35559 If this one is left up to me, I'll probably go with a re-listen of Ender's Game.

35559 I was spying on their thread, so I have already been looking.

For END I found these. If anyone else has something else or is interested in reading one of these, please say so!

The End of Olympus
Ender’s Game
The End of Her - psychological thrillers aren't my preference, but if someone is interested in this one, great.

For TES I found these. Again, if you are interested in reading one, please say so. If you find something else that you want to read, please say so. If we get people interested in reading from both options, we can let District 2 pick.

The Testaments - sequel to The Handmaid's Tale
Testing Kate
Testing Limits - KU
Test of Valor - MM Romance, but second in a duology, so may need to read the first
A Testament of Steel - High/Epic Fantasy on KU
The Testing - YA Dystopia, audio included with an Audible subscription
A Test of Wills - Historical Mystery Thriller

So it turns out that the Resource Piles reset each round, so this won't work out as permanent protection for each pile.

35559 We should talk to District 1. There’s no reason we can’t both send 1 book at the beginning of Round 2. Then we could both protect all 4 piles.
35559 I think she has an underlying assumption that his actions are all motivated by his desire for his own survival. She doesn’t see that his motivation is her survival.

35559 Nope. Not until the 22nd.

35559 Incoming shot from The Capitol.

In response to All Around the Town, we will be reading Own the Wind. I see many searches for books starting with In in your future!

I will post for them and see what they've got for us, then.

I didn't see your comment before I responded. I haven't posted to them yet. Do you want to wait to see what they throw at us next, or would you like to search for this one?

My orange cover will be done in just a few hours. I know Keely said she will have hers finished in time, so unless she says otherwise I think you are good to wait for the next round.

Go for it! I'll put you down for that one. Would you be interested in doing another one during the week, or will that be it for you? Just wanting to know how much time to leave the team to plan before I respond to District 2 for each set.

That's 2 down, only 8 more to go!

35559 We can go for Town as well. It’s only 1 extra letter.

It'll probably be tomorrow before we have anything for you. Good thing they gave us a week (plus an early start!). Feel free to stalk our thread and see what we're considering. We can't promise to read what you prefer, but we can try.

By the way, do you have any idea how many books there are titled Owned By The ...? Mafia Boss, Bratva, Irish Mob, Billionaire, etc!

If it's Captive in Crete: The First Jet Wilson Cozy Mystery, it wasn't very good.

35559 Do you have any idea how many Owned By The ... books there are? There are a lot!

So it looks like we need a book that starts with OWN or maybe TOWN. We can ignore articles (The, An, A) at the start of the title.

I have found:

A Town Called Solace - library hold should be available in time. If not I can use an audible credit

Owned by the Lost Boys - KU - I'm a little iffy on this one, but if it's our best option I can read it.

Own the Wind - longer, but my library does have it.

Anyone have a different option? Or want to read one of these?

35559 We can protect 3 of the piles because we have three books. I think we need weapons and food for sure, but I don’t know which of the other 2 is more important.

We can do it at any time, even after the next round starts.

To use them as a letter in the Battle, it has to be a supply book from Round 2. That is the one (so far) instance we can't carry them over. It's because the Battle books are being treated as a mini-challenge and Supply drop books can only be used in a mini-challenge that the read date works for.

Other than that, our options for supply drop books are:

1. Mini-challenge. We don't need help with the mini, so they didn't send us books that fit the date requirement.

2. Add to Resource pile. This is the only option where we use the page count of the read books. And it doesn't help our pages read score, just the size of our resource pile.

3. Protect a Resource pile. At this time we don't know why we might need to protect a resource pile, but if the mods are offering us this opportunity, it will probably matter!

We sent them our longest books that were read before the mini-challenge started, which were our 3 longest books total. We still get all our benefits from the books, but now they have to decide to add their resource pile or protect their resource pile.

As far as saving them for a future round, that would only be for adding to or protecting the piles. We could wait and see, but it seems to me that if those are our options, we might as well do it. But, once we place them somewhere, we can't move them. So if we think we might want to wait and see, that is fine with me.

35559 This announcement from the The Capitol seems a bit anticlimactic now, but we will, indeed, be reading Easterleigh Hall for our first shot in the Battle Arena. Your turn!
