35559 Maybe it's because I reread 1984, Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451 fairly recently that I'm finding this one heavy going.

I'm not really enjoying Our Missing Hearts but will keep going. I enjoyed the other book I read by Celeste Ng but this is very slow and doesn't have much of a plot. I'm finding it quite repetitive too. Anyone else read it?

Nice. We used to drive up to Kempsey visiting in-laws but never stopped in that area.

35559 Cats, my book group just read The Five People You Meet in Heaven. General consensus was interesting but not mind blowingly good. What did you think of it?

35559 How annoying. The book I'm pacing myself to finish in time to start the first in the challenge has mentioned piano and trumpets.

I know The Narrows has saxophone in it because the detective Harry Bosch is not only a massive jazz fan but also started playing sax in the previous book. They're a sure thing for instruments so I'm happy to read one at any time. Rereading the whole series atm.

Btw I'm definitely here as a reader not a writer but in the team interest a lot of my early books feature orchestral musicians. Some have instruments on the cover too if that comes up. Mostly short sweet romances if you're into those. And that's the last you'll hear about that from me.

Thanks Karen, I remember it happened once before but that was a few years and challenges ago.

We have Scandinavia on our radar but not sure if we'll get there although we have been to Helsinki. Blues Fest in Trondheim sounds fun.

35559 Hi Team, great to see some familiar names again. I'm in Canberra, I play classical clarinet player in a community orchestra and smaller ensembles, my husband is a jazz drummer but can play pretty much any style, son is a freelance bass player in Sydney also very versatile and his wife is a singer.

Not sure how that will help! hahaha. I read a lot though which is more useful here.

My first rock concert was many many decades ago. The Aussies will probably know this band. I saw The Easybeats when I was at high school.
We're not massive rock fans, lean more towards jazz/blues/soul/ Latin but one of the best more recent shows we went to was Bonnie Raitt. Love her, and we saw James Taylor around the same time. Have tickets for Harry Connick Jr in December. He's great. Saw him years ago and loved him then.

I'm looking forward to another team challenge. I have a white cover I need to read for an other challenge so will kick off with this. The Bullet That Missed (Thursday Murder Club, #3) by Richard Osman

35559 By Michael Dibdin. Zen is rather dour and would rather do nothing most of the time, perfecting the art of looking busy for the boss.

35559 Love those Montalbano books. Food is molto importante. Same with the Aurelio Zen books. Montalbano and Zen get quite upset if they can’t eat properly and regularly.
