Twice I have tried to read this book, twice I have given up after a dozen or so pages. Maybe with others to discuss it with I will have more success. :D

I'm sorry Joi is AWOL. I'm not trying to make more work for you at all Angel, I'm sorry if it felt that way. If we are each responsible for checking our own page and letting you know if something needs an override, I thought it would save you some time. Mine is fine but I noticed a few empty spots in other pages. Also, when did we switch to individual posts? Is that what you want? I asked if you wanted a new post for the month of December but I am happy to do each post individually if that is easier.

The Quest to Save Christmas is pretty cool. I have a four book Chimney ready to go.

I hated absolutely everyone in Gone Girl - I need to like someone to enjoy a book, a minor character is fine.

I see we are in fourth place again. I think everyone needs to check the spreadsheet because it looks to me like 2-3 people are missing points.

1460 points, that is awesome Rachel. I'm definitely trying to get more "extra" points this round. My problem is that I'm not really in the mood to read any of the BRs I have signed up for. So, could you all just vote for one so I am forced into it. :D These are the ones I have access to right now.

- I've wanted to read this forever but it is so long and I just finished a bunch of long books.
- I know this is going to make me cry because of my personal experiences with Alzheimers.
- A reread, granted I haven't read it in forever but it still feels a little like wasting time on a book I have already done.
- Absolutely hated Gone Girl but I believe in giving the author another chance.

Help! :D

Finished Where I Belong for 20 pts today and I should be done Innocent Blood (50 pts.) before bed. I was reading this afternoon when CBC played an old interview with P.D. James. What a delightful woman she was and an amazing writer.

I think there was another one but I'm blanking right now. I'm boycotting Elly Griffiths until I'm less annoyed by the blessed event. :)

What do you have lined up for December?

I read the first three a long time ago then stopped. I disliked The Gunslinger MORE this time around, so I'm hoping that won't happen with The Drawing of the Three. I remember liking it best back in the day.

I very much hated Gone Girl after everyone and their dog told me I would love it. It was the characters I hated not the writing however, so I'd like to give Flynn another shot. I'm in for this BR if you'll have someone who may need to rant. :D

Fell asleep last night with only 20 pages left in my book, so I finished it this morning instead. 20 pts. I managed to find a couple of buddy read books at my library, so I should probably start one of those next. Decisions, decisions.

I thought more people would be interested in buddy reading a classic mystery by an incredible author who just died, but apparently not so much (except you Rachel). My taste in books is clearly at right angles to most of the people in this group. :D

Hey co-captains, would you like us to start new posts in the book posting thread for December or just keep going in the one we started? Can you believe it is December in two days? Time flies when you're reading books.

Finished Deadlock for 20 pts. I do dislike Iris Johansen's female characters. I forget, because I generally like the storylines but she women generally act so stupid I want to shake them. It's silly but I always feel more betrayed by a female author than by a male author.

I'm going to read Innocent Blood (RIP P.D. James). Anyone interested in a buddy read?

Finished The Stand - 100 points!!! Best of all, now I feel like I can read whatever I want without that beast of a book breathing down my neck.

Gatsby is wretchedly boring, I just don't get it.

I finished 20 pts. today, but I'm just not in a reading mood. I actually watched TV tonight. I didn't enjoy it, but I watched it. ;D I'm sure the reading mojo will kick back in a day or so.

Okay, non-reading question for the team. Now's the time of year where I live when people start talking about heading south, planning their winter vacations, etc. Not me, I love the winter, but I am in the minority. So, tell us about a really good vacation memory.

I was visiting friends in Key West and I took a few days off to drive up to Islamorada to do some exploring/fishing. One day a friend took me out in his boat. That morning I caught a barracuda - so cool, then we spent the whole afternoon cruising around the flats while I hung my head over the side and watched the fish and the rays and the sea turtles (oh so beautiful) swimming around. When the sun set we did a little illegal lobster fishing and then went back, built a bonfire on the beach and cooked them. It was one of the best days I've ever spent. How about you?

I've always been a fast reader, but some of the people in this challenge are clearly bionic. Also, I'd like to get more points for us by reading more BotM and BRs, but not even for you my beloved teammates, am I willing to reread the horrendous . ;)
