35559 Four hours to go. I've put our list of goals on the first page of the thread. I'll update it morning and evening and the spreadsheet updates automatically. If you "call" a goal I'll mark it there too, but if we can fill a goal more quickly with someone else's book, I hope no one gets offended. We will go through many many goals, so everyone will be able to participate.

The books I am planning on reading today don't fit any of the open goals, but I've been reading a lot of romance and chick lit lately to finish up SRC and I need some straight up adventure to cleanse my palate. So if we need a plane crash any time soon, I'm our girl. :) I'm pretty sure I have something with a cemetary on the cover too, I'll try and find that tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day of reading.

35559 I read a bunch of short books today to make sure I could finish them. I have one left for bedtime and morning and then I'll be starting fresh at 1 p.m. The beginning of a new challenge is always so exciting.

I won't be home from work to report until almost 8 p.m. my time (exactly 24 hours from now) but I should have a book or two to count by then. I'm going to save my first long book for Sunday.

It seems like our captain may have disappeared. Danielle is online a lot and willing to take over as captain. I'm online barely at all but able to check on books, shelves and goals. We will be awesome! So team Raven, are we ready to read?

35559 Cute story Kenéz (just remembered copy/paste exists, no need to learn accents, hooray). Apparently I knew how to read when I started kindergarten at age 4. I have no memories from that time but my mum says that I was reading Little Golden Books to my little brothers at bedtime. Still reading at bedtime. :)

I have two big fat books that I'm saving for the points, but otherwise I'll just keep reading my SRC books until I run out of those. Don't know if I'll do winter SRC too or just read what I want in December.

Looking forward to getting started. The competition starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, local time, so I'll be at work - have to remember to take a new book and not start early. :)

You are younger than me also. :) I have been a reader my entire life. Not too many days exist in the past 40 or so that I didn't read for at least a few minutes. :) My whole family is like that though, so I grew up with my parents reading in the living room after supper when most families were watching TV. Christmas morning was always completely silent after we finished opening presents because everyone would dive into their new books (toys too of course when we were little, we're not complete Luddites :D ) My siblings are all still readers and they all married non-readers. It's so bizarre to me to talk to people who can't answer the question "what are you reading right now?"

Still don't know what my first Tower Team book will be. I read about a book a day so I'll finish up a few before we start. Anyone saving something good?

35559 I volunteered for questions for Pretty Girls. There are a lot of volunteers already so it will have to be a lottery anyway I think.
35559 I'd like to volunteer to write questions for team Raven.

35559 Someday I should learn to make accents on this computer, but today is not that day. Welcome Kene(accent aigu)z. :D

I think I'll be reading Pretty Girls this month too. The other BOM choices are not in my library, therefore not going to happen.

Have a good day teammates, we haven't seen the sun all week here, hope it is better where you all are.

35559 My pumpkin had a black spot near the corner of its mouth so I turned it into Marilyn Monroe. My carving skills are neglible so it basically looked like a standard jack o'lantern with eyelashes, a big mouth and a beauty spot. :D

I also read a book yesterday. And one the day before. Yay, reading is back, TV is out.

35559 I rarely watch TV but about once a year I marathon something on DVD and stop reading for a few days until I get it out of my system. So I had a day off and it poured rain and someone gave me the first three seasons of The Walking Dead - BOOM - marathon. :) It doesn't help that the book I'm halfway through is boring me and the next one on my schedule doesn't interest me at all and I haven't been to the library to load up in weeks. I'd better go this afternoon.

35559 I haven't read a word in two days because I've been watching The Walking Dead DVDs. Odd show. I don't like any of the characters except Glenn, but I can't seem to stop watching for some reason. I'm kind of rooting for the walkers but I still want to see what happens to everyone.

One more season until I run out of DVDs and have to find the next couple of seasons. Tomorrow I WILL read again. :)

35559 I think that is the beauty of this challenge, no planning necessary - just read. Of course the new goals will change things a bit, but still - just read. :D

35559 Hi Donna and Faith! Nice to meet both of you.

I love planning what to read. In fact sometimes I spend too much time planning and not enough time actually reading. ;) However I'm not so good at actually following the plans and I generally just read what I want to anyway. I'm currently doing the Seasonal Reading Challenge - so I have a bunch of books to finish for that and I'm doing another individual challenge where I have to read books in order, so I will probably just be fitting those books into our challenges here.

November 7th is so far away, who knows what I'll be at by then. :D

The book I read today was by a new author who seems to suffer from Stephen King disease. I'm zipping along, enjoying the book and it seems like suddenly she was tired of writing and just stopped, without an actual ending. So annoying!

35559 Tara, so sorry about your grandfather. Glad you were able to spend time with him at the end.

Wonder where our other teammates are? Helllooooooooooooo. :)

Danielle, I've read all the Harry Potter books (because I am a completist and can't leave series unfinished) and I really only liked the first one. I think we're definitely in the minority of earthlings though.

In my experience, black bears are generally not too aggressive unless they are mamas or injured. I've only been charged once in my life and the Ford Explorer took the brunt of that attack. :)

My questions...

1) FAVOURITE GENRES: Mystery and Suspense

2) LEAST FAVOURITE GENRES: Chick Lit, Horror and Romance

3) TOP 5 FAVOURITE BOOKS: I don't think I can do a top 5 but my favourite book for the majority of my life has been Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1) by L.M. Montgomery and I still count it so today.

4) FAVOURITE AUTHOR: Nope, can't do it. My least favourite author is whatever hack wrote those 50 Shades of Garbage books though - that person can't write AT ALL!

5) ANY PETS: As of today I have two old cats. This is an all time low for me but it seems as if my animals all got old at the same time and I've lost quite a few over the last 5 years. My heart needs a break and my feline boys are enjoying the quiet so I'm giving them this time to themselves.

6) FAVOURITE COLOUR: Green and sometimes blue. But I dislike most blue-green shades. :)

7) FAVOURITE ICE CREAM FLAVOUR: I like vanilla and sometimes fruit flavours - I'd sooner eat brussel sprouts than chocolate ice cream, but then I like sprouts and hate chocolate.

I wish it was November already. ;)

35559 Just got home from delivering cheesecakes (because apparently that is what I do at midnight) and I must be tired because I just drove past a bear in my yard, said "shoo bear" and walked into my house. I should probably have let him get a little further away from the house before doing that, but oh well. At least I had no cheesecakes left for him to eat. :D

I shall answer the getting to know you questions tomorrow. Nighty night team.

35559 Hi Sarah-Jane, Ariane, Tara and Danielle. Nice to meet all of you. Didn't get a chance to stop in last night because I was baking (as I will be every night this week) but I'm usually around for a couple of hours in the evening. I'm not much of a TV watcher so prime time is my computer time. :D I'm guessing we might be a non-chatty team though or we haven't hit our stride yet. ;)

Anyone reading anything amazing right now? I've had a string of mediocre books lately, but last night I started Hidden America: From Coal Miners to Cowboys, an Extraordinary Exploration of the Unseen People W ho Make This Country Work and while it isn't fantastic, it's definitely an interesting and easy read. I tend to read mysteries, suspense, adventure, non-fiction, historical fiction - fantasy and sci-fi when I can get it (my library doesn't stock much and I don't have it in the budget to buy books). Romance, horror and chick lit fall at the bottom of my choices, but they are all occasionally enjoyed. I avoid books about animals because something bad always happens and I hate sad crying over books. Humans can be dismembered and served in a stew and it won't bother me, but an elephant gets a hangnail and I'm a blubbering mess. My reading quirk I guess.

35559 Hello team! Another Tower Team beginning, how exciting. My name is Allison, I live in Northwestern Ontario, Canada where the deer outnumber the humans 50 to 1.

I guess I'm a co-captain, but I warned the mods that I'm the type of co-captain who can screw up a spreadsheet by simply thinking about it, so I offered to be the type of co-captain who checks books and cheerleads and never ever enters books in the team spreadsheet. :D So I reserved a couple of early spots in case we need them.

I'm off to work in a few minutes and I work in a shack with no internet, so I'll be around mornings and evenings. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Have a great day teammates.
