I also like that Lily is human. She makes mistakes, isn't super powerful, even though she's buff, and actually has to recover from injury.
The only thing that does bother me is (view spoiler)
I'm going to order book three tonight.

As a southerner, I have always thought that Ms Harris's writing about race was rather accurate and honest. She doesn't try and gloss over it. Or make it any less ugly or complex. It's strange to think that Del for example was a decent guy but didn't like blacks. But that's the south. I grew up in Austin which was wonderfully liberal and large enough that I wasn't faced with it on a regular basis. I've been called everything under the sun and have been in some scary situations, where I felt truly unsafe cos I'm brown. But mostly, it was something one is always aware of but usually doesn't impede in daily life. But there are things that one just needs to be aware of or take precautionary measures against for safety. For example, friends and I would occassionally drive to New Orleans. We'd ALWAYS make sure to fill up completely in Beaumont cos the towns between Beaumont & NO weren't always safe for brown people. I made sure I always stayed just under the speed limit, always signalled and didn't do anything that would give cause to pull me over. It might not have been as dangerous as we assumed but we certainly weren't going to take the chance on whether those people, inc cops, were in good moods or not. Because if they weren't, at best, we'd likely end up with a confiscated car or cash, which was quite common, or at worst, like James Byrd.

The ending😍😍😍😍!
I think my fave thing about these books, which Cathy mentioned above, is that they are so good that even though I know I'm reading a detailed section of someone's work day or other mundane task, I still read every word. I'm sad about Meg & Simon ending but it's a great place to stop. There's space for revisit and it hasn't gotten to the point of such extreme repetition that it's a caricature (e.g. Anita Blake or dare I say the Fever series).

I'm quite late coming to the party. Just trying to get it finished before tonight! I know what you mean about not understanding. I'm thinking, how can these people do this to one another, they all know each other. But when revolution takes hold, it's not always for the best or the best people. Incredible premise to this story.

I'll try to get a U or two in. I have to finish Etched in Bone and my current BR The Three-Body Problem before I can start. But I think I'll be able to knock one U out by 1st-3rd Aug & another a few days later.
I have really enjoyed Tower Teams. At times, it has taken over my reading life. I'd have no idea what I might need to read next, especially during Quidditch, which was exciting as it got me reading outside my favourite (&safe) genres. Thanks teammates for making this fun.

Really liking Lily. [spoilers removed]

Claude [spoilers removed] Pardon knew something about everyone and had plenty of potential enemies, although most o..."
I think when a relationship ends it's fair & reasonable to move on. Marshall stated his intention to his wife & moved out. And it wasn't until all that that he finally asked Lily out. Divorces are messy and can, sometime take awhile, I don't see a point in waiting before seizing one's chances.
Also, I can't believe you too are a super- sleuth like Nikk! How you two got it so quickly, I don't know.
