35559 If it doesn't work out, I have The Devil's Code that I can read.

Finished: Three Girls and a Baby (Three Girls, #1) by Rachel Schurig by Rachel Schurig - 269 pages
Date Finished: 09/12/15
Goal - Commodus: Read a book where a character gets a manicure or pedicure.
Location 2484 - The technician set me up in a comfortable chair and eased my feet into the spa bath. I almost moaned at the contact - the warm water and the bubbles felt amazing. Blah blah blah...

35559 I just found a free book with someone getting a mani-pedi in it, so I am going to attempt to read Three Girls and a Baby. I hate reading on a screen so it might take a little while, but I will do my best.

Finished: The Lost World (Jurassic Park, #2) by Michael Crichton by Michael Crichton - 393 pages
Date Finished: 09/12/15
Goal - Gabrielle: Read a book which has the main location (setting) as Central America.

I hope the new goal is something I can read, because I have no manicures, no spirits and no rain. :D
Sep 11, 2015 01:55PM

35559 Well I have discovered quite definitively that I do NOT read books where people get manicures. :D

I can't even do one thing at once, so no worries. :D

35559 As far as I can tell, we have two completed goals:

ANNIKA – A Touch of Heaven - Read a book where a character gets a manicure or pedicure
SUNSHINE – Tricked - Read a book where someone is eaten

We have six that are being read:

WREN - Read a book with a guitar or other musical instrument on the cover
ANNIKA - Read a book which has the main location (setting) as Australia or New Zealand
EMILY - Read a book whose author died this year
ALLISON - Read a book which has the main location (setting) as Central America
BRITTNEY - Read a book first published on the 6th of a month
ROSINA - Read a book where the first word of the text is A or An

And four that have no one working on them yet:

Read a book with the main genre (listed on the first page on GR) as Spiritual
Read a book that is in the Amazon 2009 bestsellers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/...)
Read a book with the word wolf, bear, fox, lion or tiger (plurals are acceptable) in the title
Read a book where a character gets a manicure or pedicure

Look right to everyone?

35559 Denise and Cathy, what an awesome run!!!

So manicures and pedicures are the new pet names starting with U. :D I'm assuming chick lit is the place to look for those scenes, so I'll check the one book in my to-read pile for that when I get home tonight. Back to baking now, and then some Central American dinosaurs.

Must sleep now. Morning comes early. :)
Sep 10, 2015 06:14AM

35559 I should be done my prison book this evening and I'll pick up my Central America book this morning when I drop my nephew off at school. Will definitely be able to finish it before the deadline.

Honey the Golden Retriever

Started reading this hoping for a U dog, but found a H instead.

35559 Anita wrote: "I really should read those Jurassic Park books. Are they as good as the first movie?"

As usual, my answer is "I haven't seen the movie". I've never seen the movie actually. :D If it was a good book, I refuse to watch the movie. If it was a bad book, why bother. And if it wasn't a book, then why not just read a good book? I just don't have the attention span for movies.

But Jurassic Park was a good book.
Sep 09, 2015 09:51AM

35559 The only Central American book I have is The Lost World. I could read it after I finish my prison book, but hopefully someone else can find one before that.
Sep 09, 2015 09:35AM

35559 81 of the top 100 female names in Spain end in A. Why was I counting names instead of reading my book? Ah well.
Sep 09, 2015 09:23AM

35559 Are we still waiting to see if the green cover and the quote in the text are accepted? Because I am reading a book that will definitely count for green if the other one has been denied.

35559 Stacie Mass D-Struction wrote: "Ha! I totally thought it had to have two versions of the same word in it to count for that and was looking for books. "

That's what I thought too and there are not many non-children's titles out there. I've been looking for half an hour. :D

35559 Finished: U Is for Undertow (Kinsey Millhone, #21) by Sue Grafton by Sue Grafton - 403 pages
Date Finished: 09/09/15
Goal - Read a book where a pet name starts with the letter U
Ulf the wolf-dog.
Sep 09, 2015 04:16AM

35559 I hope nobody minds, but I like to see our goals in black and white so I've been keeping a little list. Why not post it and save the captains a step? We should be getting a new goal from Emily's book, but that leaves 3 unclaimed goals unless I missed someone.

Spartacus
ENI - Read a book where a pet name starts with the letter H
Read a book with the main genre (listed on the first page on GR) as Spiritual
EMILY - COMPLETED - Read a book that contains a quote from another author in the text

Juba
ALLISON - Read a book where a pet name starts with the letter U
ALLISON - Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a prison or concentration camp
Read a book that is in the Amazon 2009 bestsellers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/...)

Commodus
ANITA - COMPLETED - Read a book with the word highway, road, avenue or street (plurals are acceptable) in the title
Read a book written by an author who was born in Asia
DELTA - COMPLETED - Read a book with a green cover

Gabrielle
ANNIKA - COMPLETED - Read a book where a pet name starts with the letter S
SILJE - Read a book that starts with the letter Q
DENISE - Read a book with the phrase "It takes two to tango" in a book

So far, as far as I can tell, no one is reading for these goals:

Read a book with the main genre (listed on the first page on GR) as Spiritual
Read a book that is in the Amazon 2009 bestsellers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/...)
Read a book written by an author who was born in Asia

35559 I think all the quotes in Ink and Bone were used as chapter headings. So I'm assuming that doesn't count as part of the text?
