. Anyone who reads this, I highly recommend the Vorkosigan Saga Series. The author has written the series so that each book can be read as a standalone. Go and read the first one!!

Still working on Midnight Tides (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #5) by Steven Erikson . I'll have to start Lost in a Good Book (Thursday Next, #2) by Jasper Fforde and The Vor Game (Vorkosigan Saga, #6) by Lois McMaster Bujold next.
