In the Battle that District 4 is in, the other team sent a book title that ended with GEORGE. They ended up having to use the whole word. I'm sure there's other examples, too. But the win is only 5 points, so I would rather make sure we all can read books we (mostly) want to read!

You've got it. Let me do a quick search on how easy/hard ACE would be because I'm leaning toward Iced Out to get the SKY letters.

If we go with Ice Princess we’ll get ENT as our next set of letters. Ice Palace will get us either ACE or CED. Ice Me Out (or Iced Out) will get us SKY.

This might affect our decision.

Claire had Ice Palace. I had Ice Me Out, although Claire had Iced Out. Melanie and Pattie both had The Ice Princess.

Who wants it most? I have Ice Me Out checked out in KU, so I will be reading it at some point during the challenge. So it’s fine with me for someone else to read for it.

I think both IRE and OLD are things they would work with.

I would like to get them to have to use 4 letters. But they’re tricky. When they thought we might send Essence of Nathan Biddle, someone on their team found a book title DLE! So we want to stay nice!

Maybe we should ask them if they have a preference? We really don’t want to end up like the District 4 battle where they had the letters RGE to work with and ended up having to go with 5 letters.

They asked for input in their thread. That’s how we ended up with ICE.

MelanieJoy, Preeti, and Kari all expressed interest in the Battles, so we'll wait a little bit longer.

So far I think Icebreaker is the only once with difficult final letters.

And if you’re doing one of the Battle books, you can’t start it before next Saturday and it has to be finished by the following Friday (the 22nd to the 28th).

I’ll wait a little bit to give anyone else a chance to add books, or give opinions about the ending letters we send to them. Once we decide, I’ll post our pick in their team thread and add it to the spreadsheet.

My library has the ICE linked above, but also has the audio of Ice. I could do either.

I don't have a preference, I don't think. I wouldn't mind you sending back ICE, I think MAN would be easy, and while I haven't searched for PER yet, it's probably pretty common.

We're all too nice and those final 5 points are totally going to come down to the coin toss, aren't they? :)

To be clear, I got in the zone of searching ESS books and just posted everything I found to my team thread. Someone said, "I can read The Essence of Nathan Biddle," and I said, "Great. We've got that one sorted." Then it was pointed out that it ended in DLE and I realized we don't want to do that to you! Not after one team was stuck with RGE!

I had forgotten this, but my kids reminded me that in Catching Fire they (Katniss & Peeta) study video footage of all their competitors' games in order to strategize. That's where knowledge of her games would come from. That's also where we learn about Haymitch's games.
