35559 Is there a thread for the Catching Fire Buddy read yet? Or are we just continuing in this thread?

Did you decide to scrap them? If so I can remove them from the spreadsheet.

35559 Hmmm. Anybody else finish a book yesterday that isn’t on the official spreadsheet yet?

35559 Hey team! I just went to update a book of mine on the spreadsheet and it already had a read date of today. Which is fine, but I just finished it so I think someone put their date in the wrong cell. I just want to make sure we get all our completed books counted. The closest book is Preeti's A Most Efficient Murder. Is that one completed Preeti?

35559 Hang in there Kamaria! That last little bit can be so hard when you just want to be done already!

If you don't like a book, don't finish it! I haven't read any of the books you reference as what you're looking for. But I like Emily Henry. I do find that there will be a point in there where I will cry in all of her books I've read so far. So if you just want light and fluffy, maybe something else? I just finished Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score. A lot of her books are a little heavier in what happens to the characters, but this one was light and fluffy. Rebecca Yarros's contemporary books are excellent (but I have cried in every one that I have read so far).

Yes. I think it was the 25th for that one. I'll post about that one closer to the date.

35559 I don't want anyone to feel pressured, but I also don't want anyone to miss a date because you didn't realize it was coming up soon.

If you are reading The Malevolent Seven, DQs need to be answered by 6/16 for BOM points.

If you are reading The Hunger Games, DQs need to be answered by 6/15 for Buddy Read points.

I think that's what we're going to have to do. Unfortunately, them calling it a farm isn't enough. If I was homesteading and growing food/raising animals for my own family's consumption, I would refer to it as a farm. But it wouldn't work for the definition of this task that we've been given. It's a bummer that they call it a farm and put farm in the series title, but it still doesn't work. :(

I've added two more books set in Crete but they don't have prominent horns on cover. If you can move Minotaur back to horns on cover I'll log them for Crete."

I saw those when I was looking for Crete books. They looked like they could be good, but my library doesn't have any copies.

They may not fit the mini tasks, but they still get us points!

35559 @Kari - your farm book has turned into a whole discussion among the captains! Who knew this could be one of the difficult tasks?! The mods have weighed in on it with this:

When you said “they sell animal feed” to fund the rescue center aspect, what type of feed? Like grains for chicken feed or something similar?

Does it qualify for a farm loan is a good way to go.

“Farm Ownership loan funds cannot be used to finance nonfarm enterprises, such as exotic birds, tropical fish, dogs or horses used for non-farm purposes (racing, pleasure, show and boarding”

But if they are growing crops to turn into animal feed to sell, that counts as farming

With this in mind, does Well Trained work for the farm task? Some of the captains were concerned about the animal rescue aspect.

35559 There is a countdown on the Summary page of the spreadsheet. The mini ends when the round ends. So yes, 9 1/2 days left.

Subtitle works for Cornupia, so that one works.

35559 Okay. I was just checking because the mods said upfront that they don’t mean someone living on a farm and growing food for themselves. As long as it has the commercial aspect we’re good.

35559 Here's where we're at with the mini. All of these are in addition to what is already down on the spreadsheet but not yet read.

Orange covers - we need one more

Horn on cover - we need one more
Set on Crete - we need one more
Set in Idaho - we need one more
Takes place on a farm - we need one more
All letters of CORNUPIA in title - we need 3 2 more

35559 @Kari - regarding your book Well Trained. I just want to clarify that it is a working farm (the mods used the words commercial enterprise). From the description, I couldn't tell.
