I read the book not that long ago so we could go see the movie for a birthday. :)

In the 10th Games, interest was beginning to wane on the part of the Capitol. The Academy that Snow attends assigns students as mentors to the tributes. The students are encouraged to come up with ideas to get people interested. Snow gets District 12 and is highly insulted by that. It boils down to a competition between two of his teachers, one who is the Game Master (I don't think it was called that) and the other who's name was put on the original idea of the games.

The Capitol never sent tributes. the Capitol was the victor and instituted this punishment/reminder.

35559 I know another District sent a book that ended in ICE and got back Ice Planet Barbarians. We'll see what they do. :)

35559 FYI, on the spreadsheet the Letters Overlap column, which draws from the Mini Reason column of the Round tab, is suppose to be the number of letters that overlap, not the letters themselves.

I think I'm totally wrong about that!

35559 Hey there District 2! The Capitol is going to be reading The Essence of Malice for the 4th shot of our Battle.

35559 I'm going to send The Essence of Malice to District 2, because DLE is too difficult, and we still have more rounds we want them to be nice for!

Sana, thank you for being willing to read The Essence of Nathan Biddle, but we won't need it for this one.

35559 @Kari - Can you please mark Get Frosted as read, assuming you have finished it and this isn't another typo on the spreadsheet? Thanks!

35559 You’re right. That would be difficult. Maybe we should pick something else so they keep being nice to us? Do you have any other options?

35559 Sounds good, Sana. I’ll post for them before I go to sleep.

35559 Okay. If no one else has anything else during the night I’ll send Essence of Malice to them in the morning.

35559 The Essay actual sounds good. I didn’t even search for Essay, assuming it would be all nonfiction.

35559 I can take Ender’s Game off your hands. Or listen to Essence of Malice. The audio is on Hoopla. Whichever you prefer. We can wait and see if anyone else wants to read one.

35559 I've got nothing on my TBR, but here's what I'm finding with a quick search of Goodreads.

The Essence - it's book 2 in a trilogy
The Essence of Nathan Biddle - doesn't look like there's an ebook or audio version; looks like Carrie has read it
Essence of the Witch - it's on KU
The Essence of Malice - Hoopla has this one
The Essence of Evil
Essence
The Essence of the Thing
Essence
Essence
Essence of Time - for our MM readers
The Essence of Chaos - nonfiction
Essence of Desire - short story collection?

35559 This will be fun. Most of the titles I'm finding that start with Essential are non-fiction, and not non-fiction I want to read.

Anybody else wondering what the Mods have in store for us that the Resource piles from the previous rounds might matter?

Congratulations!

The Supply Drops are sorted. Basically, each round District 1 and we (us?) can each send the other 3 books to be used as resources or to protect a resource pile. They can be used in a mini-challenge, but only if the read date fits. And since the hard tasks are unlikely to have extra books, it boils down to the resources & piles.

For the Battle, we'll be fighting District 2 with books. It's basically a book chain linking the last 3 letters of their book titles to the first 3 letters of our book titles. We have this week to plan and next week (starting the 22nd) to read them.

35559 If no one else speaks up with a different option by morning I will send Ender’s Game to district 2 as our choice. Keely, if you don’t get it in time just give a shout. You have both Claire and I as back-ups.

This would be my 3rd or 4th time. I've got an audio copy this time!

If no one else claims one for this one, and you want to do it, go for it. I'm sure I'll find lots of stuff to read for the other battle books, too.
