I got a whole bunch of regency romances, and I'm trying to find one with a knight. The problem is everyone wants the hero to be an Earl or something. Even the guy honored on the battlefield was made a Viscount or something.I will hunt around for a medal or trophy on the cover.
Tomorrow I will finish
which is about an opera singer, which I just realized would work for Main Character is Musician, right? Carmen, you are reading Rock the Band for that -- are you almost done or shall I steal the square?
Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer by Novella Carpenter
Kindle: 300 pages
Read: 9.19.16
Rating 4 stars
For Title Chain -- starts with Farm.
I also read
Project Elfhome by Wen Spencer
Hardback
Read: 9.18.16
4 Stars
But I don't see anywhere to put it.
All I've got in the Ready Player One chain is The Turn of the Story and I'm not sure it counts because it's a book the author published on her live journal for free. (She was writing back story for her submission to an anthology and kind of got carried away.)
Ooh, I like Mary Renault. I've been pushing her at my son because his Latin class talks a lot about Greece.I could add either Within the Flames or Heaven Cent to that chain. Or I can wait and see what everyone else has.
I've see Fire Season which I can get from the library tomorrow. But if anyone has something on hand that starts with Fire I can find something later.
OK, building a title relay. I'm reading and can finish:
Project Elfhome (horrible words)
Romancing the Duke
When the Devil Doesn't Show (I'm not liking it)
Falling in Love
Once a Soldier
but I seem to do better when I'm reading to order so give me a gap to fill! Let me be Team Tapir's inside straight.
The Proposal by Mary Balogh
Hardback: 311 pages
4 Stars (but I would have loved anything that I finished by now!)
Set in England.
I just finished a book (amazing!) set in England -- shall I stick it in the England spot? I can't find anything else that it fits, and it would let us finish Labor 11.Well, it's about someone who had a nervous breakdown, but it happened before the book started.
The Proposal by Mary Balogh
I'm still in a slump! I keep reading 2/3 of a book and then losing all interest and motivation. If anyone wants to steal my currently-reading spots feel free. I'm stalled on both books that I should have finished days ago. Argh!I can only hope the winds will change and I'll suddenly have five books done in two hours. Maybe I'll try rereading some things. Sometimes that unlocks my brain.
I thought Scotland, but maybe that's just where they filmed it?From the Harry Potter.wikia: "Hogwarts is located in the Scottish Highlands,"
I think we can use plays. I used a book of poetry earlier and no one blinked. It's kind of the same thing -- a book with lots of excuses for short lines and white space :-)
OK. I've got a book with a house on the cover
, so I'll read that so we have a shot at completing Labor 4. (Two blues, two in-progresses.)I've also got a book that starts with A
that looks like it might also be about war or post-apocalyptic (I can never spell that) so I'll have that if my book slump resumes and I can't stick to something.
I finished something! It wasn't anything I was supposed to be reading. I grabbed an ancient romance off the shelf and went out and read it at the mall with no distractions. So my official books are "Think of England" : I had it in starts with T, Labor 7, Task 5; but I guess we are trying to finish Labors 1-6 so I moved it to Labor 3, Task 1 -- Handsome man on cover.
And "Lord Carew's Bride", for Labor 3, Task 5: Title in title.
Now I can look at the bonus page!
Lord Carew's Bride by Mary Balogh
Paperback
Read 9/12/16
Rating: 4 stars
I broke my slump! This works for "Title in title", Labor 3 task 5, and is my official 2nd book. Please enter it and Think of England in the official spreadsheet.
I feel like my reading has really fallen off. Since the break I can't seem to finish anything! I'm going to double down on my murder book because the book club meets tomorrow.Luckily the rest of you are picking up my slack -- I do appreciate Team Tapirs!
