35559 Sorry, you lost me at hour/day chips. No idea what that means.

And I just realized, The Prophet (Graveyard Queen, #3) by Amanda Stevens is a BR here and A Spear of Summer Grass by Deanna Raybourn is at another group both of which are in September. Need to reconfigure the books.

35559 LOL! I think most of us would fall under that category.

I tried to sort out my books for September but gave in halfway through. It's just amazing how much books I have.

35559 Leslie, sometimes I think you are too nice :D

We should do it for the next book then!
35559 Puzzle #125 sent for Moonstone. I like this version of Romeo & Juliet much better!

Wow, Leslie! But it's so good to see the progress. I too can't believe it's been 8 years already.

35559 @Melissa: Nah, you totally didn't sound like that at all. I was nodding at everything you said and it really felt like meeting a kindred soul. (Most of the reviews when I finished reading were overwhelmingly positive)

35559 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4) by J.K. Rowling Book

I'm about 28 chapters in finishing with the appearance of Barty Crouch in the school grounds. I still have 9 more chapters - this is a loong audiobook! And the next is even longer! Has anybody seen the movie yet?

Also moved past Sirius's reappearance and it strikes me as always how much Sirius loves Harry and the risks he's willing to subject himself. I wonder though, where he lived for the past few months. It can't be easy living with a Hippogriff, can it? Not exactly easy to conceal oneself though most people don't know about Sirius and Buckbeak.

Anyway, this book led me to two questions:
- If the security in Hogwarts is that strict (you can't apparate/disapparate nor fly in) then does that mean Floo network works? If not, then how did Sirius pop in the fireplace? Or is that not Floo network?
- In book 3, when Sirius was being convicted, couldn't Dumbledore have used Veritaserum/extracted memories from Sirius, Harry, Hermoine & Ron to convince Fudge? Won't the Ministry accept that as evidence?

Anyway, GoF is the first book where we get to see the not-so-good portions of the Ministry; namely the treatment/prejudice of/against non-human beings like the house-elves, giants. I really liked how Rowling set that up with the prejudice rampant in the pure-bloods and how Hermoine tries to fight against it.
35559 I *almost* missed this thread. LK, is the narrator good?

I do - very much - however, agree with you on the casting of Lockhart & Umbridge."

*grins* Fan of Daniel Radcliffe, are you? I love them both but my first preference would always be Snape aka Alan Rickman. He's my absolute favorite.

**gasps** Vi!"

*Shrugs* Rupert Grint's much better. I thought he was sort of short-changed in the later movies with their focus on Harry-Hermoine non-romance. I will concede he got better compared to the first two movies.

OK I gots to thinking and the worst of the worst is Voldemort and then the list down down from there."

Sure, Voldemort is bad but he's been set up the as the EVIL guy from the start and he doesn't fail. But he doesn't annoy/irritate the reader. I mean, he gets the most screen time in Book 7 but they are somewhat interesting (his recollection of murdering Harry's parents for example) in that we get to see incidents I never thought we'd see. And incidentally, his is the only other PoV we get to see (excluding the Pensieve)

The difference between Voldemort and Lockhart, Umbridge is that they are set up to be annoying, irritating persons. And in Umbridge's case, very loathsome both in book 5 & 7. Voldemort doesn't get to that level of annoyingness in any of the books.

But the movie casting was spot-on for both Lockhart & Umbridge. They stayed so true to the spirit of the characters. And I'm probably opening myself to rotten tomatoes when I say I'm not that impressed with Daniel Radcliffe. His acting is just ok.. Not that great. *ducks*

I have so many books waiting for Sept that I hardly know which to start first. But I'm definitely finishing this within the first few days. But really, I agree. The first book was good, the second is even better. I'm expecting the third to be awesome.

Lockhart is very, very annoying in the audiobook. Jim Dale did a great job with the narration that you really want to punch Lockhard in the mouth just when he smiles.

OoP is one of the most angsty books in the series. Umbridge is very loathsome. I can't wait to see how Jim Dale does her.

35559 I finished up Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant yesterday and it had so man WTH! revelations. I really want to start the next book asap but I'm putting it off for September 1 as it fits so many challenges. And it seems any book that I think of picking seems to work for September. Finally, decided to start Never Love A Lawman (Reidsville, #1) by Jo Goodman as I'm in a Western mood. Enjoying it immensely.

35559 Rebecca, sorry to hear you didn't enjoy The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender but way to take one for the team. Any thought of even trying it has gone out of my mind.

@Melissa: Man, I loved your rant. Finally, someone else ranting along with me. Honestly, it's times like these that I miss physical books. (view spoiler)
35559 Ah, so we have 3 more other than me (Maybe counts as yes!). Can we have a thread for it? We can continue from #2 October onwards..
